@icanbeyourmuse Entire angel squad goes rogue. Caught behind enemy lines with no hope of rescue. Hated by their enemies, abandoned by their allies. The only ones left to turn to... each other.

This fall, on NBC. Reach Out and Touched by an Angel.

@auspice I was considering a similar concept. A Fallen Angel who wanted. And it was the appeal of actually having choice for once that precipitated the fall.

On a more serious note, I'd be interested to see if any research had been done into the stupidity of children in other (read: not white American) cultures.

I don't know if one can quantify stupidity to work out which generation did the stupidest thing in their youth, but that'd be an interesting study to see too.

Man. Back in my day we had it so much better. There were twice as many Germanies.

@snackness True. I'd add that the news media becoming more enamoured with social media, thus reporting on trends as news, adds more of a "this is a problem that must be solved! Think of the children!" in the minds of adults.

Oh my god, why is complaining about this still a thing?

Because it's what our parents did about us, their parents did about them, and their parents did about them. Kids do stupid shit, and adults call that stupid shit stupid. Also their music sucks, movies aren't as good now, and nobody speaks English properly anymore.

I don't often do anything under 2 hours at all, because it feels like it doesn't get anywhere.

It depends on how long one must wait between poses. If you're posing every five minutes, you can get a lot done.

Nor do I think scenes need to strive for any sort of 'resolution'.

I would argue that we don't need a narrative resolution, but we do need an 'end' point for the scene. Otherwise they can (and do) carry on far too long. I'd far prefer short and snappy than long and drawn out most of the time. I don't have the free time to invest in marathon scenes anymore.

    • RE: Ideal Scene Length?

A scene is done when it is done. If it is only meant to be a ten minute conversation, then the ideal length is ten minutes. So the ideal length is variable.

Anything longer than three hours for a single scene, unless it is of exceptional quality (hint: It almost never is), is too long.

People calling it urban fantasy/horror are also wrong, because it's not urban?

It doesn't have to be strictly urban to be of a similar enough flavour to urban fantasy.

@roz said in Spirit Lake: An Original Modern Fantasy Game:

it is absolutely not baked into the theme the way it is for WoD

Yeah, most WoD games don't tend to focus on the horror bit either.

      Umm... it kinda is?

If having a complaint is "giving grief" in your world, I don't want to live there.

@faraday said in Spirit Lake: An Original Modern Fantasy Game:

Especially when said complaint gets dragged across several pages of posts.

That's the nature of a forum.

@faraday said in Spirit Lake: An Original Modern Fantasy Game:

And especially when it's in direct contradiction of the "Rules of Engagement" for the Ads section.

      Then it'll be split off.
