@enoch I would also suggest that you consider (if you haven't already) characters like Sabretooth and Juggernaut as wild cards, agents of chaos, or whatever fits, if they have no particular side to align with and the idea of letting some exist to drive conflict on both sides is welcomed. Not necessarily them specifically, but characters like them. If that doesn't fit in, of course, that's fine.

RE: X-Men Game
It'd be good to keep it focused to mutants only, or at least make them the primary point of the game.
I also think it'd be good to break away from everything being centered around Xavier's School. Utopia itself may or may not be it, but it'd be a change from the usual at least.

@Vorpal Have you been talking about alien abductions too frequently again?

RE: Mutant Genesis (X-Men)
@ghost A lot of places ask for a little summary of ideas when you app a character, but my first impression of the +pitch system is a positive one. In case anyone missed it before, this is what they're aiming for:

RE: X-Men Game
That could also create a healthier FC/OC mix if it goes well. Some will just do one or the other, but some will try both.
ETA: not that there needs to be an in-game explanation for more mutants coming out of the woodwork in the case of new OCs, but the theme could potentially even deal with something happening that leads to a sudden boost in those with mutant powers. A mutagen of some kind, some villain doing a thing, just natural evolution, Sinister Gone Wild (don't forget the censor bar), etc.

RE: No Man's Sky Thread
Looks like one of the early moons I found is filled with large gold deposits and I wasn't bothered by any sentinels while I farmed over 200k units last night. I think I've found a good early mining venture to get those units up.
A friend tipped me off to those grenades you can unlock for your multi-tool, and carving out a little diagonal tunnel can be very nice for recovering from the elements in a pinch instead of having to run back to your ship or find an actual cave system every time.

@wolfs
Volund's Code won't have any of their subsystems. It'll have all of Volund's MU* basics, but stuff like their scrounging, combat, etc. would not go with it.I don't know what all comes with Volund's code, but the main thing I like about it is the +scene coding and integration into a web-based log display without people having to do anything special for something to show up. It's really, really convenient.

RE: X-Men Game
Honestly, if the idea of the place is to be mutant-centric, I wouldn't even have characters like Spider-Man or the Fantastic Four playable. Keep them as NPCs handled by staff or, if it ends up allowed, capable of being emitted by trusted players when needed (and documented for the sake of consistency).
Once you start straying from mutants into other territory, the creep just starts to grow.

RE: Transfer of MSB tonight: 7:30 EST
@arkandel Yeah, I'd posted a multi-paragraph thing in one of the United Heroes threads that I saw, tried to edit to change "Dank" to "Dani" before anyone caught it and laughed, and I couldn't get through for around an hour or so. The comment had also disappeared, so imagine how thankful I was to have had the foresight to copy it all to my tablet first.
(Yes, I work nights.)

RE: Mutant Genesis (X-Men)
I dunno. I tried the place for a couple months after it opened, and while I had some good RP I also felt like I was on the outside looking in. Part of this was my schedule being hard to RP around because events often took place later in the week right when I was getting ready for work, but I also definitely felt like I wasn't part of the "in" crowd.
I also spent a lot of time off the team channels because one of the players there tended to dominate whatever discussion was going on and he'd frequently spam the channels with one-line train-of-thought stuff that scrolled the screen very quickly. The one time I saw where anyone asked him to chill with that, he basically said "Nope." So, avoiding the channels (and the lounge, no doubt) probably kept me further out of the loop.
The Brotherhood also appeared to be set up as a group that was meant to be a viable alternative to the X-Men in public, sort of straddling the fence in a gray area while not being purely good or bad, but some of the RP to me looked like it was dominated by kill-happy characters doing things that should have got the group a lot more negative press and trouble. If I'd had more time and more of a chance to get further involved with things I would have liked to ICly question some of what others were doing, but by the time I'd discussed it with one or two players the channel spamming thing had happened, staff took the guy's side when a complaint was raised, basically saying he wasn't doing anything wrong, and I decided it was time to move on.
I'm sure there are some good people and good players there, but things didn't work out for me.

