So I mean yeah make it as accessible as possible.. is fun for neither party and actively detrimental.
To paraphrase from Apos above... making it accessible is HUGE. Huge... but making it accessible in a way that is fun for both staff and players is big too. I've run into a couple of situations personally where to get into metaplot on games you had to have a staff run scene or two to teach you the secret handshake, bath you in demon blood, or what have you.. but the staffer that gets assigned that duty has had to do it a few times already and they aren't engaged anymore. To the player it's new and fresh, but not so to the staff.. and so it gets put off. Days, weeks, up to six months in one case for me before I just gave up, meanwhile the assigned staffers are running plots and scenes that they find enjoyable.

RE: Respecs.
I'm generally for respecs in a couple of situations.
When someone has a concept but doesn't understand the system so their build doesn't necessarily reflect the concept as well as it good. The above example of Fencing merit. Someone that is supposed to be an expert swordsman should probably have a merit to reflect it.
and when the system changes things in a way that makes it so their build doesn't reflect their concept. Same thing with the master swordsman, but say the Fencing merit was a newly added house custom.

I set my home thermostat to 66 and get anxiety if anyone raises it. Heating oil ain't cheap.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
I hate writing descs. I have a bank of 3 I've just rotated through all of my characters everywhere I've played in the last several years. Sometimes alts on the same game will have the same desc, maybe I'll change the hair color. I would try to avoid just having a URL or link to a photo as a desc though so that occasionally blind MU*er still has some idea of what's going on.

RE: Open Sheets?
When I last played on a non-FS3 game that had open sheet they were an invaluable tool for running/planning PRPs too.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
I think in this case it's less winging it and more that Carrie Fisher died. From what I read Leia had been intended to be a giant part of the final film to the trilogy so they have had to scrap the entire thing.

RE: L5R 5E
I know nothing about the system or game or whatever.. but seeing that their dice app cost $4.99 makes me never want to deal with them as a company. that's just obnoxious.

RE: Wheel of Time
What Rucket said. from ease of install, use and modification Ares really is awesome. There are some quirks in not a fan of but unless someone has a lot of time on their hands Ares would be the way to go even if you make your own stat/combat system

..but I understand that wasn’t his fault.
I think this is true for Matt Smith too. Can't really say that HE was the problem, but everything else going on with the show. I think I made it through 1.5 seasons with him as the doctor before I just lost the urge to watch anymore.

RE: Period Piece Face vs Modern Face
I think a lot of it has to do with costuming more than faces.
but also this

RE: City of Shadows
To build on this:
access to plot is not universal - I can run scenes for my cabal/coterie/pack, but how does that help Joe Newbie from a weird timezone?
don't make joining a cabal/Coterie/Pack/Whatever a requirement for involvement. it's my unpopular opinion that those small groups aren't a good fit for a MU. they are great for table top but I've rarely seen them done in an online game where it's been a Good Thing and good number of players avoid them.

RE: The limits of IC/OOC responsibility
Everything Mietze said. Being a great leader does not mean you're a great RPer and vice versa.
Part of the OOC responsibility of taking on IC leadership is recognizing your limitations and wants out of a position and not taking it if you aren't able to meet its requirements.
Though it actually reminds me of a game when a great RPer took on a position of leadership just to be a terrible leader. It was actually pretty fun and awesome all around. They OOCly knew they were a terrible leader and inept as a ruler.. and ICly blissfully unaware of their incompetence. We had to scramble to fix the problems they created and worked to depose them for the good of the kingdom.

RE: A fully OC supers MU
Dark Spires was DFRPG which is basically FATE and it worked really well. Staff had no problem saying no, but even as a player running plots I never really ran into issues with others trying to game the system. For most of the game's run it was one of the most cooperative feeling game environments I've ever played on.

Not yet. Was waiting for Ares to be released before poking at it

RE: Welcome to the Euphoria!
If more descs were like that I'd actually read them. I hope this catches on!

RE: Good TV
@auspice It wasn't just the genre. Season 1 had some funk/soul too. It was more how the music was just so infused in the episode. It was like another character on the show and not just background.
This season it seems like there is just a lot more of it and it's so watered down compared to the effect it had last time.

I've never gotten a character right in my head until I played him in at least 5-6 scenes with different people. It just takes me that long to stretch him out, see what makes him tick and experiment with different voices until one just feels like him.
This is why i hate writing backgrounds more than a couple sentences long. I don't know how they are, how they were shaped, until I get a chance to play them a bit
