Tattoo!!
If I ever get a tattoo it will be of a spider. On my scalp. I will shave my head, get a tattoo of a massive spider, then wear a hat until the hair grows back to cover it.
Why?
Well, first, I kinda think spiders are spiffy. But that's not the main reason. The main reason is that I'm balding. There's a race on my head between the hair thinning out to the point of absence on the top, friar-style, and the corners above my forehead pushing back to meet behind my head. And as I bald, more and more of that spider will become visible. That will be fun.
Man, I hope you have a high threshold for pain, 'cuz that shit is gonna HURT.

Accepted a job offer for a position I'm really excited about after negotiating up the initial offer an additional $8k and one week's vacation. Pretty happy!

I will say one thing for my college career.
I used to be very good at coming up with story seeds, but struggled to develop good mid- and turning points to lead into nice endings. Having to sometimes come up with a new and complete story from month to month or even week to week has gotten me very good at this.
I just fleshed out an entire story idea that 'm quite happy with in a single evening.

So I like nail polish.
I like Essie brand for some of the colors. I decided to go to my local Walgreens with my sister as I was blowing off my walk with her. Essie is like 9-10 bucks a pop. ALL the colors were on sale for like 4 bucks. I may have bought 10 of them.
I regret nothing.

When a position opens up at work, and things seem to start falling into place. A position in billing opened up, so I arranged a side by side with their department to see if it would fit. It seems like it'll be awesome, so my manager had me take time during work to get my app and resume in. Two hours later I had an email stating they wanted to interview me at 4p today. Interview went awesome, like... this GIF awesome.
No specific word yet, but it seems quite likely I'll be moving departments as of August.
-
UPDATE: I got the job! They verbally offered it to me and I accepted, I get my paperwork to sign tomorrow. Apparently this is the fastest they've ever went from 'application through interview to hiring' that the hiring people can ever recall. I move positions on August 21st.

Congrats, man!

Definitely congratulations.
On my own personal note, my partner finished her first year of her physician's assistant program. Next year is clinicals, and then the Boards. Anyone who knows me personally knows how much I consider this a ridiculously-hard accomplishment, and how long we have been working towards this.

That feeling when you start writing again and suddenly put out over 2k words in a single sitting. Nnnnfff.

@Coin That deserves a rousing HELLS YEAH!!!, man. 'cause I feel you on creative blocks, and all the cheering on getting past them.

I found that person that I pretty much perfectly mesh with for idea sharing. Like the feedback I get from them is exactly what I need and we function on the same wavelength. We've had discussions on unrelated things turn into stories that I've used for class- with huge success.
Like, I have a goddamn muse, y'all.
If it doesn't work, they tell me it doesn't fucking work. If it works, they tell me not just that it works, but why it works (which helps me build off of the part that works to enhance the story further).
I have, as a writer, needed this for so long.

@Auspice These people are pure gold. Platinum, even. Shower them with love and cookies and cherish them lots.

Just binge watched the last two Harry Potter movies with my teens. Sure, there was some dorky showing off about how unimpressed they were but when the first movie was over they asked if they could watch the second and the whole family minus the 3 year old (we didn't start until 9:30ish so he'd been long asleep) was camped out on the couches together.
It was nice. I'm sure I'll want to kill them tomorrow because of obnoxious squabbling. But tonight was super sweet.

This is not a recent thing, but a discussion with a friend and sorting through the yarn for the dye room re-setup brought it to mind.
The (late) Ancient Cat once had the best queen of all the cats moment. I had this big wheel of yarn, on a cone. (Basically, picture a roll of toilet paper 8 inches high and over a foot across, but the 'toilet paper' is wound yarn.)
She pranced downstairs, and saw this. Her little kitty eyes just went wide and she staaaaaaaared. And then she hopped up on it and muffin-posed with her little feet tucked under her fluff and began purring SO loud with the most pleased-with-herself look ever. She was all, 'I have the BEST yarn of all the cats, I have a yarn THRONE!!!' <smug>
It was perhaps one of the most jaw-droppingly adorkable things I have ever seen in all my life. We never had the heart to even use that yarn after that. I mean. How could we steal the queen's throne? She perched on it every time she was in the room until it eventually moved, at which point she would stalk around the room crying piteously until after a day or two of feeling like the worst monsters that ever lived we bought her a little stool to perch on as a new throne.

As of tomorrow, I will be 1 month without smoking or any sort of nicotine replacement. So no vape, gum, patch, anything. Just nothing. I am already noticing a significant difference in how I feel.

How do you feel? Last time I did this I felt terrible for about a week, and then just ... nothing.

More energy, easier to bounce around for longer. Breathing easier. I was super crabby for a couple of weeks, but that seems to have faded. I've also successfully turned the habit of 'urge to smoke' from 'go smoke' to 'go walk around the pond' (I really only get the mental cravings at work, not at all at home anymore), so that's probably helping too. I have been walking the shit out of the trail around the pond.
