      I love Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist.

My only complaint is I wish I hadn't started watching right away because the wait each week sucks. It's such a happy, lovely, upbeat show and I love Mo (the 'in on the secret' friend who is genderfluid) and I love Zoey's mom. And I love Lauren Graham.

But the last two weeks have both had stopping points that have me SO FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I WANT MORE.

I got hooked on this show yesterday, I binged the entire thing. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Did the most recent episode make you cry?

      ***=because holy shit***

the song with her dad had me in goddamn tears.

OMG. The last two episodes were heart song worthy for me. But the song with her dad.. Yeah. It hit home. I lost my dad last year and his first birthday is coming up in June. So yeah...

My husband and oldest son both looked at me and said "OMG, you're to gay to survive." Then they both started laughing at me.

My day job easily transitions to work from home, but the tutoring students aren't coming because no one knows what's going on. And for some reason social media / my community has forgotten entirely about the people who provide your kids extra-curricular activities in the whole "support small businesses!" push.

Y'all, I'm a small business. But the amount of fucking ELBOW GREASE it takes me to get paid fairly is insane.

I wonder if this would fall under the "Gig" jobs, like Uber and such? Might be worth looking into to see if you can qualify for the unemployment bennies.

I'm closing my GoFundMe. A friend just pointed me to a friend of his who was offering to help people and she sent me everything else I need.

I'm.... in shock, tbh. Like, completely. I've literally been praying daily (and am not religious) for a way to figure this out. To be able to pay bills, feed myself, feed my cats, etc..

So, help is out there. It may not be easy to find (and you may have to swallow anxiety, fear, pride, etc. to talk to people), but it's there.

Glad to hear it. Some help is on the way though, Unemployment benefits get a massive increase once it gets signed into law, plus a stimulus check. So keep hope alive.

Hey, let's take an interesting AU premise (magic is real and the Salem Witches fought back and won...) and turn the interesting premise into Christian Fundamental Theocracy with Sprinkles (Magic)!

I noped out of there in 5 minutes once they tried passing off Christian Faith Healing as Witchcraft.

To be fair, that was kind of "ick", however, later in the episode they explained what magic was and how it worked.

      click to show

It is really about the sound of their voice and the notes that they are using. So anything could be used to cause magic to happen. That particular witch used her Christian Faith as her focal point for her magic.

      Act I, Scene I

      Patient: Oh! You have twins?
      Partner: Yes. (shows pictures)
Patient: (stares at pictures for a few seconds)
      Partner: They are bi-racial.
      Patient: Oh.
      Partner: My partner is Chinese.
      Patient: Chinese?
      Partner: Yes.
Patient: (pause) Are you taking any special precautions?
      Partner: What do you mean?
Patient: I mean, you could just move out for a while so that they can be together and not have to worry about getting sick.

(End scene as Partner chokes Patient with stethoscope.)

      Act I, Scene II

Partner: So, let me get the test results —
Patient 1: What do you think of the coronavirus?
Partner: Well, I think it is something we should all be aware of and take steps to —
Patient 2: You know, I don’t know what the deal is.
      Patient 1: Yes, I agree.
Patient 2: I mean, if it’s from China, we should just round them up and put them in internment camps.
Partner: (stunned silence) I’m sorry, internment camps?
      Patient 2: Yup.
Partner: Like what we did to the Japanese in World War 2?
      Patient 2: Mm-hmm.
Partner: That is the most racist thing I have ever heard.
      Patient 1: Really?
Patient 2: Well, if it works —

(End scene as Partner shoots both patients in the face.)

Aside from the endings, these events actually happened to my partner over the past three work days.

Sadly, today alone i have talked to two doctor offices that are actively refusing to provide services to Asian Patients, by saying there are no open appointments, simply due to the fact that their other patients are uncomfortable with them being in the office at the same time.

I swear... Situations like these, bring the stupid out in people in gloriously horrible ways.

They are, but I suspect late fees are still a thing.

And having had to pay late fees before due to an online payment system fucking up, you can find yourself with nearly $200 worth in just a week. I won't get paid again for 2 weeks.

