MU Things I Love

MU things I love include @Roz's characters without a shirt. Not actually relevant to what she just said. I'm just helping.

So I'm really, really happy, because my character has a crush on someone, and he rejected her. Gently but firmly, and they're still friends, and we roleplay, and everything's cool. The reason I am happy about this is kind of hard to explain, but I'm going to try.
So having a character in love is great, but if you're someone who has a lot of romantic failure in rl, it's hard not to become extremely dismayed when the romantic life of your characters doesn't go well or doesn't work out the way you want it to. It can lead to Bad Behavior <tm> and general "that bitch is such a moper/has a bad attitude" airs that no one wants to put out there but can't help doing. That used to me. To some extent, that still is me, but when it used to be 11, now it's down to maybe a 3.
If you look under the definition of 'Unrequited' in the dictionary, one of the options is "Cupcake's entire love life". So when art imitated life, compounded with mental health that was also in an unknowing bad state, well...
Speed up to today. Not only was I okay with it, I was marveling at the fact that I was okay with it. And maybe I won't always be okay with it all the time, but I looked at this as a banner moment and evidence that I'm getting past things that have really ground me down in the past in my roleplay and the mush community. So, go me!

@Cupcake I've actually been having kind of a similar experience. There were times when I was younger when I'd get a lot more upset if I got invested in a ship -- or the idea of a ship -- and it didn't work out. (I mean, there were times when I was just too invested in RP in general, like years ago when I was unemployed for extended periods of time and dropped too much emotional energy into the hobby instead.) Another part of the issue was just communication. Now I'm playing an unrequited love knowing that the most likely outcome is that it remains unrequited forever, but the friendship is still really great and interesting. I talked to the player earlyish when things were developing to check what pages we were both on, we're both happy and cool with everything and feel comfortable, and it's really nice. COMMUNICATION.

@Auspice Yeah, playing with Faraday's awesome FS3.3 has me drooling over how useful it would be for a fantasy game of any sort. It's still got the Built-for-ranged-combat-more-than-melee problem (so far as I know), but that's a feature, not a bug (just annoying for a fantasy game). But with better vehicles, mixed armor, the ability to target vehicle crew rather than just vehicles (I think that's planned if not in place)... mmm... fantasy game.

When incredibly awkward situations that should rightfully feel incredibly awkward, do.
When incredibly awkward situations that tend to result in some players foaming at the mouth and dragging their ass on the carpet, don't.
Combine these two things and you've had a great scene.

Clearing the air.

Finally getting a map together I'm happy with.

A kickass person (not me) found a PB for my latest character, when I've been struggling a great deal and frankly with RL exploding I've barely had time to pick my nose, much less look around for a PB!
-
Just -- the really good days. Like, I just had a lot of RP packed into one day yesterday with a lot of really exciting developments and I'm feeling pretty giddy and blessed right now.
-
When you find that handful of players and characters that you and yours click with, and you actually look forward to logging in in order to hang with them; how it reminds you of why you got into this hobby in the first place.
-
@hedgehog Upvoted because I would so kill for this these days.
-
@surreality Come play with me. Come play. >.>

On a new game, I began RPing with someone and got 'this person is cool and meshes well with my style' vibes off of them. They're quickly becoming one of my favorite people to RP with or even just hang out and OOCly shoot the shit.
I've been MU*ing for over 18 years and generally within the same general types of game, so meeting someone new is pretty rare. Even better when it's someone you jive with so well.
-
I too love this. Strangely, it's happened again recently.
-
I love that moment when you are like... hey this person is cool. They get me. I get them. It's easy, breezy, beautiful.
May I ask what cool game this is? I understand not wanting to share with the world too.
You too... what are the cool games people are playing and finding cool people at?
