The Dresden files fate based game I played on definitely didn't need a GM around for magic anymore than a WoD mage game would.
Looking forward to seeing where this all goes

Ugh. Netflix cancelled daredevil too. Going to guess none of their Marvel shows will survive the Disney streaming service launch.
I think it largely depends on how much time you're handwaving. A day? sure. Weeks? Probably not.
As Mercutio said, don't put up barriers between people being able to RP together, but put limits on what people can do. Ideally this can be accomplished in a way that if I have 10 hours to RP in a week I don't have to spend 8 of them waiting in a shuttle to travel, but at the same time limit people for instant teleporting about from scene to scene or making month long journeys around an entire country in the span of a night while everyone else is still RPing about packing for the trip.
Or maybe people want to know if there are already 15 people waiting to pounce on the 5 mage spots that may open up in the future?
@surreality That i think is a really good way to put it... shoot for Black Sails, accept a Knights Tale and David Bowie.

After the books could be interesting but... eh. Something about it just doesn't appeal to me... I guess it doesn't feel Wheel of Time to me. It's post-Wheel of Time, not actual Wheel of Time. But that could just be me.
It strikes me as odd to, but I can't quite put my finger on why. The big thing is that the main conflict is over. The Last Battle happened and its on to something else. but that something else is intriguing.
The question of Prophecy was brought up and if that sort of thing interests people there at always more prophecies out there and after the books seems the best place for that. Bao the Wyld for example if you haven't read that is a great example of this.

I'll be surprised if the game doesn't plummet precipitously after this.
Eh.. I'll be surprised if it does.
Most MUers either a) haven't heard of MSB b) don't follow MSB c) won't care anyways
My thoughts on spoilers had been its way past time to worry about those too but then a couple of people mentioned reading the books.. but they can just be spoiled. Really nothing super surprising occurs that is an OMG didn't see that happening moment.
"prince played by Jensen Ackles is a badass swordsman" describes not a small amount of characters actually.
@arkandel it's not built in like FSS, but there is a perfectly functional dice roller.
@deadempire It's too late. They know all the terrible things already.
I actually have both running on the server right now but probably leaning towards Ares just because it's so slick out of the box. I am curious to see how web chargen willl go once I rip out and replace FS3 though.
I would still prefer to code in Python instead of Ruby, but it's a lot of extra coding in evennia to get it to functionality already in Ares. I haven't made a decision 100% one way or another so we'll see what happens once I'm done the system design phase.
Figured the advertisement board wasn't the place for this.
I am curious was there have been a few (3 I think? At least 3) games set in Maine and all of them have been large cities that don't exist in the state.
As a state we are largely rural and heavily forested with a low population density especially once you get above North Massachusetts (Portland, ME). The largest city has less than 70,000 people and the state 1.3 million
Are people aiming for the old colonial time history with spooky, desolate woods to go with it? I totally get why no one chooses NH though. UNH is there and screw those losers.
@bluebird Joe Abercrombie's stuff. All of it is pretty good and the audiobooks well done.
Also the Dresden Files based game Tenebrous Isles.
I must be seriously unpopular. Nobody tells me anything about anyone else's personal life.
Careful what you wish for...
Or Arkandel will start detailing all the aches and pains in his old, decaying husk of a body.
Someone has volunteered to help with building!
