@Lithium Lunair isn't a powerful character. Either is Melody. Both have been more relevant than the two major DC characters. What is your definition of relevant? To me it's about making interesting stories. Generally, both FCs and OCs who have interesting RP are relevant. I feel like there's something lost in translation that I just don't get.

@Lithium Finally got a chance to read all of this. There was a time I would have agreed with you, but the bigger comic book games have had a lot of great (and powerful, since that seems important to you) original characters. Anyone who has played at HeroMux or CoMux knows the impact characters like Shift, Lunair, and Melody Kenway would have. I think that people are much more likely to give OCs a chance nowadays. Now, that being said, if you're obsessed by how powerful you can make a character, that's usually a red flag to a comicbook player. Most of us have sat through scenes where folks want to slobber all over the scene simply because some uber powerful character was available when they signed on. For OCs, mot of the time, the characters have been pretty formulaic or boring. Nowadays though, folks like I mentioned earlier have really begun to buck the system and change minds.
The more I read about these games, I just think us comic kids are a different breed.

A little over a week ago I put out a call to folks for help on an idea I had for a new comic mush. With help from amazing folks like @faraday @ixokai and @TNP I'm happy to say we're opening up for beta testing.
Anyone who signs up for a character will be able to keep that character after opening, and some RP will be carried through if all parties are willing. See the theme blurb and the link to the wiki below.
It is a confusing time in the world, both politically and socially. Wars and rumors of wars are fought and hinted at throughout the globe. Fear and paranoia of mutants is tacitly, or sometimes openly acknowledged by those in power. Over the past few years the emergence of costumed vigilantes has caused further stress on a nation and world that seems unfit or unwilling to handle the complex problems they face.
Marvel: 1963 is a roleplaying MUSH set in the Marvel Universe. While not strictly a year-one game, our story takes place in 1963 during the height of the Cold War, the escalation of Vietnam and the Civil Rights Movement, and at the beginning of the superhero craze and mutant paranoia. The hallmark of our game is the story telling; we invite players to run plots and want to incorporate the results of those scenes in our overall story arc. Our current focus is on New York City, though we plan to expand as our playerbase grows.
Players are not limited to Marvel's roster from the early 60s, but are able to pick the nearly limitless options from their entire catalog of characters with adaptations to make them fit in the generation that changed the world forever.

@Thenomain Is it maybe because after the story ends we know how it played out and can more easily see it in perspective? For instance, I think it was awesome that Jason Todd got brained with a crowbar by Joker. The next Robin was better and then later when he did come back, Jason Todd was better as Red Hood. That being said, at the time, I think I would have been really upset (had I been a comic guy then).
It could end up being that this is the greatest Captain America story ever told, we just don't know yet. And since comics has crapped the bed so often, people who read comics are sort of jumping down on it right away. We do that in books and in movies all the time, but they're not episodic like television programs or like comics.
It's definitely interesting to me too.

@Thenomain That's a big difference between you and I. Character is more important than story to me. I will forgive small plot holes, inane bad guys, or hollow love stories, if you show me character and character development. For me, story just connects dots and can be fun but not as meaningful.
Also, to anyone complaining about sticking with consistency, there are like 600 issues of Spider-Man. How in the world can anything remain consistent? Both DC and Marvel do what they have to do in differing ways, but let's not pretend they don't /have/ to do it.

I was lucky enough to know zeek, Simon, Kevlar, Snoopy, Woodstock, Drone, Merlin and others irl. I got a chance to meet Bullseye and Darius. Sadly, Darius died about a year ago.

I played right after the "RSI reset" right about when Drone first started running around. I don't have too many horror stories other than being killed by staff once, but it made sense. Another time I was head of the NCSP and clone failed, that sucked. Mostly my stories are just funny anecdotes and were largely flavored by being a La Crosse native. We would hangout at Next Generation all day, especially in the summer, and talk about the game. I had the feeling that I myself had missed the good ole days.

I used to love that game with every fiber of my being. A year or so I went back and it was just a shell of itself....so sad. I even got offered a million cred to make something happen by an oldbie friend of mine, and I just yawned and erased it from my client.

Alright, so the update is that we have it up and running and are beginning to figure things out. For anyone out there who is interested in being the day to day coder or the eventual wiki person, those are the two staff positions we'll need to fill. Other than that, looks like this is where the heavy lifting is gonna begin.
