Do you know of another one? If so please share!
I usually check out places based on word of mouth recommendations or bbposts on other games.

This place can't seriously be the only source for information on new and upcoming games...

Waking up.
I mean, beats the alternative.
Some days, like when it's going to be a hundred and ten degrees and I have to keep genetic aberrations that are allegedly my children entertained with our internet going down faster than a Kardashian...

If you're a random player coming over to MSB
Well that's their first mistake.
Just make sure they only summon a great old one while you're home. Don't want that being handled by the babysitter.

and they just decide they'd rather not deal with that in the future.
I think it depends entirely on how they express such "nope, I'm out."
@ortallus I'd take with a pinch of salt any required consequence that removes you from play without being able to jump in with a new character. Death is easier to deal with than imprisonment, because you can make a new character and plod along again.
So those kinds of consequences, the first handful of times, should definitely have built-in (and optional) outs.

It's not what I want, it's not the same, and thus it's not pleasurable.
I'll take "Things I used to say to drunk girls when I worked at a bar for six hundred."

Shall we keep ranting in circles about it
Ranting is all I'm here for.

It swiftly becomes Q&A+commentary+random enthusiasm+criticism.
And when it does become such it is swiftly merged with the "you can't post that here" flailing (no, I won't stop going on about it it annoys me) for eventually @Arkandel to show up and sort of shrug about it.
@paris "owner locked" means the advertiser can add to it, if I'm understanding correctly.
I think we need less admin involvement, not more. Unless we can expect reliable and uniform application of the rule - whatever it turns out to be.

Otherwise, it's absolutely just an echo chamber.
An echo chamber crossed with a circle jerk.
And if you count the smoke being blown up game-runners' asses it's an echo chamber, a circle jerk, and a wind tunnel. Nasty, nasty combination.
That's another decent idea. Forums are for conversation. If you don't want a conversation, have an ads section on the eventually-arriving wiki.

The moderators have previously asked people to chime in when they think someone is stepping over the line.
Yes. I know. That is literally the problem.

If there are any important updates
If the updates are important enough, they can post a new ad.
I'd also recommend, in the case of locking ad threads as they are posted, to 'enforcing' a uniform template for advertisments. To ensure that information is all we're getting, rather than the biases of the advertiser.
Name of the game, connection details, links to websites/wiki/etc. Brief blurb about the game. Codebase information. Targeted initial playerbase size. Etc.
Okay, since I have to be 'constructive' I'll add these points:
