@Jaded One of the things they tried to do was keep it not too far beyond what they had on FOX. 'Add a few butts here and there' was pretty much the extent of it. Possibly a LITTLE more language but not much -- this was actually something specifically cited as something they didn't want to push too far.

The reason why is actually pretty interesting: the show apparently had a much more broad than normal demographic of fans, many of which would be put off if they went too far in pushing what the new home allows. (More profanity, more nudity, more violence, etc.) They wanted to stay as true as possible to the show the existing fans -- which were so enthusiastic it's why Netflix nabbed it in the first place -- would stick with it and not suddenly be put off. I get that, and think it's pretty clever; it gives it more of a chance, too, I think, of getting us a potential season 5. 😄

      Oh fucking well.

Before now I didn't even know Lucifer was based on a comic. I thought it was just yet another procedural with a random twist.

It's based on a (IMO generally 'meh') comic that is a spinoff of (IMO the absolutely amazing) comic Sandman.

Mazikeen looks like this in the comics, for the record:

@Rinel They do actually show a reasonable facsimile of that in an episode, with an ominous flash or two of it otherwise. The 'full view' version is actually... one of the most endearing scenes in the whole run of the show, really.

Otherwise, she has, uh, a brow scar. Though I can see why they'd have some kind of illusion going to mostly cover that if she's prancing around on Earth as an asskicker who isn't supposed to blow his cover.

            Oh fucking well.

Can I just say that the introduction of

Eve was surprisingly well done? I thought she was going to be a full on eye roll worth of character but she was actually really well written into the script and the fact that in her own way she knew she was "supposed to be" an eye roll and didn't want to be, was pretty brilliant. Not to mention the actress was just incredibly charming. I constantly wanted to hug her.

I agree. I like how they introduced her and I also like that you did not get the feeling that she was a single purpose character who was meant to be there then disposed of. I like how she impacted the story arc.

Honestly, even the casting shows a love for Pratchett throughout (Death's actor was in a Color of Magic miniseries for example as the Narrator) and that's part of what spoke to me in my viewing of it. It's a good homage to the book and a sort of love letter to Pratchett and his friendship with Gaiman.

@Auspice Preattchjet is my all time fave author and yes, i am noticing similar things.

I also noticed that i think I married Anathema Device, or at least the Goth Librarian version of her... which caused me to pause the show at this epiphany to tell her i married the person from my favorite book.

I binged it. I was happy. It wasn't perfect, because it couldn't be, but it was good, and that's enough.

I think Gaiman has grown up a bit, become a bit more Pratchetty, a bit less angsty. There are some happy endings that didn't happen in the book, and I liked it. I also like how a joke about Queen being absolutely inescapable in the late 80s turned into an awesome classic rock soundtrack.

Side note: I never realized Good Omens was published the year I was born.

Deadly Class was one of the few newer shows that I was genuinely in love with. Now I'm gonna have to buy it on disc.
