@Meg We tried to do this for one of our gym memberships... they kept us waiting about 20 minutes just before we could talk to them about cancelling it.
-
To be clear, I am building this gym and then doing a training montage to be able to cancel the membership to the other gym, right? I think that sounds like a plan.
The one I am at isn't even a big chain one. Just one of the many implementations of CrossFit.
-
apparently cancelling a gym membership is like mission impossible.
I had to buy the damn thing out when I was moving to another city. It was the single most difficult thing to get out of during that move.
And I do miss having a gym membership. I live in the desert hellscape that is Phoenix, and there's a solid three or four months out of the year when going to the park to walk or jog is not feasible. But it was such a bad experience I'm still in Never Again mode.

I ended up moving to where I was like, a quarter of a mile within their 'range,' but only if you calculated as the crow flies. Driving-wise, it was like a goddamn hour... with good traffic.
Fuck gyms.

@Auspice If you have the space, have you considered a home gym?
-
-
@Auspice I hear ya. In Toronto where the real estate prices have ballooned it's impossible to find a reasonable place where I want it with enough space... else it would save so much time. Hell, money too - with a year and a half's membership fees you can afford a pretty damn decent home gym and that's if you buy everything first hand.
-
-
Space is not something I have. I've got an exercise bike and a yoga mat tucked in a corner. That's about the extent of it.
Daily Burn.
Try it. You'll like it.
Considering how much I hate working out (since it generally results in a lot of physical weakness and pain because yay fibro)... I doubt you, sir.
I need to work out. I should work out. I've been trying to develop better habits. But I doubt I'll ever like it.

Daily Burn includes yoga and workouts for beginners. It's a good starting point, and there are tons of routines. It's good for rookies and experts.
I've been working out for years. I still find some of their shit challenging as hell. And when I have an off-day, I can punch in a 20 minute yoga routine to limber up. My doctor is pleasantly surprised to see how limber I still am, given my age.

I hate that I still turn into my eight-year-old self when I see a dentist's chair.
Also, to the nice hygienist I had this morning: I hope I didn't give you any anxiety. It wasn't you, it was me.
-
I moved state from a local gym. They are still trying to hold me to a contract I didn't renew. Who knew that getting out a gym membership would be so hard? It's like it's mafia. You can be part of the family, but you can never leave the family.
Mall walk - I admit that I did this when I lived in Phoenix. You get to people walk and suck up the air conditioning. Also, depending on when you go, you feel REALLY young.

I do, and I Walmart/Target walk. It's fine a day or so a week but when I'm trying to grind out steps/miles every day, it doesn't always fit into my schedule. I've yet to find a home treadmill that really works for me, though that's an option I'm exploring again this year.

Just do like I did once and cancel the card the gym membership payments are going on

Oh look, it's today's reason for drinking.
Behold, the sort of shit I have to deal with for work:
Just as I predicted I would no longer be able to play because of your ignorant rape you raped my freedom away from me, all I asked was to keep my old passwords, when you forced us to add symbols I can never log on to play or buy the new cards or enter my new codes, I can't even recover my account, my name is <redacted>, born November 28 1991, please give me a way to get my account back without having to change my password with symbols and garbage as if I work for the FBI and I'm logging into a secret file from mission impossible, what's next for your security? Blood tests? Finger prints!? These security measures are ridiculous waste of recourses for your company and game time for the players, please recover my account for me and all the daily rewards I wasn't able to get because of your force password change rape scam, when you force someone to do something that's rape, please stop raping me and let me get my account back please. Sorry for harsh language, I share this account with my son, he is crying having tantrums and panic attacks blaming me for losing the account when it's you guys forcing us to change passwords, I warned you guys before I have a memory problem I only remember things from a year ago and before that not after so there is no new passwords I will ever be able to possible remember, do you guys want to be known as a company that discriminates against disabled people? Judging by how fast you turned Jynx purple I don't think a law suit coming from a group of disabled players would help your company. Please fix my password.

@Auspice What the actual fuck?
-
-
That is typical of the behavior video game players heap on CS.

I was allowed to send my 'You're an absolute raging idiot and here's why' in polite speak response.
But I was pissed off enough to do some digging.
This guy's email led me to a few of his other emails and usernames.
And oh look, he engages in buying/selling accounts on MMOs, botting, phishing scams...... so we're probably just outright banning his account.
