@Ganymede No Cheezburger, sadly. I don't think he survived the nukes. You get Timber the Dog, Horatio the Boar... and Nana. Who may well be my favorite companion of all time.

@Cobaltasaurus I highly recommend. This is the only series that I've actually followed this long and had every entery get successively better than the last.

Far Cry New Dawn is amazing thus far. I'm not terribly far into it, but the graphics are wonderful, the gameplay is excellent, there's a real sense of urgency and danger without making it seem impossible. And the characters are great.

RE: How To Treat Your Players Right
@TiredEwok Except that really, a line should be dropped to staff if things have gotten to the point that you're having to block someone from contacting you. You don't have to demand immediate response but at least an @mail saying 'hey, so-and-so has been harassing me to the point that I've blocked them from further communication. Just a heads up to put in the file, keep an eye on, etc.'
A LOT of creepers and harassers get away with harassment because nobody says anything. For all you know, you're the sixth person to block Creepy McCreepface. If staff needs a good reason to talk to someone, people blocking them from contact is a good point to start.

RE: MU Things I Love
@SinCerely I like giving crafters materials and either a color scheme or 'theme' and then tell them to go nuts.

@Ganymede Also you can ask the people on the game if you're feeling stumped! People are super helpful with suggestions, and staff is usually around to help answer questions!

@Auspice To be fair, the worst physical pain I've ever experienced in my life - bar none - was a cracked, infected tooth. It was near the back of my mouth and had it happen on a Thursday night when I lived in a small city for a while whose dentists were all going to a convention for the weekend.
That weekend. Was not. Fun. I couldn't sleep, I could barely function.
I suspect human life before reliable dentistry was not a lot of fun a lot of the time.
I had the bad fortune of a wisdom tooth breaking, waited too long, so it got infected too. It ws so bad that my ex-husband drove me to the emergency room the night before Thanksgiving. Needless to say, nobody got to me until Monday. That weekend was utter misery.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Yeah, I have brushed my teeth at least once a day every day since I was old enough to know how. I've still had a crown, two extractions, and 8 fillings. My son, despite being 15 and going to the dentist every year and brushing his teeth regularly, has also had four fillings. Sometimes you just get the shit end of the stick.

@surreality This sounds like conversations between me and my housemates.
Me: 'Hey guys, I could use some help cleaning up, there's a lot of stuff to do...'
Them: 'Oh sure, we can help.'
twenty minutes later while I'm elbow-deep in cleaning
Me: 'Guys? Are you.. gonna help?'
Them: 'What, now?!'
Me: 'Yes, now.' ((Internal Thought: Because when in the EVER have I requested unspecified future help of nebulous origins!))
Them: 'UGH. Fiiiiiiiiiiiine.'
ten minutes later
Me: 'Guys? Are you going to help?'
Them: 'I just want to finish this.. <insert whatever thing they are doing that can totally be paused and that they didn't actually start until after I asked for help the first time>'
Me: stares straight ahead and spends 30 glorious seconds imagining myself strangling said housemates, sighs, returns to cleaning
fifteen minutes later
Them: Okay, so what do you want us to do?
Me: Floors need to be vacuumed, garbage needs to go out, there's a box to go in the back of the car for Goodwill, and all those cardboard boxes need to be broken down and taken out. Also, you haven't changed your cats' litter in like, weeks. So maybe that too before they start peeing on the rug near the door again?' ((Because we've gone through three rugs already from this exact issue))
ten minutes later
Me: looking at the cat litter on the carpet because they changed it after they vacuumed, the brand new garbage bag that now has REEKING cat litter and vacuum bag leavings in it because they took out the trash before doing either of the other two, the box that's STILL sitting next to the door and hasn't gone out to the car, and the cardboard boxes are gone but all the bits of tape and packing peanuts and those little airbags are now littering the floor because they didn't take care of any of that stuff after breaking down the boxesWhat follows is usually a ten minute coffee and Cat Cafe break for me, following by an argument with the housemates wherein they get pissy because I'm so demanding of their time and so picky about how things are done and how they don't understand why everything is their fault and how come I keep nagging at them to do, you know, basic things any human adult should be doing. My teenager picks up after himself better.

Someone needs to come up with a system where no matter your game store, you can just find your game and launch it without launching the launcher
Oh hello, slightly younger and more ignorant me, have you tried Playnite yet? I'm about to. I'll let you know how it is.

RE: I know it's an old topic but to this day....
Most children anymore can get free vaccinations for school, I know I had to do that with my son a few times when he was much younger because fuck the cost of insurance in this country. And if you're on state health, vaccinations and boosters are considered part of the 'yearly checkup'. So there's literally no excuse for it. Its a little tetchier for adults since the lost cost/no cost places tend to be first come first serve and have a limited amount of any given vaccine.

@arkandel +1, would Kickstart
I would nominate @Sparks , but I think I know her enough that if she was motivated she wouldn't need to be paid. I'm the same way most of the time.
In those cases I generally try to scour the forum and see if I can't sneaky donate to a Patron or Paypal account. >.> Because people should get something for their effort!

RE: I know it's an old topic but to this day....
@magee101 You would want to check the lifespan for individual vaccines. Some (like the flu vaccine) change or are updated over the years. And this isn't stuff that most people think about. I sure as Hell wouldn't have if my kid hadn't gone out of country and needed boosters on some of his old vaccines.
-
RE: I know it's an old topic but to this day....
@magee101 Depends on how long ago the other kids were vaccinated. Most vaccines have a lifespan, after so many years its up to you as an adult to take care of it. Or in the case of your kids, re-upping the vaccine. As mentioned earlier, the MMR vaccine only has a lifespan of 8-10 years. Most kids last got it when they entered school at like 5-6. Even if the vaccine is still floating around, you can still become a carrier for that disease. Let me know how often adults bother to get re-vaccinated against stuff they haven't dealt with since they were in kindergarten.

RE: I know it's an old topic but to this day....
@mietze My son was actually re-vaccinated against Tdap, MenB, Pneumococcal, Hep A & B, Polio, MMR, and HPV a few years back when he went out of country during summer break. So he's fine! But I will agree that the vaccine requirements for school kids is probably not the best. I also know there was a huge talk hosted at the school last week about how vaccines are required for school and that anyone whose child does not meet the requirements will be suspended until they do. So I'm fairly confident in saying at least ONE kid was never vaccinated in the first place.
