    • RE: Arx's Elevation Situation

      Maybe instead of being elevated it would be better if the lower ranking house just crushed their liege by force and took their spot?

      I made a house with some friends once and was offered Count position. Said no thanks and went with Barony to avoid these shenanigans.

      The OK symbol below the waist. If I look at it, I got got. I don't care what some tiny fringe group tries to claim it as. If I make it and you see it, No, you don't get to think I'm a white supremacist. You except that you've been Gotten and take the punch to the shoulder like a good sport. Same way it's been for 30+ years.

      I have a female relative that used to always complain about how she could never sleep unless she fell asleep before her husband because of his snoring and that she didn't snore. I took a poll of her grand kids asking them who snored louder between Grandma and Grandpa. Every single one, uncoached and unaware of the others answers, said Grandma. She stopped complaining but I don't think likes me very much for pointing it out.

    • RE: Good TV

      @Arkandel said in Good TV:

      @Ghost That's basically every single CW show. About 70% of the plot would be gone if only people with every reason to talk to each other spoke to each other.

      Is Arx taking over this thread too?

    • RE: Privacy in gaming

      I'm not a privacy lawyer, I'm just advised by them. And like Wendy's maybe a public chat channel wasn't the best example but these sorts of laws and regulations are still new and in a lot of cases untested. We could totally derail this thread to talk about GDPR and the CCPA and who knows what else but the point is that privacy is a thing. people expect it, the law in some cases and jurisdiction requires it.

      I totally may steal this thread and turn it into a talk at the next IAPP summit.

    • RE: Privacy in gaming

      A conversation in line at Wendy's isn't (probably) recorded and archived for who knows how long. but Ares also logs And archives Page conversations. not to pick on Ares, it's awesome and those features are awesome but Privacy is the topic at hand.

      But yeah, privacy policy! State it, repeatedly. Even "you have no expectation of privacy when you log in" works. Just let people know what they're getting in to.

    • RE: Privacy in gaming

      I deal with privacy laws/compliance in a professional capacity. If I was going to be hosting a game, especially if I lived in the EU, I sure as hell would have a privacy policy in place that is part of the login screen.

      I get that not everyone views privacy as a right or even a realistic expectation on a MU but a lot of people and government bodies do nowadays. they may not legally care about your hawt TS poses but if, for a example, you're discussing your health history on an Ares chat channel that's posted in the channel history to a webpage, the owner of the site could be looking at a GDPR violation if proper notice hasn't been given.
