RL things I love

I have heard 5E is really pretty good, but have yet to look at it or play it. I should try and fix that. Call it my resolution for the year
-
... is it bad that I prefer 13th Age in general?
-
@bobotron Yes. (no)
-
MIXED SIGNALS @Misadventure . AUGH!
Really though, I went from playing AD&D 2nd Edition, skipped everything until 4e (and loved it because I didn't have to do Mother May I? as a fighter), and read both 5e and 13th Age. I tried to get my brain into 3.X and Pathfinder, but was just... overwhelmed by everything.
-
@bobotron I was just being sassy cuz I was bored.
-
I know. I'm also being silly to keep my mind off of my painful arm.
On the note of RL things I love: my gaming nerd friends. I get so much different game exposure from them, and they're willing to try just about anything, so we always have stuff to do.
-
As someone who has played D&D since... well, before lots of people were even alive (I am old)...
I honestly like 5th Edition.
A lot.
It's very well balanced.

"There is no way that's gonna work, I mean, I gotta try it because it'd be stupidly helpful and save a ton of time and fussing and make things infinitely more simple and modular, but there is just no way that-"
"...worked."
(Last night apparently proved that 'optimal liquor content for coding' rule, at least as pertains to wiki.)

@bobotron
Not really I like a lot of the stuff in 13th age, about the only thing I really don't like is the one thing that keeps me from running it. Set damage instead of rolled for NPCs. -
@thatguythere So why not change it?
You can come up with something complicated like replacing damage pts with something like a D6 1=0 damage, 2-5 = 1 damage, 6 = 2 damage, then replace one, half or all of the damage rating with these dice. You could do a chart based on 2d6, and make up a randomness to replace the damage values.
You could say that a good roll from an NPC enables a chance for more only.
Its your game, as long as you are consistent, and keep an eye on the results, it'll work out.

Sometimes the tickets I get at my job are amazing...

That kinda makes me think of how numb I am when customers would threaten to sue for x or y reason as a scare tactic. Please, feel free. Sue the company all you want. It doesn't scare me, it just annoys me that you keep talking out of your ass.

On a more positive note, I have bacon. Nice crispy bacon.

#JadedByCustomerServiceI frequently screencap/share those threats with my team with a 'please do' joke.
Or my other favorite. the 'I'M CALLING THE BBB.' Yes. Because we're following our clearly posted policies.
Have fun with that. -

I love the world. The future is now. Please give me robot limbs.

@mietze, bless her soul, gave me a large Kong for my dog and he has taken to it spectacularly.
For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a hand-sized rubber gourd with a hole at each end, one small, one a little larger. You stuff it full of treats, and then give it to your dog to entertain them as they try to figure out how to get the treats out. It also gives them something to chew on which helps the state of their teeth.
I start with breaking off pieces of his large dog treat biscuits, then mix kibble with some kind of soft food item that he likes. So far I've had success with cream cheese and canned pumpkin, which can be used to sort of cap off the top hole.
Watching him try to gnaw his way toward the larger treats and manipulate the kong so that the pieces fall out has been delightful!

@cupcake I love that dog. Seeing pictures of him is great, and I can totally imagine this just having seen said pictures. What a good boy.

Finally getting a job back in my field of expertise, and it is work from home, so happy right now I could die. Will probably even be online more now. Yay me! Yay for my projects!
