I may or may not have just caused a riot in the forum for my current course over the bullshit way the TAs have been grading assignments.

I don't know WTF is wrong with my legs. I've NEVER had dry skin issues, beyond needing some lotion now and then in the winter. Right now, my legs itch almost constantly, and I've scratched myself bloody more than once.

Different lotions, creams, moisturizers, and nothing seems to really work. I've cooled down the showers I take, use moisturizing body wash... I just.. I'm so befuddled.

I was in the same situation many years ago. Something would itch. I'd scratch it. A welt would raise, which itched more. I'd scratch it. Welt would get worse and itchier. I'd scratch it. On more than one occasion, I'd scratch until I was bleeding, trying to get it to stop.

Turns out I had dermatographism, which is incredibly common, and usually so mild that a lot of people who have it don't even realize. But because it's ultimately an autoimmune response and I was under a crazy amount of stress, it flared up to that mess.

Obviously check with your doctors, but if it's dermatographism? Yeah, I just take two knock-off Claritin a day. Managed with OTC allergy meds. Totally not a big deal.

ETA: Itch-X is fucking amazing. It's what my allergist uses on people's arms after allergy tests.

For fuck's sake my car doesn't have an extended warranty. whyyyyyy

'Cause you didn't sign up for one when you bought it, I'd guess?

You can add them after the fact, though. You can buy them at a dealership for whatever make your car is.

No I just keep getting that robo-dial about my car's extended warranty, in which there is none. Easily 2x/day at this point.

OH! Yes. I get those, too. I thought you meant some shit went wrong with your car and you were like, "Ugh. Why did I not add coverage beyond the first three years/36,000 miles?" that most manufacturers have.

So insomniac and I stopped to help at the scene of a pretty nasty car accident on our way home.

The driver wasn't wearing his seatbelt. Literally the only reason he didn't go through his windshield, which was crushed up against the guardrail across his entire front end, was because all of his airbags deployed.

      WEAR YOUR FUCKING SEATBELTS, GUYS.

I thought you would all like to know that the Emotional Bleed thread has just inspired me to this out loud:

"Your feelings are valid. Your behavior is not."

      To my cat.

@insomniac7809 left for work and every time he does, Pasha feels the need to sit in my office literally screaming for at least ten minutes. No amount of comforting him will work. No amount of treats or attention will soothe him. Even as I cuddle him and give him snacks, he feels the need to vehemently shout at me about how I am insufficiently my husband.

....Basically I'm in an emotionally abusive relationship with a neurotic nine pound cat.

Like, basically, you just made me squirm in a good way, thank you.

Ohh, I definitely ordered that one. ^_^

I just haven't sniffed it yet because the leaky bottles gave me a bit of a headache as I unpacked things and wiped everything in the package down, so Imma wait and sniff tomorrow.

PS: They have a My Favorite Murder theme perfume named "Here's the Thing, Fuck Everyone" that I really feel would just appeal to pretty much all of the people who post on this board.

@Ganymede They sell perfume and hair/body care products.

I placed an order with them in October during their Halloween sale, which just came in the mail this afternoon. Between when I placed my order and when I received it, they made an announcement on their Facebook page that they'd had an issue with the lids for some of their 5ml perfume oil bottles. Some customers had said they'd leaked during shipping and they would be happy to make it right for anyone who experienced a problem.

Unfortunately, my package was one of the ones that had some leaky bottles, so I emailed them to let them know. That said, they had only partially leaked and this is a small business operating during the pandemic, so I asked if I could get dram replacements (the next size down) for the three leaky ones. Specifically, I asked if they could include them whenever I make my next order so they wouldn't have to eat the cost of shipping out such a small package.

They literally emailed me back seven minutes later offering full size replacements or a store credit for the cost of all of them. Again, small business and I didn't want them to absorb that expense because their supplier messed up, so I asked if I could get a store credit just for the dram sizes, which cost less. They emailed me back in less than four minutes with a gift code that I can now use to top up the perfume that I have or for anything else in the store.

Additional Note: If you go to their "indie marketplace", they also carry products from other small businesses that aren't as well-known. Right now that includes incense, candles, jewelry, shampoo bars, cosmetics (mostly loose powders for eyeshadow/blush and lip balms), tea, skin care, and fragrances from other independent perfumers they're friendly with.

      <blinkies>

I literally just had the best customer service experience of my entire life. If y'all are into indie perfumes, go order from Sucreabeille.

While they have a (well-advertised, multiple warning) turnaround time of up to three weeks? They make good-smelling things, support other indie makers through their marketplace, and are both ridiculously nice and stupidly fast at responding to customers.

We currently don't have water. We haven't had water for about four hours now. And because the city didn't follow their own policies and procedures for emergency shutoffs, we have no idea when it may come back on.

But worse than that, most of our neighborhood has been freaking out on our community app, ignoring the responses posted from those of us who have actually spoken to the utility company. Several of them are already going to the local stores to buy up all the water before we have a shortage like we did with toilet paper and no one can find any!!1!11!omg!!!!

I give it a day before we descend into Mad Max territory.

I just hate the show for its overall treatment of women. Although I think these three words basically sum up why the show is terrible:

      Racist ghost truck.

Yeah, I'm generally super not thrilled about their treatment of women in the show, especially during earlier seasons....

And yet there's also heaps of what's supposed to be Manly Man Men Who Fight Monsters and Wear Flannel and Guns/Cars/Power Tools just, like..... regularly having all the feels at each other? And hugging? And crying sometimes? And nobody in-world is fucking weird at them about it?

      It's.... it's a strange show.

@Tributary said in The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves):

When I took Bupropion in my 20s, I loved how effective it was and hated that it tended to sing-song into my brain, "It's time to kill yourself!"

Now, I'm in my 40s, and I can take it with NO side effects, and it's fantastic.

(I should note, as an ADD person, I do occasionally recommend that people buy themselves a planner to use as a tracker. Not for planning. For journaling things. For keeping track of adulting and health changes, so that when I do talk to my doctors, I can be like, "I had 2 migraine days and 8 depression days in the month of November. I lost 10 pounds and worked as a paid freelancer between 5 and 10 hours a week, plus some spec freelancing. I have an entry where I was unbearably sad because I ran out of apples. Oh, and I had a serious anxiety attack on the 18th, and mild fever on the 9th.")

I have legit recommended bullet-journaling to some people with ADD not to "bE moAr oRganIZed!!1!1!!!", but because if you use the bare bones method of it instead of getting sucked into the Instagrammy art spreads and washi tape and colors.....

Part of the point is scribbling down that random idea, the thing you suddenly remembered, or an observation you had. Not to take you more productive, but so that shit isn't rattling around in your head anymore and neither is the repetitive chorus of "Mustn't forget not to forget the thing I don't want to forget!" It's supposed to be a brain dump in one place so you can unclench your jaw for a friggin' minute.

I actually recommend this video, where she talks about what not to do in a bullet journal over most other content that gets super artsy-fartsy about it. The Instagrammers legit stress me out about my stuff not being pretty enough, at which point the thing that's supposed to be helpful just becomes another to do that overwhelms me.

(lol no jk i watched this trash show for years. but i also haven't watched in several seasons.)

Ohh, I'm well aware that it's trash. But I'm pretty sure they're also well aware that it's trash and just really love making it anyway, which is part of why I love it so damned much.

So I don't know if anyone else here is still watching Supernatural, but the series finale is coming up soon. And unfortunately I'm about half a season behind because I didn't realize that their post-production halt episodes were up on the CW until a few of them had already aged off.

I have to wait until they're on Netflix, which won't be for at least a week after the last episode airs.