@RightMeow thank you, I didn't notice I grabbed my link vs the public one. D'oh.

To be frank that's kind of shitty. They will stop you from getting kicked out but will still let you incur additional fees during this time. I really hope the Senate gets their heads out of their asses and gets the checks out to those whom truly need them.

Guess I'm just terrible at financial security.

No that is kind of what it is there for when you get in those situations. The fact you had it shows you aren't. I am far from perfect when it comes to managing money, but I have habits that were instilled in me long ago, whioch have served me well.

@Sunny If you are referring to the fact we have no immunity for it, well that's always my case. The flu has been around long enough, and yet somehow it has managed to kill more people than this new big bad. The flu virus at its height kills around 1.7k people a day. To date, the coronavirus has only killed 7.9k people. The flu did that damage in about 4 days.

Sure it is new, but the numbers simply say it is is not as bad as the flu, at this point. Can that change, sure. It could cause everyone that gets infected to mutate and become carries of the Zombie Apocalypse, or gestalt into a new breed of human beings with super human abilities. Anything is possible, although unlikely. I just look at the numbers, and until the corona virus starts knocking nearly 2k people a day off.. I'm going to say at this point, only marginally.

The emergency management information I have been receiving from the federal government as part of managing this disaster disagrees with you. There is neither scare tactics nor scare media involved in this part of what is going on, and I assure you it is not just marginally worse than the flu. I suggest that you start paying attention to what's coming out of the CDC and comply with your local government's recommendations, rather than blowing it off as hype.

Like this? or This? or Maybe this?

I get it. It's new. It's scary. I am not saying it isn't a big bad, but from everything I have read, unless you actually test for it, most of the non-high risk people wouldn't really tell it was any different than the flu.

For the record, I am in the high risk patient zone. I don't take any risks with the flu or anything. I shift to a work from home scenario and and due to my allergen to the vaccine, I stay in a hotel for 2 weeks after my family gets vaccinated, to be safe.

      ?????

      Yes. Marginally.
      Covid-19

      • Caused by one virus.
      • Transmission is essentially the same, though we are still waiting on full confirmation of the ways that it can be transmitted, including the length of time viable in the air.
      • We are currently testing the antiviral medicines to see what effect, if any they have.
      • There is no vaccine, though we are working on it now.
      • Around 207k cases world wide, with 7.3k in the US
      • Around 8k deaths world wide, 115 in the US.

      The Flu

      • Caused by any of several different types and strains of the virus.
      • Transmission is well documented.
      • Antiviral medicines can address the symptoms and shorten the duration of the illness.
      • There is a vaccine available.
      • Estimated over 1 billion infected world wide, and between 9.3m to 45m in the US alone, per year.
      • Between 291k to 646k deaths world wide, with 12k to 61k in the us.

While the virus still has a LOT of unknowns, what we know right now, it is marginally worse than the flu, but not nearly as lethal. I will stand by my previous statement. Scare Tactics and Scare Media make things a LOT worse than they are.

@Jeshin I will be the first to admit, that I do not know what I am doing. However, I have learned enough from my 20 years of playing with my 401k to set what I feel I am comfortable with. I get there is market volatility, it just irked me that over something that is just marginally worse than the flu has caused such a significant impact. I would agree now, if you don't know what you are doing would be a bad time to start, but my 401k doesn't allow me to liquidate it as long as I'm employed with my employer, and I'm not getting fired anytime soon, given the recent promotion and raise, but you never really know. I follow the strict budgeting plan that I was taught early on. 20% of each paycheck goes into savings every payday. 15% of pre-tax into 401k. 2% of pre-tax into Health Spending Account, the the rest to pay bills and goof off with. There is a lot of stuff that I will be all willy nilly about but finances is not one. This policy saved my ass when I was in the hospital and out of work for over 3 years recovering from cancer the last time.

      Oh, wait.

Could it be because the package has not yet passed, is being held up by Kentucky, and likely will not solve the underlying issues of the pandemic?

      Yeah.

I am aware of it, but it really hit me hard. I've been doing my 401k since I was 22. So a -28% drop was quite a chunk of money, we are talking high six figures. I'm just really grumpy about it. That's all.
