And they had the nerve to ask me if they could try it! Motherfuckers, once you brought it up I wouldn't have it any other way.
I salute you. It's always great to reward players who...use their head.
This post deserves ten upvotes (and one whap to the back of the head for the pun).

I love giving people +reccs and badges.

When my character was a little girl, she had a crush on a certain someone. I consider this to be mental canon backstory for her.
Roleplay in realtime ultimately proved this paragon to be unreciprocating in feeling, at which point she tried to move on, and she did find someone else, someone who really suited her, and came to the realization that her childhood crush and she would have made each other completely miserable.
And then childhood crush finds out their beloved is marrying someone else.
My girl is sympathetic, but as I'm playing her, she doesn't even feel a twinge. Like...there's some nostalgia there for the young girl who had a crush on the young boy? But it's a memory thing, not a now-thing.
This makes me happy. I used to be super-bad at getting my characters to process emotional recovery from rejection. And now it just feels right. Right for the character, right for the story.

Edgy parental RP. One of my favourite MU moments was buying my character's son a puppy then forcing him to kill it on his next birthday with a card that read "I dare you to love again." Unironically believed he had the kid's best interests at heart by hardening him into a man instead of letting him grow up to be a pansy. My character was so proud to be on the receiving end of a patricide.

Where are y'all finding all this edginess? I run into a lot of people that start getting uncomfortable with light drug use and some swearing.

Imo it's on most MUs but not publicly advertised by those involved. Once word gets out to the PC sphere that you're acting like an edgelord you're going to be on the receiving end of some hilariously disproportionate retribution. Like vampires and werewolves banding together to murder some unimportant human nobody because he likes to drink and beat his wife.

@coin You'd be surprised. The last game I played heavily was touted as a grimdark world. Yet my character cussed like a sailor, would come up with ideas like, "That guy over there looks like an easy mark, let's rob him." and other players would be like "No! W-why, why would you do that? I mean we're thugs, but....we don't do that."
@goyim Gotcha. That's kinda what I noticed would happen if somebody tried to pull it off.

... what game was this? lol.

Have those people read The London Underworld in the Victorian Period: Authentic First-Person Accounts by Beggars, Thieves and Prostitutes.
Also make sure they have no money.
-
@Misadventure That reminds me of a Terry Pratchett quote about a neighborhood in Ankh Morpork which had such a bad reputation 'not even criminals went there'.

When you run into a new player and they start feeling your character's bosoms over pages.
I love it, it's totally rad.
I indulge people with this all the time, especially since 80% of the male character who do this to me are hot muscular studs. I am usually receptive to h all the touchy-feeliness people get up to.
And, yes, a few buoyant and attractive female characters do the same. I recall one woman who immediately grabbed my character's butt-cheeks.

Truly epic scene. Culminating months of buildup in what's been kind of a slow burn personal arc while still being plot impactful. I'm still reeling. I am unable to even.

When you attempt to reach some OOC narrative agreement on some trivial matter, but are ultimately told that since it was never actively roleplayed on-screen that it shouldn't be considered a thing.
Then the same person attempts to get experience points out of you, without fulfilling the basic tenant that there be some form of meaningful interaction with you beyond the briefest of glances from across the room. No conversation, no direct interaction, no slow jack and a ball rub, nothing.
Sorry, I can't just extend XP to you without RP. I'm not comfortable with that. Sweet, sweet justice.
-
@Faceless but you'd rs/validate for a handjob, right??

@saosmash - Every. Damn. Time. Vote too.

I don't even care about XP grabs themselves but they devalue the incentive once they spread out and 'everyone does it'. Then people who don't end up being essentially penalized for it.

Love when you actually feel engaged in a story right off the bat after making a new character. Not having to warm up to the newness, and just going for it.
Also love the legit friends you can make, after wading through all the crazy.
But there is so much damn crazy! It's worth the friendships, though, even just one solid one. I do agree.

I'd like to give a shout out to Callie @ Fate's Harvest. She gave me the best compliment I've had in a while: that my character was interesting and I was a great person to RP with.
I've been doing this shit for over 20 years. I've met some great people; like @Sunny, who I've really liked and I haven't always done right by. I implicitly trust her synopses on things, but, recently, I've doubted her. I shouldn't have done that.
So, lemme tell you who I like a lot.
Many people. On the top of my head, I adore @Autumn in ways that shouldn't be allowed. @SunnyJ is someone that I need to play with everyday. I would gladly buy @Thenomain a beer. @Misadventure challenges me by PM at every turn, and I like that. @hedgehog is totally cool. @Arkandel is a great sport, and I will always wonder what might have been, if we only played Star Wars together more. @lordbelh is the sort of person who, if they told me a system was broken, I would do whatever it took to fix it. While it may seem that I scrap with him a lot, @WTFE is the sort of player that you should really listen to. @Caryatid is the person that I always wanted to be best friends with because she's ultra-wise and I have so much more to learn from her.
I'll go ahead and say it: there are many, many, many good people here. We fight a lot, but I think, as a community, we really need to start recognizing that we're all looking for the same thing: people that we can make stories with.
There are several people I haven't mentioned, to whom I hereby apologize.
If anyone swings by where I live, I would gladly show you the time of your life on my tab. Seriously.
MU Things I love? The people. I'm constantly amazed.

re: Fate's Harvest, Jonah.
It's not often that I get to really play out conflict, where we both know consequences could be wildly negative, but go with it anyway because it's great RP/story.
It all worked out in the end for now, but Iris and Jonah clashing has been a lot of fun.
For a character I just sort of built on whimsy, Iris has been great fun to play and the amount of requests I get to RP kinda surprise me, but also make me feel kinda warm and squishy.
