The moment you're a little out of it, and post something very private, in the wrong discord server.
I caught it right away, but..hello rush of heart pounding anxiety
That's one way to wake up...nice shot of adrenaline there.

I mentioned we bought (or were buying a business) for a million. We bought it. 3 days shy of our first month of operations and I own 50 wheelchair accessible vans and we rent/transport with them.
Everything is going great. We've made 40kish and this isn't the busy time of the year (summers and t-day/santa day are).
Last night a tornado ripped the roof off our building where we have our main (two) offices. The roof landed on a bunch of our vans
The insurance claim may ruin us out of the gate we'll see we were already profitable and doing so very well. I left my executive six figure job of ten years less than thirty days ago to run this. This morning I'm sitting in my flooded office, and I just want to blow my brains out. I can't. I have three sons that love and depend on me. Well, they love me anyway.
After getting shot in Denver in June and the PTSD from that and this I just can't anymore. I've reached my limit of what I can cope with.
My house is collateral for the SBA loan. My parents house I own as well. I think I just fucked everyone I care about over.
-
@buttercup You did not fuck everyone over. Unless you are withholding some crucial detail here, there is no way you could have possibly known this would happen, and no one could fairly blame you for it.
Please do not hurt yourself over this. It is completely okay to feel despair in this moment, and you should be allowed to feel it for as long as you need to. Just please set your despair aside when it is no longer serving you.
I'm glad you posted this. Reaching out takes bravery.
-
@buttercup I confess that I don't know you. But this I do know. You didn't screw anyone over. You were doing everything right. You were kicking ass and taking names.
this is just a step back. It's a cha cha, not a permanent backwards move. Things will come together and work out fine.
I know this may sound cold to suggest (and I do not mean it to be), but maybe set up a gofundme or something similar, to help you get through the immediate rough patch? I know it's not something anyone wants to do, but it could help maybe ease some of the pressure off you, and let you breathe.

People who just occupy shared resources. Send a print job, go to the room where the printer is, find somebody's stacked a shitload of crap in front of and on top of it, so I need to clear shit from in front of it to get close enough to the printer to find that having an object on its output tray has jammed it, and then must clear the shit off the top of it so I can open it to unjam it, and then send the job again.

Dear my kid's school: I understand that "Comparing Argument Techniques in Two Speeches" is a valid lesson, but surely you could have found a better example than comparing Martin Luther King Jr's "American Dream" speech to George freaking Wallace's "Segregation Forever" address. "How does Wallace's speech effectively use rhetorical techniques?" "Why do you think MLK's speech is considered the winner in the eyes of history?" Seriously?
Some days I just want to homeschool. Sigh.

... is the best explanation we can hope for.

@il-volpe pretty sure Oglaf is always a +1

@misadventure This is a very useful image for social media:

I don't know where you live, but this is a "find someone to present this bullshit to a school board" moment.

Yeah, it's on my list. I kinda know the school board president.
Like, I can understand maybe reading Wallace's speech in social studies class as part of a higher-grade study on segregation, but "Read George Wallace's 1963 inaugural speech to identify effective argument techniques" in 8th grade? Even my kid was like: WTF.
-
Yeah, that seems kind of stupid.
If the assignment is to distinguish and contrast argument styles, then there's no reason that you can't compare MLK's "American Dream" speech to Shakespeare's "St. Crispin's Day" speech. Hell, compare and contrast Ned Beatty's speech (as Arthur Jensen) from "Network" with Jack Nicholson's (as Col. Nathan Jessup) from "A Few Good Men". It's not about content: it's about style and it's about how and why these speeches are (probably) embedded in our memories.
Any study on George Wallace should be on how he should be pilloried and forgotten for being anything but a hopelessly backward man, to join the many that seem to hold us back these days out of their fear.

HR complained about the letters from the DR taking the full 14 days I'm allowed to have to gather everything. Then they complained that there was no duration/freq listed - for ankylosing spondylitis and Migraines. One hurts me every single day, and the other? Unpredictable.
But I have a meeting with them today about accommodations. Hahhahaha
ETA: They told me that they could not meet the ADA accommodations requested. That I would only be able to miss one partial/whole day a month, no matter what. Even though they were informed by my neuro that it was a transition period while they get me a new med

The AC unit in our hour has gone down during the hottest few days of the year. I currently care for my Aunt and Mother in the house, and had to ship them off to relatives until things can get fixed. I hate asking for help, especially since I'm more of a lurker here than an active participant, but every little bit helps, and I desperately need it. Thanks for looking.

Posts like this shit.
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/thor-love-thunder-mind-blowing-185800902.html
(Please don't read if you haven't watched Thor: Love and Thunder yet as it may contain spoilers)
But basically clickbait posts claiming revelations and HUGE THINGS WE ALL MISSED then when you read the article it's either pure speculation or absolutely nothing but noise. For instance in the URL above the 'mind blowing' thing isn't in the movie in any form.

I can't be the only person who thinks that roadsigns near construction areas that read "Kill or injure a worker $75,000" seem more like an offer than a warning. Who's writing these things, Eli Roth?

@il-volpe It's markers for the Deathrace 2022.

My shoulder is on fire, and I have to take Logan to the vet and wrangle him today. I am already feeling super anxious about it. Not because he won't behave. I'm just afraid of what they'll tell me.
