@noodle-mcdoodle An observation for you.... Nowhere in any of the advertising for Spirit Lake did any of you state that this was meant to be a small game. In fact, by opening to the public and posting advertisement for your game on MSB, you're in fact implying just the opposite. If anything, you seem to be encouraging more people to app in by saying 'Players are actively encouraged to run plots, write spells, create magical worlds, and invent creatures'. This suggests that you are going to rely more on the playerbase being able to entertain themselves than to expect staff-driven plot. Perhaps next time be more upfront with your limitations? Your game though, so grain of salt and all that.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@prototart Ooooooo... I wonder if I could get the 360 version through the store on my Xbox One! That would save me having to hunt down a physical copy for the PS2.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@prototart Worth it. I'm hunting down a copy of Katamari Damacy for my PS2. Because who doesn't love rolling the world into a ball?!

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@auspice The worst part is I even HAVE chapstick AND use it. I just... end up licking my lips without thinking!

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@auspice I split my lip sneezing last week. I still have a tiny scab because I also have a terrible habit of licking my lips when I'm nervous or concentrating.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@auspice I used to keep one with the ancient Nissan Altima I had. That thing ran forever but was constantly showing 'something wrong'.

@aria Might I suggest 'splurging' on your own car code reader? It will let you scan the computer when the check engine light comes on so you can tell them exactly what's wrong. They aren't terribly expensive anymore and you can snag one off Amazon with good ratings.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
@silverfox You're not alone. My housemate and I fight over this movie all the time. He thinks it was brilliant and wonderful and I'm over here grumbling about how the first female standalone movie turned into a 'love conquers all' love story.

RE: Holiday materialism! Let's talk gifts.
We bought mostly 'family' gifts this year. ie. things the entire family can enjoy. Namely, Amazon Fire Sticks for all the tv's and an Xbox One S for the living room, as well as a blue-ray player that also is in the living room. There may also have been a Chinese knockoff NES mini preloaded with 500 games. >.> <.< So that, then gift cards galore so we could let the kids buy up games and movies for said consoles. And a yearly subscription to Boomerang, because retro cartoons are still the best.

RE: The Board Game Thread
In our household, we are eagerly awaiting the return of friends after holidays because we just added Epic Spell Battle and Munchkin (ALL THE MUNCHKINS) to our Tabletop Simulator. We also found a game in Barnes & Noble the other day that is legit a Choose Your Own Adventure game. Requires only a single player, though it can handle more.

RE: Who are you?
This seems fun! Lets see how badly I can do...
- Funyuns are my 'slut' food. As in, I will do damn near anything for them. They replaced Salt & Vinegar chips when I discovered them in my pre-teens.
- I have a secret stash of romance novels on my Google Books/Kindle libraries. Not quite Harlequin romance levels of bad, but many of them toe that line aaaaaaaaaawful close.
- I love cats. Fite me. Dogs can go bark up a tree for all I care, give me floofs and toebeans and haughty 'I meant to do that' expressions!
- I too am very simple in my food likes and can eat a single thing for weeks at a time, no fucks given.
- I never really got into 'anime' despite it becoming really popular right around my teens.
- Across my lifetime, I have had my tongue pierced twice, my ears pierced once, gotten three tattoos... and currently have only the tattoos.
- I have no allergies. At all. To anything. Which apparently in this day and age is extremely rare. Along with being just generally healthy, I guess?
- I don't like baths, it just feels gross to sit in standing water.

RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@groth Hmmmm, I'll have to tinker with it more and see if my numbers change. Right now 300 seems to be my sweet spot for Haggling, and I still occasionally have to roll more than once if I want to get the full 300 or the really good price. Admittedly, I haven't been buying resources from Haggle, I go through the broker so other people can get some of that silver flow too.

RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@lisse24 Hey! So if you want a quick and dirty rundown on haggling and the broker, feel free to page me in game. Lore is the character name. Sorry you couldn't get more help initially, I think a lot of people get burnt out from being asked the same questions over and over, so it gets condensed down to 'look at the help file'. I've gotten the same response for asking questions about specific things. Mostly I just try not to take it personally and poke at someone I know for the help I need.
-
RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@groth But that bonus is what helps me to get a better price on the amount.
-
RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@groth Perception 4/Streetwise 5. 300 is about as high as I can consistently haggle at and still get a good deal. Pricewise, 375 seems to be my average.
-
RE: Constructive (keyword) Criticism of Arx Systems
@groth I think you're relying far too much on theory and not enough on reality. I have never, ever been able to sell more than 300 resources in a single shot.
