I was raised that if I'm not early then I'm late. So I am now super early to everything. v_v

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@crayon I would kick puppies for a Xanth game. Or color panties. Or find what's between the Roc and the Hard Place.

RE: RL Anger
Which really just goes to show that not one of those 20,000 so-called Christians watched even a single episode of Good Omens before determining that its 'promoting satanism' and 'needs to be stopped'. Probably for the children.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Sparks Simple and Clean Kingdom's Heart. The second I hear this song, I think of the game, and vice versa. Have since the very first game, and its carried through every single sequel they've made.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@BetterNow The tusked ape was listed only as Behemoth and the giant dude in Germany is Methuselah. But they did say that there's 17 they knew of and counting. So like.. that one in Germany didn't seem to have a Site near it, meaning it could easily have been an unknown one. They mentioned one in Wyoming, but not the one in Arizona that cropped up? There was mention in the headlines during the credits of both Scylla and a giant squid that was not named. So they've certainly set it up for there to be more kaiju, including a bunch of new ones. Personally? I just want my Gamera to show up.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Godzilla King of Monsters was goddamn majestic and I will hear nothing against it! The human element was as thoroughly gone into as it needed to be to move their part of the plot along, which was just enough to remind us that yes, this is a kaiju world... but we still live in it too. And that's where it should be. Because its a fucking kaiju world we just live in it.

@Wretched said in RL things I love:
@Too-Old-For-This 'I am at the main office is this right?' is coide for 'i didn't even try to read the delivery instruction s and instead of the no hassle delivery I wan'ted i now have to put on some fucking shoes and come after you like i was god damned Balto.
Oh no. Mama don't trek for food. If I'm paying a delivery fee PLUS tip? Your ass is coming to my HOUSE. Not the front of the park, not the main office, not three doors down on the wrong side of the street. MY HOUSE.

RE: RL things I love
@Auspice I'm positive they don't. Because every time, I mention 'oh the directions are on the notes' they immediately go 'oh' and hang up. AND LO AND BEHOLD, my food arrives like 90 seconds later.

RE: RL things I love
@Wretched Man, I live in a mobile home community. The address is confusing because the MHC owners want everything to use the address of the COMMUNITY, even though there are named streets inside it, confusing literally everyone. I have saved in driving directions 'take X street on enter, follow to Y street, take left, # house on the left' and I still get calls of 'I can't find your house' or 'I'm at the main office, is this right?'.

I love both Divinity games, but I haven't been able to get a friend to stick with it long enough for us to get anywhere.

RE: RL things I love
@Arkandel Only bonus to where I live. NOBODY rides bicycles here. There's barely usable roads, no bike lanes, barely any sidewalks, and some of the worst drivers in the US. My food will always arrive warm.

RE: Our Tendency Towards Absolutes
To be quite fair, my actual point was that there should be standards of conduct that are applied equally to both staff and players. If its not something a player should be doing/saying/behaving, then the same goes for staff. And vice versa. I expounded on one possible reasoning for why there may be more vocal calls for more stringent policies regarding staffing, as viewed from what I've seen happen both as a player and a staffer, across multiple games through the past few decades. Because that is what @Sparks was talking about. The demand for more stringent staffing policies to cover possible-maybe's and fringe cases. Its been a long and rocky road between players and staff and it really only seems to get worse as we all get older.

RE: Game of Thrones
@insomniac7809 I wasn't saying that he hadn't been a known quantity before. He was in Elf in 2003, Lassie remake in 2005, Death at a Funeral in 2007, Chronicles of Narnia in 2008, the OTHER Death at a Funeral in 2010, also when he did Pete Smalls is Dead. Ice Age was 2012, but close enough. And my personal fave... Knights of Badassdom in 2013. I'm just saying, he's hit massive mainstream audiences by being in a Marvel movie.

RE: Game of Thrones
The thing is... many of the tops stars from GoT either already had or have begun to have better careers already. Sophie Turner, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Iain Glen, Alfie Allen, Natalie Dormer, Jason Momoa.... they'll all done and been in blockbuster/cult classic movies in recent years (whether they are remembered or not) even Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Rose Leslie, and Rory McCann have been seen in major movies in the last few years. So I guess that leaves.. what.. Kit Harington, Isaac Hempstead, John Bradley? Maybe a few others? Shit, even Gwendolyn Christie has been in Star Wars now. Nathalie Emmanuel has been in both the Maze Runner trilogy and the Fast & the Furious franchise. Maybe Carice van Houten? She's got three movies in post-production for this year, though... Maisie has seen steady work since she started on GoT. She was in three movies and two shorts last year. They just hit post-production on The New Mutants, in which she plays Wolfsbane. She was also in a show called Gen: Lock this year. And she's currently filming a movie called The Owners.
Seems like most everyone has already received a fairly substantial boost to their career.
@Thenomain Peter Dinklage was just in Infinity Wars and Three Billboards, he's currently doing voicework for two animated films based on hot IP's (Angry Birds and The Croods), he's rumored to be doing The Wild Bunch, is in pre-production for The Thicket, and has been announced in The Dwarf. He's made his mark and is here to stay.

RE: Our Tendency Towards Absolutes
I will take the devil's advocate tack here, I suppose. In large part, however, I do agree that there should be more of a mindset towards openness than we often see.
SO. My one niggling thing. As much as staff are players, staff are also staff. When a player 'goes bad' they can be escorted out the door by staff. When a staffer 'goes bad' it often seems like its much harder both to prove evidence of wrongdoing and to get other staff to act on it. And I get it. Staff are often OOC/IRL friends with one another, they are trusted (at least to an extent) by the other staff. Its far far easier to just handwave off a player complaint of staff abuse with 'they were just having a bad day, I know Staffer Y would never normally do that'. But this is why standards of conduct (player and staff alike) should be implemented. And, in my experience (ymmv), when staff do start to display undesirable or abusive traits, it often starts with people who are considered bad or problem players. So it often goes unremarked upon for a much longer time because nobody is going to generally think twice if some swipes are taken at an asshole. If it continues on and complaints go unresolved.. well, this is why you have a lot players gunshy about reporting abuse in the first place. They've been conditioned to accept that nothing will come of it (at best) or they will be actively targeted by said staffer (at worst). This is also what breeds resentment and lingering mistrust of staff. And yes, I know, we can always 'vote with our feet'. But when you have a massive game like any of the last few bit WoD games, Arx, Firan, etc. you're going to have the vast majority of people who either aren't experiencing this so have no reason to leave or are willing to overlook it because there's no other game of this type they can go to so are hesitant to leave an active game in which they've invested time and effort.
TLDR; Staff are every bit as capable of abuse and misconduct as players, all people on a game should be held to equal standards of conduct whether they are staff or player. But I can see why there are the occasional cries for stricter enforcement on staff, it is (IMHO) much harder to deal with a 'bad' staffer than a 'bad' player. 10-20 years of watching nearly as many staff break rules or abuse players as the players themselves do have shown that its far less likely for a 'bad' staffer to be shown the door than a 'bad' player.

RE: RL Anger
@Arkandel Pfft, you will go in there only to find that they have all been in there for three days without you knowing. They have managed to change the settings for the locks, the camera is set to motion capture only, and somehow the ten year supply of cat food is down to one.

I don't even think Thanos was a villain. Thanos was a plot-point.
Thanos is a Goth-boy, if purple was the abject color-du-jour.
He just didn't have the hair to flip.
Wouldn't that make him an emo Goth-boy?
