      @MarsGrad said in Dark/Low-Fantasy with a Witcher-esque Feel:

The focus would be on a smallish city on the edge of civilization with characters being pulled from all walks of (commoner) life, such as artisans, soldiers, guards, bureaucrats, and laborers

So the focus wouldn't be on Witcher's or monster hunters or anyone with talent/etc?

What do you envision PCs doing? How would they react o the very real threats and monsters other than hiring an npc?

    • RE: The Work Thread

I'm just more surprised that there are schools out there that can afford to buy individual text books for elementary students

Nope. In a normal year they have their lunch box and maybe a single reading book.

Man, y'all live it easy down Souf.

What is the Ohio using as text books for 2nd grade?

What silverfox described is more or less what happens up here in the frozen too. I don't think any kids around here get actual text books until maybe 4th grade. I'm thinking more like 6th though.

Dammit Teagan don't die until I can ask you lawyer stuff.

Only then does Katarina give you permission to die

      Certainly saves on the bill

There's a grid that even has some descs and stuff. It's almost a real thing.

My previous post turned me into a liar. The other game isn't sharing any of the code.

      However!

Thanks to Faraday with Ares and Tat with Spirit Lake magic I'm giving this a whirl.

Still need to do some tweaking, but chargen seems to be functional.

Need to build more than a 3 room grid and do a bunch of wiki work but people can come by if they want. Maybe even lend a hand.

@mietze said in Pacing in Ares Scenes:

the assumptive norm of live action

This I think is the draw to MUing for a lot of people so that's hard.

It isn't for me, so it doesn't bother me. My "normal" ranges from 5 minutes to an hour between poses since I almost always am scening from work, but I also have done scenes that span over several weeks with poses every few days and I don't have a problem being 'in the moment' for those.

I do think a Pacing field for Ares scenes would be a good idea, even if it is just a text box to enter it in. "Live Action", "Daily", "Glacial", "WildBaboons Thinks You Are Rushing Things"

Going through the latest book makes me wish there was still a Dresden Files game around. Had so much fun on the last one I played at in its hay day.

    • RE: Magicy Shenanigans - high fantasy or more modern

There is always Dresden files rpg. I believe that mush code is still available.

Also Could ask the folks at spirit lake for their code that could probably be modified (relatively) easily if people wanted to use fs3

I definitely think that the "rotes" or "spells known" is the way to go though.

      Dropping Mage theme? Thumbs up!

I have a CVT transmission in my car so understand the worry... but at least in my experience (Nissan) the warranty on the transmission itself was much longer than the warranty on anything else for exactly that reason.

@buttercup definitely would not take the kids, especially if one is in an at risk group.

I would even go further and suggest that you quarantine from them when you return if you do choose to go.
