How are you coping with COVID (and other 2020 fun)?

It's been several days and I'm still so fucking angry that I probably didn't even write this well enough to convey why I'm so fucking angry.
Oh, I think we all felt it.
-
Edit: I decided not to be a crybaby on Christmas.
-
@caryatid Personally, I don't trust people who don't have reasons to cry during the holidays.

I don't trust people who need the holidays to dig up their reasons to cry.
-
@PuppyBreath I feel you.
I have cried pretty easily the last few days. No shame in it. I am isolated, and 3/5th of what is left of my nuclear family got together without mention or invitation to me. I just wanted to see my 1 yr old nephew playing with the paper and boxes.

Coping with alternating bursts of gallows optimism and weirdo memes, snacks, and meds. Tea. Also cats. These house goblins are mischief and mayhem and keep me engaged.
Finished a semester of school, trained new people at work because our turnover rate is high, and wondered if sleep counts as a hobby now.
I think it does.
If it weren't for the support system that I worked very hard on were no longer there - I would be lost, so I made damn sure (practicing aggressive kindness) that everyone knew how much I appreciated them this year.
-
Reaction videos have been helping me a lot. Watching millennials watch the movies of my childhood almost feels like going to the movies with someone.

In some ways, it hasn't been the kind of hell for me it has for my husband. I'm used to being home and generally isolated. I'm also lucky: my parents live next door.
It hasn't been an easy year, regardless. I'm dealing with different kinds of isolation than I'm accustomed to, and while that's 'like everybody else', they aren't the same things as most other people, which is unhelpful.
I'm watching a lot of movies and shows. I'm trying to design a perfect dream house I'll never live in just to do it. I keep waffling over designing a game or not, then getting distracted by something else. (I know what I want to do, it's the doing it that's... meh.) Still trying to help people deal with Qanon disinfo and chaos, harassment, and threats.

Just found out my family's been exposed to COVID because my BIL guilted my husband into attending a Christmas gathering after we missed Thanksgiving (to prevent this EXACT THING from happening). About to fucking murder some people.
-
I will help you hide the bodies.
-
@snackness I don't know how long you're willing to drive for it but... I know a great place in Florida full of gators and snakes and animals that will eat anything... 24 hours there and nobody will recognize that there was ever a body to begin with. >.>
-
@Snackness, to follow up on @Too-Old-For-This, I live just three miles east of the Everglades, ten miles west of the ocean, and have a guest room AND a pool...y'know. If you had a reason to visit just RANDOMLY.

I'm a lawyer. We're supposed to be essential. But not all of us have to deal with criminal stuff.
And those of us who do can't always handle it. I quit my job and have been unemployed since August, though I'm keeping up my license. It was too much. Still living with my parents, helping around the house, trying to fix my mental state. Hopefully going to start up a joint venture with my mother educating lawyers about trans issues, but everything is in flux right now.
So, like... I've been talking to friends, playing video games, and trying to ignore the crushing sense of failure.

You know, we have a unique opportunity. We could swap murders...
I'll do them for you, if you do the anti-vaccination people leading the misinformation in my small town? Other than this board, there is nothing to connect us...
-
I am unbelievably saddened by this, but I understand. If there's some way I could help, please advise me.
-
Today I am dealing by not dealing. Another two friends have tested positive and are showing symptoms, and I'm just.. burnt out and exhausted. I've already wept today.
Then I ordered frozen pizza, hot dogs, and bagels. New Years', here I come.

Thanks, robocat.
At the end of the day, law school just doesn't prep you to know whether or not you're built for litigation. I still like policy work, and when I'm healthier I intend to get back into it. But the relentless pace combined with my mental health combined with my transition combined with, you know...
gestures at 2020
It burnt me out. But like I said: keeping the license. Still paying dues, doing CLEs. Just in case.

Estate work might be your thing, especially for LGBTQ+ clients. Polyamory is a difficult situation to deal with when it comes to estate planning, for instance.

Ugh. It's a nightmare in Louisiana particularly. We'll see how this sensitivity training works out, first.

Whoops wrong thread.
