but something doesn't have to be debilitating to be a legitimate, diagnosable disorder.

I mean. That sort of is the definition of a disorder. Debilitating, like the disorders themselves, is a spectrum. You still have a broken leg, regardless as to whether you can hobble around on crutches or are stuck in a wheelchair.

@paris As a person that lives with my own brain, I can confirm that yes it is very much more than that.
I tend to use 'manic depressive' even though that's a term no longer in general service. It works better as a descriptor, and doesn't get in the way when actual 'bipolarity' is an accurate term to describe something not related to brain-fuckery.

I also use the word brain-fuckery. Like, a lot.

'they're free so being poor isn't an excuse' isn't really all that accurate

The point being made, at least originally, was that it's an excuse used by people that opt (as in are in a position to choose) to not vaccinate. It got muddled, as things do, but it's still an accurate thing to say when talking about stupid people, not poor people.

The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella) is free in Australia, for children. And it's a pittance for adults.

This isn't a socialised vs American healthcare issue that I have. It's a 'there is literally no excuse for not being vaccinated' issue. Measles is spreading throughout my state here in Australia, to the point where schools (when they reopen in a week) will be affected.

Children will get ill and die.

We, over here, roll our eyes whenever another massacre happens in the United States and the rigamarole that surrounds it. This is the same damned thing. I don't care if you don't like getting needles, or you don't believe in vaccination, or whatever. Get the fucking jab and save some lives, you selfish twats.

ETA: Naturally those that are immuno-compromised, or otherwise cannot take vaccinations on medical grounds, are exempt from my rage.

If you hold a seminar, with a hundred other human beings in attendance, on a day that's over a hundred degrees (37°C+), USE THE FUCKING AIRCONDITIONING.

I feel like the only way to get people to work together in a mage setting is to make it so they can't self-solve everything. Mage wasn't really written to do that but in practice, so many games end up in this position.

Agreed. Especially if you're adding it in as a sphere (when you want inter-sphere dealings), rather than having it on its own. If XYZ can solve every problem, why bother with anything else?

I think you're vastly overestimating the important of Michelin stars to the average restaurant

I think you're vastly underestimating what I consider to be a restaurant. As I did, specifically, state: I was talking about fine dining restaurants. And I really don't give a damn about American anything.

Ugh, I have a mild peeve today.

In the culinary world, there are only one set of 'stars' that actually count for everyone. Michelin stars. And the maximum number awarded is three.

So if you say your restaurant has five stars, you're being intentionally disingenuous. It may even be true, that some magazine or tabloid awarded your restaurant that many stars in a review - but you know perfectly well what a star-rated restaurant means. Stop that.

I've always been under the impression that it's fine dining restaurants that Michelin focuses on. So while La Snoot might be all over their second Michelin Star, Joe's Diner getting 5 stars on Yelp is about as good as it's going to get.

That doesn't at all change what I said.

Michelin don't solely focus on 'fine dining', though when I say the word restaurant, that's generally what I mean. If it is an unqualified statement, as in "five-star restaurant" then it is misleading.

It definitely needs to be quoted by your client, with a one second (or more, I can't recall off hand) delay, so that all the code has time to run before you put the next bit in.
