I want to point something out here, just briefly.
I find myself agreeing with @Tempest here.
On a general part of me living my life, I'm not sure I'd be okay with agreeing with @Tempest if she said it was day or night. If she said there were two colors in chess I'd go out of my way to find an example where black was red. I don't know that I've ever played with her on any game, but I disagree pretty hard on almost anything she says. I think she trolls aggressively and tries to spark drama for its own sake.
And yet I find myself agreeing with her here.
The current methods and ways of mods is deeply flawed and counterproductive. Mods are abusing 'mod voice' (that very idea is absurd: that you think you can participate in a board that has something like a hog pit, and moderate something moderately constructive, is astonishingly naive), there's no clarity of what's right or wrong anywhere, and the general atmosphere of the place as a safe-to-bitch-fest and also safe-to-chat-fest, is harmed.
Yes, there was issues in the previous mod rules on Advertisement threads in particular and where they fit, and how they should be treated. But we're not in a better place now.
Advice: Make mod accounts. Completely separate your voice from Mod Voice. Do not allow casual comments to be felt to have the power of mod behind them. Split threads early, clearly declaring why. Resist the urge to be the censor: there should be clear standards of behavior but otherwise, the biggest concern is IMHO your PERSONAL opinion of what is right being what you decide is acceptable discourse.
The problem with personal opinions is I don't like, as I mentioned, @Tempest. Though I'm agreeing with her here. If I were through some magical impossible world made mod, how could Tempest ever trust me and my modding of her?
Thus, at the very least, separate mod and user voices. Not by bolding up Mod Voice in the middle of a post-- especially since we've already seen that used questionably.

I haven't run the metrics here, but isn't it equally likely that the activity that would have been in the Hog Pit or elsewhere has instead been directed at the Administration on MSB thread?
Plus, that would be ignoring the thread on Elsa's misbehaviors, the fun stuff about United Heroes, the posts here, on The 8th Sea.
There's only so much time in the day.

@quinn I know I stopped logging in because this dude who I assume was also staff kept paging me with "snugs" and it made me seriously uncomfortable. Like, I was friendly to this guy, but I didn't know him from Adam. Don't snug me unless we have a rapport.

@tek I fucking /hate/ that. One a super hero game I've played on since before the turn of the millennium there is this one staffer who :snugs constantly, and openly, in pages, on channels, and I am like: Don't do that.
I've said it multiple times, and they KEEP FUCKING DOING IT.
An interesting side note, is they haven't been around in a while... maybe it was the same guy.

@lithium Like, I will "snug" people that I am actually friends with, but it is suuuuuper stranger to get snugged by someone who you barely know who is also in a position of power on the game. No bueno.

I find it aggravating but manageable when people do it when they barely know you, but continuing to do it when someone tells you repeatedly not to is SO SUPER CREEPY.

@roz There's one case I just sorta mentally edit forgiveness for this into, which are those very genuinely sweet fluffy people (there aren't a ton of them in the hobby but there are a few) who are just like that by default with everyone. Like... I know it's not that they're trying to be creepy, and they aren't trying to disrespect my wishes in any way, and they have zero skeevy intent whatsoever, but it's such a default setting in their brain to either call everyone under the sun 'hon' or snug or hug or bounce or squeak or whatever else in a deeply ingrained way, and it's just something they don't even think about.
I don't like it, and it annoys me, but I know in those cases at least it's just who they are and it becomes a lot easier to live with.

@surreality Maybe I'm just mean, and maybe it's just words on a screen, but even if people are sweet and fluffy I still expect them to respect my wishes about not typing things at me that make me actively uncomfortable. I certainly react differently than if I thought someone was doing it on purpose, but I will still continue to ask them not to do it until they stop doing it.

@roz I more just expect they forget every damn time unless there's one of those long talks about it (that usually isn't worth the time if it's someone you only encounter casually once in a blue moon, with the uncomfortable side effect of feeling like puppy kicking), since usually it's one of those things that's default with them.
I'll still say something, but it's sort of like that relative nearly everybody has who is 'the hugger'. (I always tell that aunt, too, but... wow, is she ever a hugger.
I think she has plastic man arms, for real; she once managed to hug me around a tray of champagne glasses I was pointedly holding in front of me. I mean howwwwwwww was that a thing?!) -
That's unfortunate, but not unexpected. They had a solid concept (Stranger Things focused on the older kids) and code, and the RP quality was good, but they were frustratingly controlling over a lot of aspects of the game and characters. There was a LOT of arbitrary rules, like 'no tattoos' as an example, even though I see teens with tattoos more and more. That's just the one that jumps to mind. The other problem was that plots were limited to a certain number of players, and the most active player on the game involved in everything wouldn't RP with more than 4 people at a time, which further limited scenes. There also was never a lot of direction for stories outside those limited plots.
Anyway, sorry to see it go even if I hadn't played in a while, but yeah. Not surprised.

If there was a no tattoos rule I broke it thoroughly. Not only did Tommy have a half dozen tattoos, I once actually had a scene revolving around him getting a really awful one and having to be talked out of it. And Tommy wasn't shy about showing them, either, since he was a completely obnoxious dipshit.

I assume you're talking about Griffin. The only plot I was ever in was a total clusterfuck that got me and two other people talked to...but not about how the plot was bad, about how Griffin's feelings were hurt because someone told some people that he had all the plots? Or something. I never actually understood what I was being accused of. Though he did! So, good on you, whoever also noticed that. I mean, the plots being run were actually listed on the front page of the wiki and he was in every single one so it's not like it was a secret!
The only thing I was guilty of was trying to sustain RP on a place that was pretty clearly dead on arrival.

@quinn Yeah. He was the leader in +votes or whatever for a good while because he RPed a lot, just with a couple people at a time. And yes, as his SO ran the plots, he was generally the focus of everything. And I'm not surprised that you got talked to about pointing that out. His SO was very protective of him and his various quirks.

I don't think I ever did point it out! Which is why it was so weird. I was mad because in the one plot I was in, someone showed up halfway through, didn't need to roll fear (half of us had failed it and spent the whole time unable to do anything but pose being scared--and no one pointed out we could've spent a karma to reroll it!), and of course, was the hero of the night.
I was Clara. And I was creeping up on Griffin's votes, which a couple of people jokingly told me was why they thought the game was shutting down.
