XCOM 2: The War of the Chosen.

Ah, to play XCOM 2 again, and make it a joyfully-stressful experience. So much to do, so little time.

β€œIt is better to live doing the things that you like. It is foolish to live within this dream of a world seeing unpleasantness and doing only things that you do not like.” -- Yamamoto Tsunetomo.

Unagi don/unadon/unagi donburi. That is to say, a bowl of steaming hot rice topped with eel grilled in teriyaki style, with the salty sweet sauce turned into a caramelized glaze from exposure to flame. My local place adds thin marinated strips of seaweed and a generous scoop of masago. It's become my favorite comfort food, especially when the weather's cold.

@kay So long as it sits just long enough for the rice to eventually become a gooey mess of rice and sauce, I'm so in.

I wish I had some of this right now. There's a few places in town that have it, I bet....

It is way too damned hot to be hungry at all, and now I am. Damn you people.

              Oh fucking well.

Finally cleared all the tests - and I start a glorious new job on Monday, that's actually going to pay me worth a damn. I am so excited, especially since I can wear non-dressy footwear. (It's impossible for me to find dress shoes that don't kill my joints after a couple hours.)

My roommates are taking me for birthday goodness this weekend, despite the fact they're on some insane diet, so I can have the indulgent bad for me stuff that I've been trying to avoid (because it seems wrong to tempt them).

There will be cake and wine, and I refuse to feel bad about it!

Other really random thing I love - When people are happy and supportive - just because you're trying/being happy and something is going right. I love all the good-hearted, supportive people!

@tinuviel Hey, I don't know you, and if I do it's not through this screen name of yours here. I have a bunch of people that are being supportive and happy for me with the new job, so I'm appreciating that and feeling the love, and trying to spread it.

I think that's sort of the premise of this thread.

                      But, you do you.

@macha I was referring more to the idea of people being supportive simply to be supportive, rather than any direct relation to you.

Once again, Tabletop Simulator with Discord chat is the shit. Hearing people I've Mu*d with laugh and swear at each other (at the same time) has amazing healing properties.

                            Bravo, you glorious jerks.

I think just "gaming with friends, with voice chat" in general hits this for me. Be it ARK, or Warframe, or Tabletop Simulator, or real tabletop via Roll20 or something, hearing the laughter of your friends is a wonderful thing.

I ran around an island taming dinosaurs tonight with my guild, got eaten by a pack of raptors, and spent a couple of hours shrieking and laughing over it all. Fun times.

Girl, go get a bra fitting. You know it's been too long since your last one and the Nordstrom's annual sale starts Wednesday. Wearing the right sized bra will change your damned life.

Our derpy floufcat, perched on the back of my chair, just headbonked me and made a boop noise.

                                  AN ACTUAL BOOP NOISE.

I am in awe; this cat is magic. ❀

My old man cat (he turned 18 this week!) makes the 'mrrrrrr?' noise when he boops. I love him so much. 😞

@bobotron Our Ancient Cat made it over twenty years -- so don't pre-emptively sad. ❀ She was our ball of snark. We joke that she was the Sith Empress, and the derpy floufcat was her Apprentice. Derpy floufcat is a good apprentice, she really is, despite being the sweetest derp-creature, and utterly devoid of snark.

I cat sneeze. Derpy floufcat people sneezes: loudly. Somehow, this is the funniest thing in the whole world to me and I couldn't tell you why, it just is. (She's the one that sneezed, scared herself with the noise of her own sneeze, backpedaled into the headboard, thought something smacked her in the butt, and bolted from the bed at warp speed to hide for several hours. She is... not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but damn if she isn't adorkable.)

                                      Oh fucking well.

I mostly sad because he has some mobility issues; he has trouble using his back legs sometimes, and so he'll flop down and pull himself for a bit, then go back to walking. It's just arthritis in those from what the vets said. He still loves to play and any time he's cuddling and I'm listening to my headphones he's like 'Hey, STRING! batbatchew!' or we'll walk past his bed and he'll go 'MROWL!' and want a treat. And SpecialCat (I will call her that from now on, okay?) sounds adorable. πŸ™‚ We really don't deserve the fluffs in our lives.

Ike will be 9 this year and I already get kind of sad sometimes because I know it will be absolutely devastating when I lose her. She is my everything. She is the single-most important thing to me in this world.

She's still healthy other than her left eye gets irritated from time to time and I have to switch up her food sometimes because her stomach is sensitive (the Purina One Sensitive Systems I've had her on has been doing best, but she still has her bad days).

But I could seriously lose everything else and be OK so long as I had her, but I don't know what I'd do if I lost her.

One of mine is not quite 10 yet and started losing weight for no reason. No other symptoms. I immediately had him checked out and had blood drawn. I suspected what it might be and hoped it was that because the other obvious option is cancer.

I was right and he turned out to be hyperthyroid, a very common thing in cats right around that age. I got him radioiodine therapy and he had a bad reaction to it (despite what the vet tells you, the rare cat does react badly to it just like humans). After the 3-4 days quarantine, he came home but got very lethargic and wouldn't eat. He wanted to but was obviously nauseous and would throw up bile. Didn't eat anything for about 6 days.

Fortunately, he got through it and is now back to normal, minus being hyper from too much thyroid hormone. The whole experience of seeing him like that and not being able to do anything to help just killed me.

The life of a pet's human.
