That moment you are planning out your 2017. You are making your household binder of awesome organization (don't judge me people). You are making your gym schedule. You are making your goal chart with rewards, etc. This is all to start on Sunday. You are pumped. You are ready to go. You are even plotting out what horrible food you will eat between now and that day. Then it hits you....
You rush back through your day planner and you frown at Sunday. Horror overtakes you as the realization grabs hold. You are starting on the first of the year.
You are....
THAT PERSON.

@Catsmeow I have steadfastly resolved to not start a goddamned thing until we are out of the holiday cookies given us by well-meaning friends and family, because:
- It would be an insult not to eat them!
- If I ate them all that fast I would die, for real.
- I really do not feel like going to the store by Sunday for The Healthy Foods because it's a bit Out Of My Way And Difficult To Arrange A Ride To. That can really hold off another week or two.
Because cookies.
(And no matter what die+t I'm on or plan to start or anything, every year my parents give me one of those giant containers of Lindor Truffles. I have actually had to give them away other years, but 2016 can seriously fuck itself, I earned my gods-be-damned truffle-y goodness this year.)
-
Oh, I'm just going to make better decisions. You know, like eat two truffles not the whole bag like I'm in a contest. Preeeccciouses.
And I'm more happy to have my budget part of the binder put together. I even bought cards and addressed them to people with January birthdays I know AND... got stamps.

2016 just haaaad to get one more kick in, I guess.
Nothing says 'have a great holiday weekend' like stress vomiting so violently you re-break a rib (and can feel it popping around in your chest), sprain several muscles throughout your torso and neck, and tear a few more.
Moving is not really a thing at the moment. Thank gods for still having some heavy duty painkillers handy, or breathing would barely be a thing right now.
Why this is something to be really fucking angry about? The husband's workplace keeps changing up their insurance constantly. As in, they've changed it no less than four times in the past six months. The new plan did not/does not kick in until today (and this happened two days ago now) -- but the latest insurance switch was done so recently we have no insurance cards or proof of insurance at all yet. Considering all the tests they're going to want to do... ffffffuck, yeah, we can't afford that until we have those.
-
@surreality You can almost always download something temporary from the insurance's website. At the very least, you can get the policy number, group number and whatever other number you might need. And even though you might not have a card, the information is in the insurance company's system so that the doctors can verify it. All patient insurance info is verified. Cards are not accepted as proof without question. Call the doctor/hospital/whatever, explain the situation and stress you have all ID numbers.
-
@TNP We tried. All of their contact numbers we have were M-F, and no holidays. Which is INSANE. Bri was looking for hours, but couldn't find it, calling every number on their web site. I suspect all of that info is probably in the packet they'll eventually send, but just so much argh.
-
@surreality You should be able to register on their website with just a social security number.
-
@TNP I will pass that along to him, because seriously... I need to get this looked at.
-
@surreality I just googled 'register' along with 3 different insurance companies in this area. They all had an option to use the SS# to register. And once registered, you can log in and get your #s.
-
@TNP Will prod him on this. They kept asking for his name on the phone line recording... he'd go through all the stuff, and then get 'we're sorry, our office hours are... ' with every number they had, which is weirdly terrifying.
-
Insurance companies are like bad staffers only IRL. They demand you play their rules, their rules make no sense, they refuse to accept blame. HOWEVER, they are happy to point out your mistakes. Oh and really they are never wrong and can cancel you even if you really didn't do anything and they don't really help, but you have to have them.
TL;DR Bad staffers are insurance agents.
-
@surreality I hope the lack of an update means success in getting your insurance info and you went/are now getting fixed?
-
@TNP Sadly, not yet. He apparently still wasn't having any luck with it while I was crashed out, but will be able to get the info required first thing tomorrow morning from his boss.
We are setting up an appointment with our normal doc who saw me pre-insurance and was always flexible with stuff anyway, because he's genuinely a good soul and does whatever he can to help us out. So at least there will be something, and ideally by the time it gets to xrays and whatever else, we'll have the info we need.

I've had a sinus infection of some stripe or another for over a month now.
Getting kinda tired of all the goo in my throat.

I ordered something online recently and requested that the package be left at the back door where there's a weather-proof box specifically for packages. Where did FedEx leave the package instead? On my front lawn. In the middle of a thunderstorm. And it was two days later than they said it would arrive.
This annoys me incredibly.

@Auspice
I know your pain. Theraflu Expressmax pills have helped me quite a bit. -

I love my dog, I really do, and I know my bestie/roommate loves him too. But lately we've had some serious problems with counter-surfing and stealing odds and ends from the kitchen. We have a baby gate that we use to block off the kitchen when folks are in there cooking, but his food and water dishes as well as the dog door to our backyard are in the back end of the kitchen and we can't deny him access to them in the daytime when folks are at work or at night when people are asleep.
I plan to take him to obedience school (as much for me as for him) but I have to wait until I free up the money. Today he stole a loaf of fresh baked challah right off the top of the stove even with a large pot put in front of it to keep him from doing so. Roomie has been working hard to bake these, and I can't blame her for being pissed at him. But it's frustrating for me, and while this used to be something that happened on occasion, the frequency of occurrence has been increasing much to my frustration.
-
@Cupcake Can you put his dishes somewhere else during the day time or is the problem he's not potty trained?
