@aria Maybe it's just hierarchical dichotomic thinking.

New peeve, which is I think a textbook definition of first world problems.
I just spent about (translates) $1,400 on various computer upgrading and Vive buying so that I can get room scale VR set up and working at maximum efficiency, I have a room set up for it, now I am stuck waiting on Amazon to deliver the various random connectors that I found mid process that I need to complete the setup.
No electronics stores nearby were selling DVI-D dual link splitter cables!

@auspice It works non-VR now.

SHIT. REALLY?!
Suck it, y'all. I'm done MU*ing. Gonna go be Federation.
-
@auspice Good news, it now works! The stupid news, it could have worked on day 1, I actually had all of the required ports on my graphics card but they were covered with protective rubber caps that looked like they were not supposed to come off. Now I have a bunch of DVI-D to HMDI converters, extensions and splitter cables.
Edit: So to add, holy shit, VR is crazy. The quality of the graphics is kind of not wonderful, it is lower resolution than a 1080p screen, but utterly butter smooth and amazingly immersive. I dipped into 'VR Chat' and it was as I suspected full of anime character avatars but just being in a 'room' with people, talking to them, walking around, etc, whilst actually in my spare bedroom? Pretty mind blowing.

I hate seeing appliance newbies being shit on. I've had my instant pot for a little over a year now, but I am a member of the company sponsored FB page because for awhile it was nice to get recipes and crowdsourced help with conversions, ect. Of late it has devolved into some poor excited new person asking for where should they start/admitting they're a little intimidated followed by immediately 30+ people jumping on them with OMG I'm so tired of reading a post like this every time, people are so stupid! Well...then don't be part of the company page, dummy! Join Instant Pot Experts Only or start a fb group for that, and leave the newbies alone.
Though I will bitchily say that seeing so many people post their plans about putting their PRIME RIB ROAST in a pressure cooker made me die a little inside, like I do when my mother orders a filet mignon well done.

That reboots/rehashes + diversity casting = the vast majority of the film industry in 2017+1. Come up with some new shit, and just so you know, pandering to progressives by filling your umpteenth overproduced reboot with womyn and non-whites just doesn't qualify.
-
I burnt my hand on my Instant Pot the first time I used it. Their booklet is... not... the most helpful. I totally needed videos. It took a couple uses / recipes before things 'clicked' for me.
The first thing I made came out good! But it was stressful and frustrating and led to a burn.

I have the Express Cooker, which is Crock Pot's version of the Instant Pot. Their booklet is equally useless, I had to go on the web to find any useful information. I've had it for 2 months and have used it only once. I'm still trying to work up the nerve to try the pressure cooker feature

You really shouldn't have stepped out of the Hog Pit. Also that's a record for racism and sexism in a two-line post.
Goodbye.

I really enjoyed 'Dunkirk' and 'Darkest Hour'. rehash?
And 'Blade Runner 2049' was close to awesome. reboot?
Curiously the audience for these movies was 90+% male, which shows they're still making movies for me. -
I still need to see Darkest Hour.
But oh got Blade Runner 2049 made me so happy.
So so so happy. -
I'll admit, probably my favorite movie this year was Murder on the Orient Express. Which... oh no, a reboot of a movie... from 1974. Based on a book from 1934, written by one of my favorite authors. Still a DAMN good movie.
-
@miss-demeanor I want to see that so bad, I hope it's still playing. I also want to see Jumanji cuz it looks /hilarious/.

That Netflix reboot of The Punisher into a TV series, which had a surprising number of women as directors or writers, was fantastic!
And it totally catered to the libtard snowflake in me, what with the gratuitous gun and bloody violence!
-
@lithium It was SO GOOD. They had to make a few changes to the Poirot character, but nothing immersion breaking and it actually works out BETTER in the end and is truer to the book Poirot than the '74 version.
-
+1 on Orient Express movie. I liked it a lot, as well.
-
It is almost noon and it is -5. Why is it so cold? This is crazy.
-
@derp I stuck my head outside to grab some things in my mailbox and I fell on my butt in ice snow. I hate this weather right now.
Thank god for natural padding.
