@ganymede Oh no, she made the remark there's a connection. I just don't know if she put it in my NOTES from my visit. And trying to get paperwork done takes ages, most of the time.

@ganymede Yeah, I threw that line in to emphasize my irritation at the request rather than because I have any knowledge that it is factually accurate. My point is, it's not okay to ask someone to impose consequences unless they have the authority to enforce the consequences to be imposed; and on a realpolitik level, it's not okay to ask a fellow employee to out herself as a snitch* so she'll absorb all the negative response to policy being enforced.
*no offense intended by this term: I don't usually support snitching, but it is justified in order to protect children

You guys' reaction had me going 'I am in the right here' and that was only confirmed when I checked with a few of the more level headed teachers at the school and their jaws hit the floor and all of them said something along the lines of "you've got to be kidding me."
@Ganymede has the right of it. This admin is incompetent in ways I can't express. He isn't a BAD GUY but damn if I would like him to go to a retreat this summer to learn how to do his fucking job better. It doesn't make me feel good that he makes almost double what I do right now.

I decided to not renew my contract for next year, and instead drop to subbing (I can still work 40 hours a week if I want to, realistically, because the short staff issue isn't going away anytime soon).
I feel guilty because it means we'll have to buy health insurance through the exchange instead of it just coming out of my paycheck. But I just couldn't do it. Too many things were falling through the cracks, and I am so burnt out (and there were some program changes coming next year that like 2 years ago I wouldn't have cared about but it's not 2 years ago right now).
I have destroyed my health in the last 2 years. I have let a lot of things go that I used to maintain a higher standard on. My family has suffered due to my exhaustion and burnout. I kind of wonder if I can ever recover health wise, and if I have any shot I have to have more time to do it.
I'm so tired, guys. It really sucks to have so many people at work say how great I do the job when in fact I know I'm well below my own standard. I can be awesome, which is why it's not total shitshow right now. But I can't keep on destroying myself to deal with the stress. I'm simultaneously relieved but also just feeling like a loser who couldn't hack it. And I know how very privileged I am to be able to consider dropping from full time scheduled hours to subbing.
I love what I do currently. It was my first professional field out of college. But to do it, you can't be a shell of yourself. It's not a hard job but it is high demand. And I've got a lot of other demands in my life that I need to take care of.

I vibe with this statement so completely I can't even express it. This is why I left the classroom.

@mietze If you continually give all that you have, sooner or later you outdo the regen and end up with nothing left to give.
Taking a bit more time for yourself and your family is, in that circumstance, a very good thing.
A lot more people than anyone realises will be feeling this way after the last couple of years. There's a wave of people saying 'fuck it', and while it'll crest at various times depending on where you are and what you've been doing and how the people around you have reacted, it's coming for us all.

So, because of migraines (and lack of treatment for a month), my neuro office wrote me a note to cover my ass for when I just couldn't stand ...well, life in general. AKA in my room with no lights on, ear plugs in, scented candle lit to try and help me relax sort of thing.
Yesterday, my supervisor called me while I was out picking up groceries (what little I dared let myself buy, knowing the bills coming next week, and how little I'll get paid), telling me they're still counting those as occurrences. AKA, I am going to get a serious write up. Now, are the migraines connected to one of my other, ADA protected conditions? Seems so, yes. Does that matter to HR? I don't think so.
So yeah. As much as I like the schedule and pay rate, time to start looking. Sigh.

It will matter when you calmly send them a letter reminding them that write-ups are, in fact, adverse actions under anti-discrimination-in-employment laws.

If your doctor isn't willing to offer this opinion, you may need to find a new doctor or accept that migraines may not be connected to your lupus or ankylosing spondylitis.

I put in my two weeks notice today. Very hard to do. Have agency work lined up making 20-40 more per hour depending on the assignment. I feel bad, but all the management I used to work with left and we are down to just 4 day nurses who are not agency and they won't raise us to what they pay agency. And well it is not even a safe work setting and corporate is so checked out they are not even pretending to try and fix things. But I do feel bad and I am bracing, not sure if can actually go through it. I did put in the note today though.

That's fine. You could always prepare a letter for her signature, however, and see if she'll sign it at your next appointment.

To follow up @kk - It is perfectly OKAY to feel bad though. You are leaving something that you poured your soul into. It is okay to mourn the loss, even if it was a shitty situation.

Oh, for sure. I was interpreting "feel bad" as feel guilty based on prior related messages. I don't think leaving an unsafe situation is something anyone needs to feel guilty about, but ultimately how you feel is how you feel.
