Super Hero System?

Marvel Heroic using Cortex+
If it's not the TSR version of Marvel, it is not gonna happen for me. I hated the newer versions of the game. No real way to make OC's.

Right up your alley. Believe you were looking for something like this, though I just read the description, did not peek inside.

FASERIP version?
-
I'll take a look if I can find it available to me. Interesting to see what they did at least.
-
I have poked a little at G-Core, did not buy it byut looks at the preview stuff and it looked very TSR Marvel.
If you like the FASERIP marvel check out Four Color as well sicne it is pretty much a direct port with the marvel stuff filed off. Also Check out the classic marvel forever website. Don't have the addy handy at the moment but it has a couple of fan made versions of the system that stay pretty true to the original. -
I've looked at the classic marvel forever already, but, this is really about what other people would want for a system, of which I have gotten very few answers.

I can only speak for myself. I personally dislike any game system where the description of things are so vague that interpersonal aggressiveness, charisma, power gaming or popularity can alter the interpretation of some in an inconsistent way.
So a +1D complication should be the same scope from character to character, no matter who is involved as player.
Things are always open to interpretation, it's the personal power of a given player altering those rule I am most concerned with. I've had some very reasonable, logical players, and IF I agree with them, i still need to make sure that the other players benefit from an expanded ruling etc.
I hope that makes sense. I want a leveled, egalitarian playing field.
-
@Misadventure If you have more than one ST in the game then you will never have parity or consistency.
-
You can get close for items written down like a Complication etc. I've had problems where one player pushes the boundary in one direction, and another player goes the opposite. If you are going to go with the stronger personality players views, you should review the other player, and see that they are getting the same experience/value.

I'll admit i has been MANY years since I played SAS. But I am playing BESM-star wars right now and love it.
BESM Star Wars, you say?
I need to pick your brain...

You can, I'm not the GM but it has gone well in the whole 2 sessions to date.

I prefer the vague, and open to interpretation. Because people come in many shapes and sizes and what they do, also.
What you're saying is you prefer the author's interpretation.
I also don't want to play in an even field and expecting to do so, even on a MUSH is unrealistic. Time will increase the gulf.
Players that join in 5 years down the road will not be anywhere near the capabilities of , well you get it.... extreme example. The whole idea of a MUSH is to create a shared world and a way to interact in it. My idea of a world is not exactly one where everyone
is equal.Strong personalities? Will always push. Doesn't matter what system. Ditto with the rest .... charisma, power gaming or popularity, etc.
As for +1D being the same, etc. Doubt it. But it's a choice, not mandatory. People make decisions to take X, Y and or Z, for whatever reason. The whole concept of being worried about somebody else's interpretation is kind of weird to me.Part of the beauty of Supers!, especially when it come to outcomes is that the player has more choices, and I like that. Only a power gamer or min maxer would be worried about that. The entire idea is that everyone have fun. Let me give... an example.
Charlie: I want to stop Megan from getting away. I zap her with my power bolt.....
Rolls. Yay. Dance. Result: 2D damage. That should take her out, she only has 2D Fortitude right?
Megan(GM): Yeah, but since you were trying to stop her from getting away, Megan is going to choose to split the damage between
Fortitude and Reaction. You hit her in the leg........but she's still hopping along....I like that flexibility. I will grant you, however, that this tends not to work very well PvP, and to prevent it, Charlie could have been more specific, perhaps, or it wouldn't matter. Possibly a policy thingie. According to the book rules, player hit gets to choose if they can justify it. That could be annoying, PvP wise and lead to plenty of arguments? That's why there's a GM, and definitely needs to be one if there is PvP occurring
There are definitely things to consider when creating a MUSH that go above and beyond a normal TT session/campaign.
Anyways, way way off topic.
My vote, btw, in case you didn't guess was for Supers! .
To answer ..... what I really want, though is just an original theme superhero mush. No, not quite that. A non DC/Marvel universe. In that regard, I'm like Misaventure and I don't want to deal with interpretations of cannon. -
@tragedyjones
Mostly I am just wondering how your GM did things; did he do any pre-built templates for things like the species the PCs wanted to play, or did he just let you point-build the things based on the SW wiki and knowledge? The reason I ask, we're looking to do Star Wars when my Final Fantasy tabletop ends, and we were looking at doing BESM for it. I'm just deciding whether or not it'll be worth having the templates pre-made or not.
-
My tabletop group ran a BESM Star Wars for a few sessions. It was pretty fun but unfortunately my tabletop group has the collective attention span of a squirrel and it died.
-
Mostly we were being trusted to build things to the extent we thought mattered. For example, we have a Chiss, an Ortolan and a human. I haven't seen the other's sheets entirely but I know my Chiss just has Feature (Low Light Vision). We use stuff lifted wholesale from the Book when we can (space cruiser, laser sword, etc).
btw We are using 3E.
-
@tragedyjones
We'd be using 3E too, as that's what we're all the most familiar with. Right now it's looking like we'll have a Human, a Miraluka and a toss up between an Ithorian or a Trandoshan for the first three players. -
Alright, so the BESM stuff isn't for this topic, please take to chat or messages or whatever.
So far I have one person wanting a loose rule set, and one wanting a very strict rule set, but both wanting Supers! which is funny all things considered.
Hmm... Supers is a bit more low powered than I was wanting so will also take some tweaking as well.
Aberrant on one hand, (with a completely new setting, I have ideas of how the world reacts to the Nova's and the cause of them, no Divis Mal etc), or a beefed up Supers on the other (Talking like, 7 to 8D instead of 4-5D caps).
