VASpider is playing Gisa. As far as I'm aware she's not staff yet, nor does she have a position of IC authority. I am strongly hoping it remains that way.
-
@Tux I had my suspicions that VASpider = Gisa. This, of course, was not before made aware of VASpider playing on the game--but even then had a feeling. But In any case, as long as they don't play a position of IC authority, or staff things miiiiiigt be fine. Time will tell...¯_(ツ)_/¯

@Ganymede
The best proof I can offer is what I said in my previous post. This is a thing she had made for her character: http://fatesharvest.com/w/File:Gisa_chibi.png
In the comment it links to the tumblr of the artist: http://hauntpark.tumblr.com/post/156560937009/night-of-the-living-commissions-hello-im-arin
And one of the top first reblogs/likes/whatever you call it on tumblr is from VASpider.
Anyways, her character has influence in the Dawn court but has no real position (yet?) and isn't part of the staff. So, don't make a Dawn character and you can mostly avoid her.
-
Does the game have staff alt transparency?
-
I never disliked VASpider as a player, we only had very poor interaction in a staff capacity.
But I know other people's experiences vary wildly. I wouldn't personally mind playing with her again outside a position of power.
edit: Ironically some of my best Reach RP was with her.
-
Yes, all staffers should be listing who they play. Policies are here: http://fatesharvest.com/w/Policies#Staff
(I realize now that not all staffers actually have their alts listed in their +finger, so we'll make sure that gets done.)

I knew something rubbed me the wrong way about her. I sort of chalked it up to my being jaded and cranky, but there was just a bit too much of the 'this person is putting on way too much of a show of I AM EVERYONE'S BFF while also seeming ultra fake' from her.

She has a persecution complex that's easy for many gamers to initially relate to, until they realize that it is a product of her own repeated patterns of behavior.

I never knew her before Fallcoast (largely due to it being my first major nWoD game), but I've also always just sort of sat over there in my own little quiet bubble to begin with. I'll be polite, I'll chat, but the 'OMG YAY CONFETTI BFFS 5EVER' stuff just sets my teeth on edge.

I have not had a direct problem with her in years. Many years.
But I see the pattern.
It starts with activity; activity is good. Then it moves to indispensability; she is the center of plots, as a player or character. Then it moves to responsibility and authority; she becomes a part of staff, and contributes. Then it moves to protectionism; she takes steps to protect her own and her characters' interests. In between these times, there is the gossip, the insinuations, the chit-chatting, all of which seem innocuous but usually end up blacklisting or ostracizing players that would have the gumption to speak out against her.
By the time any staff asses up and knocks her out, their sphere has been gutted as good players have left or clinging players have departed with her.
I'm willing to agree that none of this intentional, but the pattern is there and demonstrable. Not once, not twice, but more than that. So, when she appears on games, I take the hint and duck out: if staff are willing to give her a pass on her past history, they aren't exercising great judgment.
-
Personally I think it's sad that this person isn't being given the opportunity to attempt roleplay with updated behavior.
I'm not a friend of hers, nor do I role play with her, but all patterns aside, there are people in this hobby far more deserving of scarlet letters on the loose who don't suffer the same degree of scrutiny.
I, for one, refuse to partake in this witch hunt behavior.
-
Rationally or irrationally I think most people have at least one or two people that are insta-NOPE people where they no longer feel ooc comfortable if they're there.
She is not one of mine. But as someone who has immediately vacated once I was aware that someone on my list was on a game, I can't really judge the folks that need to remove themselves either.
This is why when I was an active player I would rarely track people's alts (also I am crap for remembering alts in the first place). And if it was let slip or I became aware of their tells I would quietly exit. There are some people oocly that just kill my desire oocly to be part of the game. I am sure I'm on a list or two myself. It is what it is.
I do not like when people scream at staff and saying "it's them or me!" I think the person screaming that should be given the boot. You own your choice to stay or go, staff owns their choices about who is and isn't allowed to play.

Have you un-retired from mushing?
Because this comes off as proclaiming the higher moral ground in a race you have no horse in.

I played with her a few times. I just found she sort of set my teeth on edge and I had little interest in playing with her beyond social scenes and was avoiding the OOC Room if she was present (which was no skin off my back; OOC Room can be spammy).
Finding out she's Spider was sort of an 'Ah, well, that explains that.'

Stick to the topic and stop trying to bait.
I don't have to have a personal stake in a game to think its sad that someone is getting the hin treatment.
Now, if Spider is misbehaving? THE BOOT IN THE ASS. I just dislike that she gets all of this spewed hate while there are some definitely rapey/stalky types running free.
-
@Ghost She is a stalkey type, though.
Granted, there are rapey/stalkey types here who get a pass, but that doesn't change that she is stalkey and has not yet shown a change in behavior or made up for what she did.
-
It kind of grates on me, this type of argument. It's the same thing that's used in multitude of ways of, well we're not doing anything about /this/ thing, so should we be doing something about this other thing?
We shouldn't take refugees into our country until all of our vets have homes. Sexism is a lot worse in other countries and we're not doing anything about /that/. etc etc.
That's all I want to say.
I'll still love you until the next page though, @Ghost.

There's one reason why I will put Spider at the same level of alarm as those. She ruins spheres. HAS ruined spheres. Not once, not twice... EVERY. TIME. This is not something that MIGHT happen. It WILL happen. Its like inviting Custodius onto a game. You know what he's going to do. She every bit as OOCly emotionally manipulative and as much of a user as any of the 'rapey/stalky' types that you seem to think are more important. Only she will do it to you MULTIPLE TIMES. Because its never her fault, you see. She is a master at getting people to believe her, to forgive her. To give her 'just one more chance'... because really, it wasn't her fault. The 'rapey/stalky' types are pretty easy to spot. They get called out and suddenly nobody wants to be near them. But Spider is a cult of personality. She draws people in. And she keeps them coming back for more no matter how much abuse she's heaped on them. This woman has something like a 20 year history of doing exactly this, on every game she has ever played. There is no 'changing' or 'getting better' for her. 20 years have shown her that all she has to do is bide her time and people like you will open the door.

If and when Spider misbehaves, I'm sure she'll be removed with all prejudice, I assume.
It's hard to say "give her a chance" because she's burned so many chances, but if there's one thing I've learned, people are capable of immense levels of change. And that's speaking as someone who has also had chances, immense levels of change, and has been personally bent over and fucked by many of the things she's done.
So I'd say give her one chance, one opportunity, and if she fucks up, out she goes.
