RE: Rings of Terra
Expected to? Probably not. Allowed to? I’d be interested in how many people would take up that challenge for the fun that creating allows.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
I've seen several systems work with dinos. The one I see working here is that dinos either have others or are forced to rely upon others, or more likely that the players of dinos are plot-generators or -enablers instead of plot-absorbers, which is most of the complaints I hear about dinos.
I don't see that being an overwhelming issue for Arx, though one that they seem to be paying attention to, which is better than most games.

RE: Sin City Chronicles
@Tempest said in Sin City Chronicles:
The guy who always has 2 friends app in with him is always going to have an advantage with him over the loner. Unless the group of 3 makes 0 effort to make outside connections or something, but even then, the lone person has an uphill battle even if they all start together on day 1.
And this is why staff always has the advantage over players when it comes to their characters. And so we slip further off topic with “should staff be able to play at all, or what kind of characters should they be allowed to play.”
Hopefully we can get this advertising thread back to what it is: An advertising thread.

I have seen posing indicators used extensively on some media... but I am honestly not sure how one could do that with current mushcode
Oh you can't.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't have it in some utopian future.

That's it, @Admiral said it's over, so it's over. Turn the lights off and go home.

I am told that @Royal is willing to step up and replace me, however.
Oh, if only that were true. My love of Promethean may be vast but by free time? Not so much.
Replace @tragedyjones? Me? Madness!
And we'll never have Royal (Royal)...

RE: Internet Attacks? Why?
@surreality said in Internet Attacks? Why?:
@ortallus I completely agree that this should be a wakeup call for these idiots.
I hope it is.
The person who did a recent swatting says he didn't do anything wrong because it's not his fault that the police shot first.
So no, no it is not. People will live in the bubble they want to live within.

Does this mean this project is dead?
The project has always been on a “when it’s finished” timetable. Chances are good that by the time Changeling comes out, everyone will have forgotten about it and be amazed and thrilled to see it.
Also: 2018, Onyx Path? Really?

RE: Internet Attacks? Why?
I didn’t mention that I hope like hell that the police get their pants sued off for shooting an entirely innocent kid, because I was trying to keep it to the original topic, but as we are here I hope that the police get their their pants sued off for shooting and killing an entirely innocent kid. I hope the policeman who did the shooting gets demoted at least.
As for why nobody is saying this is probably because most of us don’t know what the police are allowed to and supposed to do. The police up until very recent years have been very good at dodging responsibility for shootings all across America, and if you can’t trust the cops and lawyers and lawmakers, then who can you trust?

RE: Internet Attacks? Why?
@ortallus said in Internet Attacks? Why?:
@thenomain You want accountability for the death of an innocent bystander, then hold accountable those that are guilty.
My turn: Have you even read my posts? I'm accusing you of being too emotionally involved to make rational responses defending your position.
If you can't give any examples of what the police did wrong
They killed an innocent, unarmed bystander.
You can say that there should be an investigation, but holding someone accountable pre-supposes guilt.
Does it?
ac·count·a·ble
əˈkoun(t)əb(ə)l
adjective- (of a person, organization, or institution) required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible.
No, it pretty much doesn't.

RE: Internet Attacks? Why?
@ortallus said in Internet Attacks? Why?:
Do you understand English? By your own fucking definition, you're asking them to "justify" their actions.
That supposes that their actions are wrong.
I am asked to justify my correct actions to put people at ease that they were the correct action.
What should the officers have done differently? You still haven't answered that, and until you can, your arguments hold no sway over me.
I don't care what you think. You care what I think. Why, I have no idea.
Is that because of any action taken by the police that was out of line, unjustified, or against policy?
Not as has been reported by any media that I've been exposed to.
So you are calling me names based on your limited experience?
Uhhuh.
So you're challenging me to do the police's jobs, when you are not qualified to do the same?
Uhhuh.
The word we're looking for here is "hypocrite".
The guilty party is the angry caller who created the situation and gave the police the false information. Period.
Presumes that there is only one guilty party. This is not evident by what little either of us know. You are putting someone in the clear with too little information, while I am asking for proof of responsibility.
YOU STUPID ARROGANT FUCKING CUNT. THAT IS A DIRECT QUOTE FROM YOUR OWN GODDAMN POST. ITS NOT PUTTING WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH IF YOU FUCKING TYPED IT YOU SHITHEAD BITCH.
Um... @Ganymede? Someone?

RE: Eldritch - A World of Darkness MUX
Yes.
We would not be opening otherwise. We already pushed back launch twice, once publicly. Totem and Cover Aspirations are the only things that I wish I had finished, and we will be relying more heavily on the notes system than I wanted.
Google has run less stable code as "beta", so we'll be fine.

RE: Internet Attacks? Why?
Why is this a problem? I think it's a downright tautology by now: When we talk about reality, "it depends" is always a valid comment.
Also, do not mistake "all griefers are Killers" to mean "all Killers are griefers".
Also also also, here is Extra Credit's episode on Bartle's Taxonomy, a good summary of what we're talking about for people who don't know.
This is also a good run-up to its follow-up episode on how the player types interact where the meat of the discussion and our hobby really starts hitting this model.
Also, by their interpretation, or by the oldest definition, Killers are griefers. It seems like those who "act on the world" is being defined as Explorers, but hey, terminology drift is a thing.

RE: Game of Bones
The entirety of Game of Thrones that I have seen was some large guy melting gold then pouring it on some snotty young kid's head and we got to watch the kid writhe around in extreme agony until dead.
And so I am imagining that whatever y'all are talking about now is basically gore porn, a la Saw.

@botulism said in Diceless/Stats Optional:
@thenomain Because most people before you had issues.
People have issues with games they play on a daily basis. People will tell you what's wrong with something, but won't tell you why they like it anyway unless you ask them.
I just want the game to have the best chance it can.
Then let me give you the best advice I can think of: Be excited about what you're doing, and let that excitement be infectious.
Even if it doesn't become a national phenomenon, you will still have fun doing it.

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling a pig. It wastes your time and the pig likes it.
