He's a guy who was bullied for how he looked, so instead of some hackneyed LET'S GIVE YOU A MAKEOVER STORY TEEHEE (female chars get subjected to this far, far too often), they had him own the shit out of it.

Aisha is here, not doing a makeover, torn between being who she was and sporting some new change where she own's it. Tory and Sam's indifferent struggles might give her more independence we saw from her throughout, but Tory to follow after Sam left had her puppy-dogging a friend. She's ready to be way more independent strong.

My feelings on Hawk are complex. I think he's a great character with a well-done arc, and I understand and believe what he's going through, but I also have no sympathy for him because he knows he's terrible and he actively chooses to continue being terrible every day.

I just need more from Aisha. I figure they'll likely give her more of her own story in season 3 (they're doing a good job of not overloading on who gets what story so you don't get lost in the weeds). But she does need to ditch Sam because Sam is the worst.

I really like Aisha's character and I want to see more of her. I have this cynical suspicion the show isn't focusing on her as much because she's overweight and god knows we can't have that when there are girls with tight butts and deep cleavage to focus on. I probably should have included that in my grievances in my original review.

I think that's altogether the point.

Johnny Lawrence was THE chief "bully" of 1980s cinema. Now, in Cobra Kai, we see that Johnny wants more from life but under Kreese couldn't see the forest from the trees and it damaged his life. Hawk was like Johnny, a scrawny kid who was bullied and turned into essentially a violent gang member, but his motivation as a bully (like Johnny) is fear-based. Strike first before they hurt you.

So Hawk is an echo of Johnny in teenage years, thus making the viewer see Hawk through the eyes they saw Johnny in through the 80s, then compare to Johnny now, and then say "Oh come on, Eli, Demetri is your best friend. Don't do this!"

It's good writing, because good TV writers don't write characters who make good decisions; they write characters who will make the audience scream and yell and point at the TV like kids watching Dora the Explorer trying to get her to look under the rock for the banana.

Miguel and Robby are Daniel/Johnny from 2 perspectives (or alternative paths)
Hawk and Tory are Johnny from his old perspective
Demetri is Daniel LaRusso from his old perspective

Delete the Hog Pit. It'll be fun.

Both of these, I want to see more of her too. Nopefully season three gives her a little more sparkle to get away from the other girls and be on her own. I hope its not that the other girls are tight butted or whatever, I'd rather get away from that, but if they're using those to sell it (teenage sex) a little, meh. I'm in her corner, she's my fav.

Seems since S3 will be in Japan, a lot of the other characters won't be in it.

I started Cobra Kai's S2 without any real degree of enthusiasm. I liked the first season but it wasn't exactly in my must-watch list so I watched the first couple of couple of episodes very casually during suppers and stuff.

Then about halfway in I just kinda went 'wow' and watched the second half in a row, in one sitting. It got really good, really fast, at least for me. The season finale kicked some serious ass.

Also: The Boys! Episode 3 was quite a twist. I did not see that coming.

                            Okay, fucking, She-Ra now?

These 80s re-makes are really hitting.

(She-Ra on Netflix is very, very, very, very good.)

I was only going to watch one episode before going to bed after I disconned from Arx, but I ended up staying awake until 1:30 AM watching through Season 1.

Like, I don't cry at very much, but the second-half of the season was tough to get through at times. I know what it's like to go through childhood compared with a golden child and criticized by a high-scrutiny mother.

I watched the first season and was waiting for other seasons to come along for what felt like forever. Then I got distracted by a shiny for a moment and they went and finished the entire series.
