If I had to wear a name tag at a workplace so people would be encouraged to use my first name, I would actually go through the legal hassles of getting my name changed to something REALLY FUCKING OFFENSIVE (like DickyMcDickFace, all one word) just so that nobody would use it.

Does that include all three aspects of his personality or only the one he called Sandor?

Actually, strangers calling me by my name, especially my first name, are the opposite of polite to me. I find that off-putting and tend to get brusquer with them.

I know that Google Wave, when it was still up, was used for roleplaying because it was like a combination of wiki, collaborative writing, and chat. I really wish they would bring that back.

Were it not for the long-standing policy I have of never, ever, in a million fucking years, aiding and abetting a *channer in anything I could point you to where a Wave-like site run.

Sadly this policy interferes because I don't like helping sociopaths along.

@Olsson How wonderfully quaint your old technology! I will be having an opportunity to turn the dial back twenty years myself when I go back to Canada this summer.

    • RE: Web-Based Ticketing Software

I can't speak for @Thenomain, but I can speak for my own experiences.

The process of installing and getting Evennia to run was more painful (by FAR) than getting PennMUSH or RhostMUSH to compile and run. (TinyMUX, on the other hand, I never actually got compiling at all.)

Once running, knowing where to go next was even worse-documented than it is for MUSHes (and I'm on the record for despising MUSHes, their opaque scripting language, and their utter lack of properly useful documentation).

I'd love to see something sane take the place of MUSH code bases. Evennia, as it stands now (and given conversations I've had with its creators likely as it will ever stand) is not that "something sane". It has its uses and its enthusiasts. Replacing the MUSH ecosystem is not one of those uses.

"Zhang" in this context is just a surname without any particular meaning. In other contexts it can be used to mean "nervous" or "open" or even "string".

After working with a young woman in two different capacities for over two years, I find out today that her Chinese name is the single most Chinese name that is even remotely conceivable: 张梦蝶 (Zhang Mengdie). Literally her name is Zhang Dream Butterfly.

Seriously, this is the kind of shit that makes me love living in this place.
