I might blow off a half day and spend it in the sunshine.

@macha Send some of that warm sun my way!

I'm tired.
I'm fucking tired.
I swear, it's like no one in the goddamn city can handle their own shit today and when I do it for them it's suddenly fucking unfair that I charge them for my time.
Like, wizzleshit, if you could've done it on your own, you would, but you fucking can't, so shut the fuck up about fairness.
Client: This isn't fair.
Me: What isn't fair?
Client: This bill. You told me it would cost less.
Me: That was before the defendants lawyered up.
Client: Well, I don't think I should be held responsible for that.
Me: You aren't, but I still have to deal with them.
Client: But why do I have to pay for it?
Me: Because the defendants made it your problem, and because you hired me to fix it.
Client: But it's their fault.
Me: I know.
Client: Why should I have to pay to fix a problem they caused?
Me: Because if you don't then the problem will never get fixed.
Client: This isn't fair.Thank the fucking Lord that I have a fucking game plan in place and soon I won't have to deal with this bugger shit but fuck everyone they are the reason why I go fucking nuts about work all the goddamned time.

I take it this is something you can't get court costs on as a part of the judgment?

You could definitely put that on clientsfromhell.net!

You are familiar with the American Rule?
I practice in the area of real property law.

Right. I keep forgetting that my area is the one full of exceptions.

They're creating more and more chats to clog up my sidebar on Teams.
But every time they try to push or pressure me? I sit back, have some beverage, and take my sweet damned time to GAF.
And I am currently having a sing a long with the Clash.
-
We have five people absent today.
Children still need adequately supervised so....
All hands on deck?
I get why so many Denver schools are just straight up canceled today.
-
They have herded us all into one chat. They want me to tell them when I am going off queue to type up the rest of my call notes (because nine seconds between calls is not enough when software is slower than molasses). I am supposed to tell them when I am going off queue for the rest room, etc. ( I am not a kid in school nor am I in prison, thanks. I need to pee, I'm going to go do it, and they can SMD)
They're trying to humiliate people who are off queue by calling them out in this chat.
We're not TRAINED for this job. People are QUITTING over this
My immediate boss to me: Macha, I know, just... just please don't say anything in the chat. Let them hang themselves with their unprofessional conduct. There are things being handled behind the scenes.
Me: I have other teammates in tears because they're being hounded, they don't know how to use this new software (I have some less tech-friendly teammates), they weren't trained on how to use it. And you want me to say nothing? You say it's being handled. When you KNOW how things have been handled around me since this all started? I'm supposed to TRUST something is going to be done? ... And here I thought you'd met me.
It's one thing for them to screw me over, and screw me around. But when my sweetest teammates are in tears and feeling sick over all this? Naw. Just naw.
-
I used to work in call centers. You do not put people on the phones who are not trained on the phones unless you are in an absolutely desperate situation. Like, cannot-possibly-meet-contractual-obligations-without-asses-in-the-seats levels of dire straits. Or if you're paid by volume, business-getting-ready-to-shut-its-doors levels of panic.
I don't get why your managers are making these decisions, but it sounds like if you're already in this position, no matter what, something bad is coming.
-
@derp This is the contractual obligations panic part. They effed up big, and now they're pulling in people from other departments to try and Cover their asses.
The job hunt continues, my friends. If anyone hears of remote customer service/low level IT jobs, let me know lol

"We need you to set up a volunteer opportunity for us in one month on this specific date at this specific time for ten people. This has to be done by Monday close of business"
Never mind that it's holiday season so everyone is flooded, that it's Friday and I just heard about it at 11:00 this morning, and that I have absolutely no experience or contacts in nonprofit work in the area to coordinate something like this.
Here's hoping some of these emails pan out.

@selira Highway cleanup.

I've been pretty inactive on here mostly because I've been a mix of distracted and tired and dealing with RL. But some cool things have happened recently at my workplace so I'll see what comes of it.
In the past year my employer hired a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist in our HR department, and the company has started programming to that effect. On a lark I sent in an email inquiring as to whether they'd do anything discussing Jewish culture and anti-semitism, pointing out that our flagship office is in a city with the third highest Jewish population in the country. The expected response was more or less "No", but what I did not expect was to be asked to help them expand programming on inclusivity involving the Jewish community. So apparently I'm now the go-to-person for discussion of involving Jewish culture, Zionism, and how to combat anti-semitism. I am BEYOND excited.
As a quick follow-up, I now have a TikTok: judean cupcake. It is, as one might expect, mostly focused on JTok, but if anyone wants to follow me or be followed, please let me know.

I took today off. I decided to throw my boss off. Called him.
M: Hey. I did the measurements, I need like 60 ft of Cat6.
B:..oh, okay! I appreciate you calling me.1 hr later
M: Hey, if they want me to buy it, and the clips I will need, and reimburse me, I'm down for that, too. Amazon has some stuff that's got a coupon on it, and it'll get here faster than anything IT sends me.
B: Oh! Sure, I'll let you know.
He is so confused. He asked me if I was all right, calling him when I took the day off.

I need people to learn how to use the 'accept but don't send response' option for their Microsoft calendar invites.
As MTSS coordinator I set up all the calendar invites for our middle of year meetings and came back to my computer to 100+ emails of people accepting the meeting.

You can actually turn off the option to request responses.

HOW IS THIS NOT STANDARD KNOWLEDGE
-
@silverfox so their marketing team can pimp out their Official Microsoft Office classes and refreshers! Low low price of more money than the program itself costs!
