RE: X-Men Utopia MUX
I think this is a really good idea. I know I've mentioned this before, but I want to reiterate it just for my two cents: Anytime you make a game like this where you are winnowing down the amount of available FCs, be sure you know what you will consider success. If your goal is just to have an interesting theme and cool people to RP with, then I think you're really, really on the right track.
It's hard for me to think of doing more than I am right now given how busy real life is, but I often look for a second game and would love to check this out when it's up. Don't know if I could be of any help, but feel free.

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
In re: the State of this Game,
Essentially what happened last winterish into spring: my cousin, who was really kind of like my brother (we grew up together) died and I backed away from here and from Arx to just focus on M63. I don't know if @ixokai would want to finish it someday and rock out. I don't believe there are any plans, which I feel bad about because he kicked so much ass with all the work he put into the code on that place.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
@Wizz I'm sorry, man, I just went and re-read and realized I totally missed the joke. And, alas, I just proved your point. So embarrassing.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
@Wizz Do they actually have games where they stick that close to canon? That hasn't been my experience on any of the games I've played, but I certainly could be wrong.
Also, @Coin created #3. He is the OG #3

@Chet I think we all respect and are thankful for your attempts at improvement through your education.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
@Chet do you mean carbuncle like fantastic jewel, or nasty wound? I am ready for anything.

RE: POLL: Super Hero MU Gut Check
@Ghost One recommendation I would have (I had a hand in creating HeroMux, CoMux, and Marvel: 1963) is to really set out what goals you need to hit to be successful. When we made HeroMux we wanted a large player base and made decisions to focus on that.
When we made M63 we realized right away that it would be likely, because of the setting, we would end up as a niche game. This time around we haven't been obsessed with numbers and are more interested in quality and it's been better for us.
My question for you (apologize if this has been covered) is this: recognizing that most people come to comic games to play chars they want to play, what are your expectations for the size of your game?
I think if you make that decision in the right way, that will guide you during the tough times.

Marvel: 1963+
Hey All,
We have a new server and made some changes over the past few months, so we figure it's about time to post our new ad. Thanks -- Tan
Marvel: 1963+. It's no longer 1963 and we're not restricting characters to just Marvel.
It is a confusing time in the world, both politically and socially. Wars and rumors of wars are fought and hinted at throughout the globe. Fear and paranoia of mutants is tacitly, or sometimes openly acknowledged by those in power. Over the past few years the emergence of costumed vigilantes has caused further stress on a nation and world that seems unfit or unwilling to handle the complex problems they face.
Marvel: 1963 is a roleplaying MUSH set in New York City in the Marvel Universe. While not strictly a year-one game, our story started in 1963 (now 1964) during the height of the Cold War, the escalation of Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement. It's the beginning of the superhero craze, mutant paranoia and the world just discovered aliens and demigods exist. The hallmark of our game is the story telling; we invite players to run plots and want to incorporate the results of those scenes in our overall story arc.
Players are not limited to Marvel's roster from the early 60s but are able to pick characters from any time period, any reality and now any publisher. We've opened up characters from DC, Wildstorm, and other comic book companies and we were always open and welcoming to original characters. The only caveat is that all characters have to fit into the Marvel universe and the time period that changed the world forever.
Come and join us!

RE: MSB alias/username
I was pissed when we picked staff names on CoMux. I wanted to go with Disney chars because I was known as Aladdin to all of my friends, but I was out voted about 137 to one. They wanted to go with drinks and I was going to go with Water. But then someone offered that we should do math because everyone hates math and it would be sort of a dark joke (I hope it was my idea, but I don't remember). Since I'd just gone on one of my huge soapbox speeches, Tangent was an easy fit.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@tangent said in Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning:
@mietze I have actually seen this phenomenon in real life. One of my students will do a thing where, in times where the class is sort of in flux, will move his head directly in front of mine and the person I am speaking with in the room. It is the weirdest thing. You'd think it would be an accident or something, but it happens three or four times a week. It's not like he's looking at me trying to gauge my response. It's just him purposely trying to get in the way of two people who are communicating where he is not one of the participants.
I meant this in response to the idea that people just drop in on scenes and sort of ruin them for their own fun, but maybe not for the same attention we might expect.

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
@Faceless I still boggle at the idea of Luke Skywalker: Ladies Man. And, sure, Mara Jade but on this game she's still firmly in the trying to kill Luke mode.

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
@Tempest said in Star Wars: Insurgency:
I have no idea who Luke is, but if we're going to be honest, There's pretty good odds the player will A) wind up squatting, barely being active, and TSing Mara Jade, or B) be an attention whore who makes the whole game all about him.
I have a few comments in regards to this, since it's an attack on me.
- Who Luke is: It's me. I mentioned that, but it was earlier. The line of demarcation on the obsession with that particular FC seems to those who don't know me and also know I will do a terrible job and the other side of those who know me, don't seem to like FCs on Star Wars games, but at least believe me to be not quite a big enough dillhole to be concerned about it.
- I'd be happy to go through my logs with anyone in defense of my activity.
- Can't TS Mara Jade. She won't despite all my wiles...whiles...wh...attempts.
- An Attention Whore: I think almost everyone who plays these games likes attention. I'm certainly no different. I would say, however, that my long track record of running large events on Universe Unlimited, HeroMux, CoMux, and Marvel 1963 has at least shown that I am willing to share the love. With the game as a whole. And sometimes most of it all at once.
In addition to being all of these things that lead to the surefire pitfalls before this game (also a clown, jerk, a-hole, and everything else anyone says on here) I'm also one of those people who gets motivated when people try and knock me or something I care about down.
So keep it comin, I'll be over here squattin' and enjoying the attention!

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
I should also mention that we can really RP anywhere. Literally the first scene I did was in an RP room on Coruscant. It's just the most of it is going to end up on Corellia.

RE: Star Wars: Insurgency
@bored yeah sure, but that doesn't make for a fun bet /at all/. Work with me here, man.
