RE: Faraday Appreciation Thread
I don't know @faraday personally, but I've been playing on an Ares games for the last year now and I'll be the 188837th person to say that they're an amazing contribution to this hobby. And one I really appreciate.

RE: The Work Thread
@silverfox Please, please, please take care of yourself first. I know that you want to go back to fix what's happening but in the long run you need to be healthy too, physically and emotionally.

RE: MU Things I Love
I played in a big scene last night I originally never planned on playing in and it was actually very fun.

RE: MU Things I Love
I've had several really nice scenes this week. From sad to funny, everyone has been great. A nice kick off to the new year.

RE: MU Things I Love
Failing many, many rolls but hilariously passing one while your character is unconscious and you're away from the keys.

RE: Consent in Gaming
@Thenomain I mean, it's fine if people want to play those kind of concepts. I just find that most people don't understand where the line is between 'this is fun for me' and 'oh I might be annoying the shit out of this person who has had to deal with my crap 89 times this week alone'

RE: MU Things I Love
Brought about the conclusion to a PRP storyline that really picked up for one player in particular, it was very nice and satisfying and a reminder of why STing for other players can be so worthwhile for everyone involved.

RE: Derbyshire Estate
@Grayson No, I mean, I saw that. I just feel like your reaction to this is a little OTT. Calling it a bait and switch? Really? I feel like @Lotherio probably just used a name generator and went that 'looks good'. I kind of doubt he was twirling his mustache trying to trick the Brits into playing on his game.

RE: Paying for a MU*?
I joke sometimes that if someone paid me to GM for them, I'd do it. I have a mortgage to pay!
But ultimately, I think I'd just bail because it would inevitably feel like a job where I'm now contractually obligated to fulfill the entertainment bucket of people I might not even enjoy because $$$.
This is my hobby. I do this for fun. If someone is acting weird and entitled to my storytelling time, I start to avoid them. If someone is entertaining me in return and caring about the stories I'm crafting and the NPCs I wrote? They'll get more of my time. Is that favoritism? Maybe, I guess so, IDK.
Money doesn't solve GM burnout. Treating your storytellers like they're also players (because they are) does.

Meshing Groups
Pulling this away from the peeve thread, because it's something I struggle with whenever I put together a mixed group of players and it's less of a peeve and more of a thing I let rattle in my brain a lot.
I find that it can be challenging sometimes to get a group of 5 to 7 players that aren't all familiar with each other to RP in a way that's engaging not just me, but the other players in the scene. Sometimes I notice they sort of just play alongside rather than with the other people.
So how do, fellow GMs? Tips? Tricks?!
THREATS?

RE: Breaking the Silence: Issac/Thrace
Arx can't ban him, even if they tried? Not creepy at all to announce to everyone from the guy who is totally done posting now okay.

RE: Arx Alts
I play Cristoph, though I'm trying to keep a narrower focus with him these days. I used to play Calaudrin.

RE: MUSH Marriages (IC)
@lotherio In my situation, I paged the person who was repeatedly page bombing me about their ICSO. After repeatedly telling them knock it off, I did ask the other person if they were aware this was happening. Because frankly, I'd want to know if my RP buddy was being weird and creepy to other people.

Calaveras MUSH
Tucked against rising hills and the San Juan Mountains, Calaveras seems a sleepy Colorado town; at least on a postcard image. Here people live their lives. From first responders on hand to rescue stranded tourists on the slopes of Antler Pass to the men and women that bust bulls and broncos at the rodeos over at Jackfield Stadium; from the ranchers out at Granja Basin to the few hipsters on Smelter Street. Calaveras is a typical small city in the Great American West that is Southern Colorado.
Calaveras is a MUSH focused on adult drama genres. Take any adult drama series and this is a place to play out similar drama. Looking for the troubles of operating a university and facing its challenges from sports team drama to any 'isms the school may face (The Quad), we have it. Looking for living the down and out life (Shameless) and trying to get by from day to day, we have it. Power play and drama among the wealthy (Dynasty, Dallas), executives and agents in the corporate life (Mad Men), crime and medical drama (take your pick of the many), hardships of life and middle age dealing with the past (This is Us).
