Ah, okay. So they were in conflict before the asteroid hit. Like I said, been awhile

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?posted in Mildly ConstructiveIt's been a long time since I've seen Starship Troopers... but didn't the Bugs start the war?

RE: High Fantasyposted in Mildly ConstructiveI'm sick and binged watch Lego Ninjago this weekend... that's totally where I went when you mentioned elemental based magic. probably not what you had in mind. But still. I am excited for this idea.

RE: How low can "low stakes" be and still be compelling for RP?posted in Mildly ConstructiveAny time you put paganism into a Mu you get trouble I've found. There is a not insubstational number of actual pagans that MU and they want things done right as opposed to pretendy fun times. Real world religion and politics.. don't discuss them with friends or play them on a MU. As a side note for Realms Adventerous.. has anyone heard from who took it over after Sir Kay? I can't remember her staff bit name there.. but last I heard from her her state was flooding, the MU went down, and nothing since. Hope she's all right.

RE: High Fantasyposted in Mildly ConstructiveYeah, I've not seen fate have any more of an issue with this any other system

RE: High Fantasyposted in Mildly ConstructiveI think fate is a great system for that sort of thing though I know others disagree. The Dresden Files RPG MUs out there have used time based "days" for gaining skills and fate points, I think 60 days for skills and 120 for fate. votes/nom type things were used for bonus days as well as bonus from running and attending plots. I would play the hell out of a Conan MU.

RE: Auspice Needs To Move!posted in Tastes Less Game'yAm I the only one taking everything that Meg and Auspice have said in the last day as a series of euphemisms?

RE: RL Angerposted in Tastes Less Game'yJust lie and tell them you're allergic to bactrim so they stop giving it to you. It will limit the choices available to you in the future as they'll probably avoid the whole family of drugs, but at it will force them to give you something different.

RE: Eliminating social statsposted in Mildly ConstructiveI'm wary of any Roll that supersedes the Role. I don't like Dice deciding how my character would react to a certain situation or person, especially if it's against the grain of the character. I think others have given the example of someone rolling a high manipulation roll against something and forcing them to confess to being a spy or some such. That's just silly. (magic abilities like mind control, etc are a different matter) Against NPC? Hell yeah. Social roll it up. Get that social character to manipulate the detective into suspecting Ganymede's character of murder.

RE: MU Pacingposted in Mildly ConstructiveI vastly prefer the slow burn... but at the same time my time to actually scene with people is very limited. It's hard to do a slow-burn friendship that can result in anything meaningful when you can only manage a couple of scenes together a month. Sometimes for other Plot reasons, things have to be rushed

RE: Fear and Loathing (Official Thread)posted in Adver-tis-mentsAppreciated. may take you up on it.

RE: Fear and Loathing (Official Thread)posted in Adver-tis-mentsI wish games like these had a sort of designated hitter for chargen. I loathe WoD as a system, but enjoy urban fantasy and its pretty much the only game in town but rarely make it through chargen with all the crunch involved in setting up a sheet

RE: Space Games and Travel Time? Why? Why Not?posted in MU Questions & RequestsNot being in the right location for a PVP scene or something like that is a pretty common problem across all MU, not just space based ones. It could just be from being across town at the time of the scene instead of across the galaxy. And I'm fine with IC travel time being enforced, but on the two space based games I have played on the actual travel time and the IC travel time haven't been the same thing. It might take a 30 minute coded flight to go from planet X to Y but we RP is took a week, for example.

Space Games and Travel Time? Why? Why Not?posted in MU Questions & RequestsI saw this being discussed on a game recently and am curious about peoples opinions. Personally I'm of the opinion that they are a PITA and a hindrance to RP. Having to tell someone that No, you can't RP with them because you need to sit along in a spaceship room for 3 hours to get to them isn't helping anyone. I understand the immersion aspect of them, but for me that does not outweigh the bad.

RE: RL things I loveposted in Tastes Less Game'y@Meg someone was mentioning how your puns were missed just yesterday

RE: What locations do you want to RP in?posted in Mildly ConstructiveI usually play from my phone. I run around in brief mode so it doesn't even display room descs. I don't feel bad at all. Not even a little. 99% of the time the room name is all you need. That said.. places that aren't Bars. It may be because RL I abhor the bar scene but I hate when places turn in to nothing but BaRP
