RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
The OK symbol below the waist. If I look at it, I got got. I don't care what some tiny fringe group tries to claim it as. If I make it and you see it, No, you don't get to think I'm a white supremacist. You except that you've been Gotten and take the punch to the shoulder like a good sport. Same way it's been for 30+ years.
I have a female relative that used to always complain about how she could never sleep unless she fell asleep before her husband because of his snoring and that she didn't snore. I took a poll of her grand kids asking them who snored louder between Grandma and Grandpa. Every single one, uncoached and unaware of the others answers, said Grandma. She stopped complaining but I don't think likes me very much for pointing it out.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
Figured I'd throw this out there since I just put an update about the TV show too.
Still not dead! But kinda back burner now since it's just me. In the mean time I am helping code another project that will likely end up sharing a lot of code with this place so it is still being worked on, but only on the back end side. Theme, building, etc will come later.

RE: Post-Covid 19 world
On a positive side, I do think thing will bring about some good changes in medical sciences and technology. AI/Machine Learning (all you cybersecurity folks can take a drink) led medical research into drug efficacy may possible allow for a rapid response to similar diseases in the future. A vaccine is already in clinical trials months after the virus was detected. 3D printing is being utilized to quickly address design failures and shortages.
None of those are perfect right now, but if any prove successful they will see a ton of investment and further growth.
And hopefully hospitals will actually start to take their DR planning seriously.

RE: Getting Young Blood Into MU*'ing
@Sunny Oh yeah, I deleted the line where I put that there may be that expectation somewhere by I'm not going to feel bad about ignoring it because it's terrible and the people that want it are bringing great shame to their family.

Newer vehicles have warnings built in to check the back seat when you turn it off because people forget their offspring back there. Other things are bound to be forgotten too

self-starters who can make it up as they go along
This itself is "what can I do when I log in?" It may be exactly what the game is there for or that sort of thing may be actively discouraged to avoid theme going in odd directions. (See games that have had zombie Apocalypse beach parties with DJs and cupcakes or Pirates of the Caribbean mango rum drinking ocean raiders for example)

Part of me hopes pandemic fashion forces people to actually standardize sizing across brands.
Yeah. Even in men's pants sizes where it is supposedly by actual inches measured there can be a huge variation between brands. I remember seeing a story on it somewhere where they bought a few different brands of the same 36" waist and there was a 4-6" spread between them

But is TSing the prince more viable than FTB with the prince?

You can use this as marketing. Buy a cat for your enemies!
I'm going to commission one for all the Big Bads. Even if only one keels over I'll still be a hero.

RE: Privacy in gaming
I deal with privacy laws/compliance in a professional capacity. If I was going to be hosting a game, especially if I lived in the EU, I sure as hell would have a privacy policy in place that is part of the login screen.
I get that not everyone views privacy as a right or even a realistic expectation on a MU but a lot of people and government bodies do nowadays. they may not legally care about your hawt TS poses but if, for a example, you're discussing your health history on an Ares chat channel that's posted in the channel history to a webpage, the owner of the site could be looking at a GDPR violation if proper notice hasn't been given.

RE: A bit of trouble on Firefly
I would say that he is mostly harmless, just annoying to game runners..
To the players he harasses though he can be more detrimental. At least one MU player I'm aware of has/had a RL restraining order against him. Another probably would have if they were in the same country. Just be careful folks.

Engineers only have to make it work in theory. Not in practice
This only applies to sales engineers

When at a drive thru during a busy time don't get up to the speaker and ask the person taking the orders "what would you recommend that isn't coffee"
It's Dunkin' Donuts and the line is out to the street. Just pick something and movd along.

Yay. Electric rates increasing 50% and Nat Gas prices having a similar price spike compared to last year. Here's to hoping for the mild winter that's being forecasted.
