Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.

I am massively tired of having to explain to people what Zionism actually is as opposed to what people think it is, and I'm tired of having to defend it, especially when there are a lot of points where I personally agree with what some opponents are proposing.
I'm also tired of having to struggle with supporting Congressional leadership that I believe is doing great things for this country but shitting ignorance all over the other country near and dear to my heart...and then being called a kapo and a traitor for deciding that their domestic efforts weigh more importantly for me.
Basically, I'm a Tired Jew.

Dude - I know you were there when I told our mutual friend that he needs to stop sticking it in the crazy, and that girls who aren't a stick figure can be fun and maybe surprise him in bed.
This does not mean I have any interest in giving you a demonstration.

... how in the fuck does that happen?
Of all the things I mentioned, that's the one that confuses you? Really??

That reminds me of my plight.
Americans: That’s communist, socialist, or both!

I want to say more on this particular subject but I honestly don't trust it not to turn into a dumpster fire that would just be massively emotionally taxing for everyone involved (but I mainly care about me and other Jewish people having to deal with that tbqh), based on past, and recent experiences, so just have a gif instead and know I feel this. All of this.

It's the only one I have direct experience with.

PCUSA was the first major denomination to have gay marriage in the US. Not hard at all.

Those two things are totally not the same thing, at all.

shrug
The PCUSA pastor I know best is into punk gardening and bees.
-
@Rinel Please tell me that was to be punk, gardening, and bees. Otherwise I'll have to ask: What the hell is punk gardening? (I kid. Though I did think about Greg Gaffin gardening and singing to his plants)

Trying to make plans with a friend from work, just to sit and talk and be able to catch up while not also working. And they say they're going to show up and drop by. And then you get ghosted. I know it happens, and I'm cognizant of it, but it's like, c'mon man, we work together, just tell me you can't come by. Lie to me if you need to, but don't just say nothing. I was at my uncle's funeral all day today(which by the way, going to a funeral during Covid fucking sucks and I don't recommend it for anyone at all. Avoid that if you can), and it just wouldn't been nice to see someone.
That sucks and it does nothing to stop making me wonder if I can't keep friends.
On the other end of that, there are times I get tired of saying hi to friend friends first. It's akin to being that person who always asks for RP first and is never often to be the one asked. It almost always feels like it's me. Maybe that's a selfish thing to say and it likely doesn't happen as often as I think.
But I do think in what hoped would be an extended weekend of RP and seeing friends I don't often get to see has been more akin to being alone on the couch.
And yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself and I know it.

handwobble?
At least Stateside, "hippie church" can mean UU or Quaker-style informality, but it can also mean female ministers and LGBT acceptance. This might belong in the Politics board, but with Christian conservatism being the sociopolitical stronghold of "gender roles" and "family values," a gay rights church is pretty "hippie."
-
Sounds pretty hippy to me. The churches in my home county probably would have had actual protestors outside of that church 24/7.
-
Yeah I mean I think it's useful to say here that there are relative limitations to how "hippy" a church can be and stay within the bounds of Nicene Christianity (which the Unitarian Universalists and various sects of Quakers, laudable though they may be, do not).
-
@insomniac7809 I keep forgetting how weird the US is with religion.

I want to move to Phoenix.
I have a handful of friends there. I have family there. I realized it'd be better for me health wise when I was very near to going to the hospital during my bout with covid. I don't really have anyone here I could call on to, say, check on my cats while I'm in the hospital. Or to come help me out.Anyway. That's not the peeve.
The peeve is I wanted to start getting rough numbers so I could begin saving up once I have a job again. This move I want to hire movers. I'm on the second floor (I hired one person off task rabbit to help me move in here and it still laid me out for days) so I'd rather pay people to do that shit. Esp. since I'd want o make the drive in one day. It'd be much easier to load a car with the essentials and my two cats than.....a truck cab.
So I filled out a couple 'give me a quote' forms online and Jesus fuck these people won't leave me alone. Well. One company did once I explained hey I'm just getting rough numbers to plan. Which means they'll probably get my business. One guy tried to bully me into giving them money anyway. He and other companies are calling me multiple times a day. If I block their number, they just call from another one.
So pro tip: don't try getting a quote until you're good and ready. And then just pick a single company and use them. Even if it might be more expensive. Asking multiple companies for quotes to try to save money is fucking miserable.
-
@Auspice Threaten to plaster every social media you can find reference to them with negative comments and complaints if they don't leave you alone.
-
@Auspice -- I normally call the company directly (not fill their form) and say I have questions, etc. I don't give them my number.
So my slight peeve --
I put Curious George on repeat for my dog when I'm gone. However, I find myself quoting it. This is my peeve. I quote Curious George.
-
@RightMeow Please sir, quote Curious George at me. It would delight me to no end.
Edit: (i do not know why it is a Sir, i attempted to edit for a gender neutral tone, but in my head as the little orphan boy, I only kneww one term of respect yet,)
