Thank you, helpful tall dudes in the grocery store. My tummy would be an emptier place without you.

Hey, I suffered, too. They traded Simmonds.
Why would you remind me?! Are you trying to ruin my Friday, fucker?

RE: Superstitions
@Ghost You suck. ^_^
(Also, no. I think I caught all of three games this season. The hours at my internship were ass.)

RE: Superstitions
Current ones? No. However, previously? Yes.
There was a season where if I watched the hockey game, my team lost. If I listened to it on the radio, they won. This was an extremely frustrating year.
Also, it rained every Friday my freshman year of college. I don't know why, it just did. Sometimes it was all day. Sometimes it was only a few minutes. Sometimes it was in the middle of the night. But every single Friday. More often than not, my friends and I would be hanging out on the dorm steps and watch a parade of girls who got all dolled up for a frat party stumble home, soaked and shivering. By the end of the first semester, hearing "Bring an umbrella - it's Friday" was not uncommon in my group of ladies.

RE: Concerts & Goth Stuff
@Ghost .....try seeing a 70-something Roger Daltrey/Pete Townsend sing "My Generation" live. At least Townsend has the grace and perspective to burst out laughing about the "hope I die before I get old" line.

@Aria I was being a goof, sorry about that, I figured you meant 80s Vandals. The other ones are the British Vandals (70s punk with Ali Moyet on vocals). But they might be more obscure, in the vein of Beastie Boys starting as a punk/thrash outfit before busting rhymes.
Ohh! Derp. Yes, I know both bands. I thought you were referring to their lineup changes. Like.... I have seen Danzig. I have seen the Misfits. I have NOT seen Danzig with the Misfits, and that makes a difference to people.

I probably wouldn't have stayed to see us after the Vandals!
Depends which Vandals was playing ...
Dave Quackenbush was on vocals, if that's what you mean. It was back in 2014 and they were touring with Pennywise and Bad Religion for a four-band show. I missed the pit, though, 'cause that was the summer I had a cast on my foot.

Boom.
@Aria I actually passed on GnR despite being a fan (which I think means liking Appetite, Lies, and half of the 2 Illusion albums). The stuff Slash has been up to with Myles Kennedy I think is so much better, and I kinda wished they just hired Myles as GnR's new lead singer.
Everyone that went says it was great, though. So maybe I did miss out.
I saw them twice on the "Not in This Lifetime Tour". The first time was at an outdoor stadium during a horrendous summer heat wave. Like.... we spent more money on water than on merch in an effort not to pass out. Axl literally changed his shirt between every single song. By the time we got back to our car at 1AM, it had dropped to being only 98 degrees in the parking lot. I was (physically) miserable the entire time.
And we still had enough fun that I bought tickets on their second stop. I think I heard he might be touring with AC/DC again? I dunno. I didn't see that tour, but I want to. Sadly, we're not going to many concerts this year because weddings are fucking expensive. >:-{

@Aria I am getting hit with a lot of stuff from that campaign as well, but in fairness I was a delegate/helped out locally as well, so I assumed they were just blasting out through all of the information/lists they already had. But I am also getting stuff from Harris and O'Rourke. Interestingly not from anyone else but those three, even though I know that all of the campaigns have access to me in votebuilder and other sources!
My opinions on various candidates set completely aside, I'm mostly annoyed that they've found yet another way to spam me with endless requests for money.

I am already getting automated texts for the 2020 presidential campaign.
Fuuuuuuuck you.

Well, at least some part of the Flyers organization will be doing something when the regular season ends.
Bite me.

HOLY SHIT, YOU CAN INVITE GRITTY TO YOUR WEDDING.

Jesus Christ, now I'm crying.
Gany, I am so, so, so sorry. It aches to lose a dear friend, and I know that feeling of barely contained frustration/hysteria about not being able to do anything to help quite well. Except for what you're doing. It really is a kindness to take on the pain of ending his. This is doing everything you can for him, even if it doesn't feel that way right now.

Also men's business wear just has more layers and is overall warmer and the thermostat is generally set in deference to that.
I would wear fewer layers if I could, but whatcha gonna do.
You can have the skirts/dresses WITH NO POCKETS if you want.
I'm sure us ladies would be glad for the pants WITH POCKETS and the jackets WITH POCKETS.
Girl, eShakti. All the dresses have pockets. ALL OF THEM.

@Ghost I dunno, I think she picked the deceptive hardcore mode. IIRC, the family wanted a big church wedding and reception, hundreds of guests type wedding. So the guilt-tripping is real.
Not quite. Hundreds of guests (probably 200-230ish if his mom's whole family came) and not exactly a church wedding (despite my mom's massive "But people are expecting <xyz formal, old-fashioned, expensive thing she isn't paying for>" guilt-trip), but close enough. And instead of doing either of those and shelling out $40K like the average traditional wedding costs in my East Coast city, I get to go "Hahaha, motherfuckers, my wedding dress was $63 including shipping."
Anyone who continues saying that we should totally do this other super expensive thing we have no interest in is promptly met with wide-eyed excitement as I announce, "Wow! That's such a great idea. And an incredibly generous wedding gift! Thank you so much for doing that for us."
Here is an actual, real-life picture of someone who is totally me walking away from wedding planning conversations.

RE: RL things I love
While these are all SUPER ENTERTAINING ideas, I'm getting married at City Hall.
I think there may be some problems with this "wedding gun" plan, specifically the numbers of cops on site at all times.

RE: RL Anger
A friend on Facebook: "White Irish immigrant slaves were treated worse than any other ethnic group in American history, and you don't see them asking for reparations..."
Really?
I mean, really?
ETA: I'm not entirely sure that I have the willpower to address that gently. I told her that Irish immigrants were indentured servitude and had rights, unlike chattel slavery, but if it turns into an argument, I dont know if I can keep Jim Halpert WTF from turning into...
This was actually a common argument used in the pre-Civil War north in order to dampen what had historically been a very strong anti-slavery sentiment among the Irish in the New World. Effectively, they were sold membership in the newly made up club of "whiteness" in order to get them to STFU and still let slavers count black people as farm equipment. **
Spoiler Alert: It worked.
Double Spoiler: This means your friend is not only spewing racist shit, she's spewing two hundred year old racist shit. At least come up with something new and exciting, like the Irish once ruled the world until the aliens came and made Barack Obama president and that's also how we got all our Civil War artifacts that didn't exist until 2008. (You didn't just imagine them in school. Those are memory plants from the aliens.)
MUFON and casual internet racism combined! Look, Ghost, I'm helping by combining all your friends' hobbies into one.
**Source: The entity of Ignatiev's "How the Irish Became White", which is incredibly fascinating but was written as a text largely used by graduate students in history programs, so it's really, really dry.

RE: RL Anger
@Ghost Ohh, WOW. That's, like, a train-wreck of amazing insanity. And I really do mean that in the best possible way. It's getting harder and harder to find any good conspiracy theorist nutjobs to slurp delicious schadenfreude from these days because post-recession, you can't really tell who is legitimately going on deranged rants about international bankers and who is just waving a giant red flag of anti-Semitic bullshit that they can fuck off with.