RE: Character Information: Wiki or Mu*?
On a Wiki only? No. As something that can accompany what's in-game? Absolutely.
I find it convenient to have character info viewable in a Wiki format, but it's not a necessity. If a place can code something up - and it's been done - where all you need is an account and a command you can run to copy/paste everything in, it's really simple without a need to figure out the basics of Wiki coding.
But, don't force people into using just a Wiki to find anything out. I like to use them when they're available, though. If there's a log system set up that connects with character pages, all the better.
I don't really care for setups that just point people to a web link every time in newsfiles, either.

RE: General Video Game Thread
When I PC game, I use an XB1 controller I bought specifically to plug in for it. I own a PS4, and that controller obviously works just fine for their remote sharing function.
I know mouse/keyboard gives you better control, especially when aiming with the mouse, but I've just never been very good at using the keyboard for movement and actions. I'll take the controller when I have the choice.

RE: Crediting code, systems, etc.
It's good to give some kind of credit in an easy to see place if you use or even modify someone else's code. It's as simple as "Code by X" or "Modified from Code by X," and it might even be worth a brief summary of what was modified and what was left alone if you really want to be open about it.
Even if it's code someone wrote and has made entirely public, give a shout out to that person so people know where to go if they want to use it as well.
If someone asks you to credit them, you credit them. Period.
If you take the code and try to pass it off as your own, you are a scumbag and will probably be found out by someone and scolded/shunned/whatever.

Add me to the "general fan of Exiles" list. I liked what they did with AoA Blink and Nocturne overall, yep.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@thatguythere I guess, I mainly don't get what the point is of trying to deny that you're a part of the place as more than just some outsider - and that's an example you tried to make yourself. It really isn't even up for debate that there is a community feel for a lot of people here, and it exists whether you're willing to accept it or not.
You may choose to stay more on the periphery and just argue and debate or whatever, while coming to know a few things about some of the people you interact with, but it's pretty clear to me there are people here who are friends whether it's just here, via games, IRL in some cases, and so on.

@auspice Fair point, though that was "stop trying to PM me to manipulate and lie to me." That probably also should have been kept private.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@mietze Re: mods being able to speak here as mods? No kidding.
Look, if someone's going to get to wear the mod hat, they get to choose when they speak as one. Taking it, in this case, to be any more than a more official "MSB does not condone this kind of shit" kind of message is paranoia and, to me, an attempt to assign a more threatening tone to it than what exists.
MSB mods, clearly, do not support efforts to go troll a game, nor even the potential of anyone here trying to organize such a thing. We can agree that's fine and reasonable, can't we? What is the issue with using MOD VOICE to make that extra clear when it needs to be?
Taking this a step further, would MSB ban anyone here for trying to go through with stirring up shit on a game they have a problem with? How about we don't get to the point of needing to find out? If you have issues with a place, lay them out here for people to read and leave it at that.
MSB has a sort of strange dichotomy between the Hog Pit and just about every other part of the site in that the Hog Pit is the free-for-all place where the shit gets flung while everywhere else is intended to be more presentable. The Hog Pit is the dirty back alley, the dark basement, the creepy uncle nobody wants to talk to at the family gathering, whatever descriptor you want to use for it, but it serves an important and valuable purpose for bringing attention to the shittier side of MU*ing. It helps people be more informed about the bad stuff that happens on some places, whether it's because of players, staffers, or both, and it often works as a way of making sure people know what they may be getting into on a place, good or bad. Yes, sometimes piling on happens. That's human nature.
That doesn't mean it's okay to conspire to troll a place you don't like, and it doesn't mean it's bad for someone with the mod hat to remind people of that.

RE: Regarding administration on MSB
@bored Problematic to you, maybe, because you seem to be putting any stock in the idea that Auspice saying what she did, the way she did, equates to 'MSB admins have to keep their braying hyenas of a community in check' and/or 'MSB admins are posting transparent spin to hide how shitty their posters are.'
Ultimately, what Auspice and Ganymede do here is up to what Arkandel asks of them. Moving some threads is fine with me if they veer toward Hog Pit territory. However, I don't have an issue with any of them putting on the mod hat to remind people not to go fuck with a place whether it was being discussed openly or if someone went to one of them privately with a concern. When in doubt, by all means, err on the side of reminding people that it's not okay to do that here.
Some of this reads more like people who have a personal problem with Auspice just looking for an excuse to gripe, or some people just being against any form of visible moderation whatsoever. If that's the case, maybe find something more worth complaining about next time. This isn't it.
