Uh.... so this is interesting. This is my game (renamed to Umbral Shards). I will say this, though, that the Risk file was one of the first I put up out of notes and such... and then had several conversations on here about the very same thing. Given the vehement opposition in conversation, I might likely go back and either rewrite it, or just scrap the idea because, well, subsequent conversations right here.

With that said, I haven't had time due to work to do anything but code on the place.

Yeah, I know what you meant, frat-boy.There was a game, Metro perhaps, which had a specific category for "Victim RP" where you could pull out an NPC just to be messed with and, well, victimized. It makes my skin crawl, but I can't deny that it was quite popular.

Oh, Hah, I guess maybe it was thought off. I have always been a bigger fan of the d6 system. I'll take a look to see what is out there. I was just surprised that I had never seen a 'prefab' place existing - or someone willing to build it for a fee. Thanks for the tips!

I think it'd be nice to just set up an old school encounters chart for Hunt rolls. If you succeed you get your blood.

If you fail, you roll a couple dice and refer to a chart. Something like....

2-3 - Attacked by Hunters.
3-6 - Something less bad than Hunters
7-12 - Nothing happens.
8-whatever - etcetera

It's not a hard fix for scarcity but it does make the actual hunting a bit more entertaining rather than just 'you roll dice and get blood and if you fail you roll again. And you still get blood.'

True to the base theme, yep. Situations where no matter what players do, they cannot change a course of events, never never never, in spite of the fact that the characters are creatures that could, conceivably, change events, that's not cool.

eg, I am running something set in San Francisco in 1906. The PCs cannot stop the earthquake from happening, because they are humans with the powers of humans in 1906 and it's just an earthquake, they can't even predict it. Okay. Same setting, but now I say that the earthquake is caused by the Eldrich Powers the PCs are fighting. They are superheroes, and can fight Eldrich Powers. I can set them up so that really, stopping the EPs is beyond them, but it is not okay for me to say hard-stop never-never-never.

@Rook There are ways to advance characters without giving XP in particular. For example STs can be offered in-game benefits (gain the Prince's favor, a spot on the Primogen council, be deputized by the Sheriff), be offered tokens for game functions (instead of receiving 50% of your XP when your PC dies for next character get reimbursed of X% instead), etc.

But any social perks are very hard to regulate because it's so easy to discriminate despite the best of intentions ('PrP of the Week' always seems to go to staff's friends, because that's whose PrPs staff usually see in the first place) and because it takes so much work.

Handing a ST a Beat for a 3-hour long scene is easy; reading that 3-hour long's scene to determine its worth then coming up with a unique way to say thanks is a bitch of a task over time.
