Don't know where to put this exactly.
After a lot of concern about the reaction they would get, USA Kilts in Pennsylvania publicly stated its support for Pride Month. Hopefully, they will gain more than they lose. It has cost them a few customers, but they may gain others, and the value of self-respect, integrity, and supporting others cannot be overstated.

I don't endorse data exfiltration.
That being said, copying the PST file to a thumb drive is less likely to set off alarm bells than a massive amount of forwarded emails to yourself going through the mail server.
-
@solstice Well, they've already terminated me rather than give me the ADA accommodations temporarily.
-
Ah. Welp.
-
@macha very belatedly... I read this as though it was a human and was slightly puzzled. I hope your bestest boy is better.
-
@macha Do you have any recourse?
-
@jinshei They still want to do an ultrasound and a fine needle aspiration. But of course, right now? I'm unemployed, and can't afford the ER Vet's estimate of between 1,000 and 1,200 dollars.
@reimesu Well, they wrote my final written for having sugar crashes. Because I had three of them, while trying to adjust from the training schedule to the production schedule. I did not sign it, on advice from my diabetes' doctor, instead asking for a conference call between HR, the doc's office, and myself, and then I would sign it. They never followed through with that part, though I followed up with the request again a couple of times.
I do know they have WAY more than 50 employees, and it would have been a temporary accommodation of the level my neuro asked me to be forgiven for. Also, they were just bought out by a MUCH larger company a month ago. We'll see what the lawyers say.
-
@macha I'm crossing my fingers for you. And offering up some job karma, in case you need to find a new job, which it sounds like you should.

For the first time in my adult life, two companies are in a bidding war over my services. I feel like I've finally hit some sort of achievement where a company is going to fight to keep me in my position!

Hail to our conservative overlords, who have brought us back to the 50s.
-
@too-old-for-this Good! Get what you can for however long you can. Employer/employee loyalty only seems to go one way anymore.
-
Not doing well. No motivation, no energy, and depression like whoa. Not eating, not sleeping well, the pain is not terrible, but not great.
Oddly enough, I have not gotten a migraine to the point I can't see or I'm throwing up since they terminated me on Thursday.
-
@macha Is there a local charity for vet bills? Sometimes there are also pay over time schemes? I'm sure you thought of those but... (also only checking this board when I remember it exists, which is not often because brain overheated and tired - if more often required, hit me on discord)
-
@jinshei All the ones local I see require about 8 million hoops and do more reimbursement than help. The vet I have him scheduled to see apparently will work with you with payment plans, and I know if all else fails, my friend will let me use his care credit, so long as I pay it off.
I just didn't need all the bricks to fall on me at once.

Randomly surprised today. Fireworks are a hot button issue on Nextdoor. Every week someone posts complaining. Usually, I don't engage, but there has been a LOT and last night one went off at the same time as one of my fosters was having a hard time in the litter box. It made them and a sibling jump. The mess was bad enough I had to give this poor baby a bath.
So I posted that the fireworks were hard on my poor fosters. Someone posted a flippant reply. I waited a few hours and replied that I understood people want to celebrate but that I still felt empathy for my poor babies and that I felt their comment was heartless.
Thus the surprise!!!
They APOLOGIZED and wished my kittens well.
There is some small hope left guys.

I'm not sharing this information with my IRL yet (except my older sister, because I trust her to be zipped up about it), but my husband and I just submitted all the paperwork to start the process to become foster parents.
It's all the PRE paperwork, like background check authorizations, financial disclosures, documents that we understand we need to not be discriminatory (seriously, the number of times we signed "Yes, we won't discriminate against LGBTQ children/youth" is a sad sad commentary on how common it is that these kids ARE discriminated against...) etc.
I'm really nervous about it, especially since hubs and I haven't ever had kids of our own.
I just wanted to tell someone so I told y'all.
-
@silverfox I think that's amazing. I read a quote once about adoption and I thought it was a good summation:
"For our kids, we meet them with a compassion and understanding that gathers up all the broken pieces of their stories and holds them together in love."
Good luck to you both. It's a great and hard thing you're doing.
-
I hope the motherfuckers who were setting fireworks in my street and then left their shit on the street all night get the joy of watching everything they love burn and scream in a fiery blaze.
For a nation who claims to live their troops, most people in my part of the country are assholes to PTSD-suffering veterans.

@ganymede Some schadenfreude for you...

I keep getting started by being @atted in your post and then I go "Oh, that isn't about me, move on."
