What about Cinematic Unisystem for a system. Magic from like Witchcraft and Armageddon is pretty wide open in some areas.

RE: Why no Star Trek games?
I think a lot has to do with the Military style setting more.than anything. I think the game would need to be like DS9 to allow for the most wide range of PC concepts to make it work.

The claiming of sleeping beauty. That would be an interesting setting.

Away
For anyone who knows me, I am stepping away from the hobby while I heal. I woke up this afternoon to find my Husband of 11 years finally lost his battle with addiction in the form of an overdose. For those who know my characters just expect them to be afk for a while.

RE: Good TV
@Jynxbox I agree, and for me the poor production values of the musical numbers is part of the charm. The way I see it is, that she is interpreting their heart songs, and because she's a crappy dancer, she doesn't know any better, so everyone is a crappy dancer. This for me is part of the charm. I personally love the show, everything about it.

RE: Good TV
Ugh, the more I watch Motherland: Fort Salem the more I wish it was a viable universe to rp in, but I don't see how it would work. I'm sure system mechanics could be found, but I don't think there would be so many people interested in the theme.
I think the only way this theme would work is if the PCs were either Spree or the Spree won and they were fighting back against odds.

RE: Replacing Hardcoded +Help with Softcoded +Help on RhostMUSH
@Obie In the netrhost.cnf make sure you disable the +help commands. It is far down but if you look you will see it.

So I finally got a call from IT. I am now able to set up to work from home. I have a Zoom conference at 2, and they have some mystery project they want me to work on.
I am not putting on work clothes for this. They can live with my Star Wars "Rebel Scum" t-shirt and my Quarantine hair, don't care ponytail.
Especially since I'm not on the clock for today
Use the Enterprise Bridge Background or something else wildly inappropriate

To follow up with that, most management meds, the manufacturers have discount programs and/or free programs for some patients. It might be worth reaching out to them? -
RE: The Work Thread
So I get to "Work" as we are all working remotely and our chats are filled with general vitriol about being laid off. A few of us are planning on taking our equipment back, but due to gathering rules we are trying to stagger them. It's very surreal to see 60 people going through the stages of grief remotely. Some are panicking, as they are older people and they are concerned about life after Covid19.

I am off my meds until these stimulus checks come in because meds without insurance are just way too expensive.
I've been most worried about my depression hitting me hard.
What I didn't expect was the generalized anxiety.I've been going into anxiety attacks suddenly and without warning since last night. I don't know why I'm anxious (I mean there are REASONS to be but I can't identify which it is so I can work through it). I just am.
Well the good news is that they will be in the majority of people's accounts by Wednesday if everything goes according to the plans I've read online.

@Cupcake I like it. It's not perfect, but it has a few interesting things going on. I'm excited to see where it goes.

RE: Good TV
Finally watched this week's Zoey and homg. Fight Song in ASL.
Excuse me, there's onions all up in here.
OMG yes. I took me a minute to figure out the melody, but once I did.. There were LOTS of onions around. It was an epic scene.

RE: The Work Thread
@Admiral Thanks. I am lucky that I have a safety net, Some of the people do not have that, and most are my friends. So I worry about them. Luckily paperwork and craziness is part of my skill set, so I've offered to help those with little knowledge navigate getting the Unemployment benefits. One phone call and 70 people from billing, training, implementation, development and regulatory are all unemployed as of the 10th. I choose to look at it with a Silver Lining. My Partner's mother is very ill, so I can relocate my family to be closer to his family so he can spend as much time as he can with her. So there is that! Otherwise, BOO COVID19 and the Government response as a whole to the situation.

RE: The Work Thread
Thank you Covid. Due to the sharp drop in active clients, my company has decided to close one entire office. The lay offs were announced today and we have till Friday. So fun.

Real world reminder and peeve:
Please stop calling COVID-19 "the Chinese virus."
It's not Chinese. It is no more Chinese than MAGA hats or iPhones. We don't call the 1918 Spanish Flu "the American flu" because the first reported case was from Kansas. We adopted a more neutral way of identifying these viruses long ago (with MERS being an exception, I guess, but people are going to hate on Muslims no matter what it seems).
But, Gany, what about the Zika and Ebola viruses?
The zika virus was first identified in 1947,and is alternately identified by virologists as ZIKV. Like the Spanish flu, the Asian flu, and the Hong Kong flu, this virus was identified back when the place of origin (or, in the case of the Spanish flu, no fucking good reason) was important to virologists. In the case of ZIKV, it was named after the Ziika forest in Uganda.
The Ebola virus is alternately identified as EBOV, and was originally thought to be a new strain of the Marburg virus in 1976. It was allegedly named after the Ebola river in the DRC. The Marburg virus was originally discovered in 1967 around the German city with the same name, but we don't call it "the German virus."
The difference is that few people identify as "Ebolan" or "Ziikan." The term "Chinese" refers to a visible minority in Western nations that have a history of being oppressed by the white majority. So, if you want to be an ally -- who doesn't? -- just call the virus "COVID-19" or "COVID". Because for a layperson the origin of a virus doesn't help in protecting against or treating it.
So what you're saying is... "The Chinese Flu"?

Eclipse Phase would probably be a better fit for the setting (Altered Carbon)

She's not even trying to break the game. She's a non-gamer that hasn't had exposure to how these games work before. She's the embodiment of the Gordian Knot solution; such a simple and obvious answer, you wonder why nobody's never tried it before.
Weapon dissolved? I EAT THE POISON DRAGON
I got a skill from doing this? I wonder if I do the same thing to another monster, I get a different skill?
I can't run, but I have a ranged intercept move I can useIt's not her fault that the game devs put in all this outrageous, stackable skills and abilities contingent on a player doing something no veteran game player would ever think of doing.
Oh I get that, that's what makes it funny. Like falling asleep and getting nibbled on by low powered monsters makes her defense raise higher. That's kind of the charm of it for me. She is just playing from a logical non-player stance. Where as any gamer, like Sally, knows how to focus and balance, Maple... yeah she doesn't. And Syrup doesn't help either.

@Runescryer
Bofuri is easily one of the best anime that had come out with the most recent season. They did a great job with it.I completely agree. This anime has me laughing at how ridiculous Maple is. It reminds me a lot of Bleach and Dragon Ball, in the sense that... Oh. You can do that. Well I can do this.. The power creep of Maple is insane. She gave up on being human for sure
