Geist and Demon can fight it out for which of its meta-settings are more obnoxious because when they're included on a multi-genre game, you can't seem to ignore them.
I dunno if I missed it in all the image spam, but did you ever explain what @Misadventure asked? How does Geist intrude on the meta-settings?
One of the (many) things about Geist I like is that it's very easy to add onto any other spheres since it has very little metaplot of its own in terms of cosmology and world-building. Basically it says "there's an Underworld, somewhere, where dead people usually go unless they don't" and that's almost about it.
Hell, you could probably gut the Underworld out of the game entirely and it'd still function with some patching.

RE: Outline of a possible MUSH
I may be biased because of my own exposure but the more well known a system is, the easier you make it on people to come and start playing without learning new stuff, the more players you can get.
Am I saying having 'more players' is a good thing 100% of the time? No. But I am saying having too few players is a bad thing 100% of the time.
Use WoD, D&D, Pathfinder... something big and well known. Then promote among those who'd know it.

I am allowed to hate Renner as much as I choose.
Well, of course you're allowed, this is the internet after all.
But it's one thing to say "I hate @HelloRaptor" (because let's face it, it's a natural reaction) and another to say "@HelloRaptor is a canibal". One is a sentiment that doesn't need to be rational but the other presents as a fact that he's acquired a taste for human flesh.
'There's a rumor' just makes people like me ask you to back it up, and if you can't, call you on it. I think that's reasonable.

RE: X-Cards
@Bad-at-Lurking If you look at it from a historical perspective it makes more sense. When MU* started spawning all over the place (and back then there were next to zero other options for multiplayer online gaming at all) each was completely, 100% ruled by the person who owned the server. They could do whatever they wanted, each MU* was its own island and word of mouth was next to impossible - you'd get banned if you annoyed the admin and then that's that.
Not that we're in the clear these days but perhaps there's a bit more accountability and visibility. Plus we simply have more history to show (and learn from), examples to bring up, there's more substance to potential complaints than there used to be.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Three-Eyed-Crow You are not an adult until a kid calls you sir/ma'am. Then you are forever old.
Trivia: In Greek it's worse because they don't even need to go that far. You defer to your elders by using the 'plural' form of "you". So all it takes is a cashier saying "thank you" like that and - blamo! You're done for.

RE: X-Cards
- Asking the X-Card player to leave the game due to discomfort is contradictory to the spirit of adopting the X-card "mission statement".
That has been the default answer since the 80s. "If you don't like it then don't play here".
It fixes nothing.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Derp It is polite in general (say, if you're referring to a stranger) as it's a way of showing respect. So kids are always supposed to refer to their elders that way.

RE: X-Cards
@surreality I agree, but I think it's as important to not only look for extreme scenarios here. The bar doesn't need to be quite that high - it shouldn't be a show stopper only when someone in a scene busts out the puppy-killing- or gang-rape-as-plot-device.
I mean Theno has a point in that there ought to be a discussion if something somewhat more minor or banal should spark at least some debate but... am I really sacrificing my character's sacrosanct portraying integrity by making the fact he carries a putrid stench not quite the focus of several of my poses if it's putting someone off? Maybe it rained outside on the way over and he got an impromptu shower it for that one session, so I can just not say anything when an X-Card is played.
Not everything has to be nitpicked, yet a minor issue for one person can be a major one for another.

RE: RL things I love
@ThatGuyThere I like 5 Guys, and its fries are very good, but it's expensive for what it gives you. They're still a fast food chain, you're eating a fast food burger, yet it's priced as a restaurant one.

I'd probably also fucking do away with this "no real society" bullshit. It's annoying as fuck and uncohesive, and while it probably works okay in tabletop, it makes MUs a pain in the ass. I would keep the societies philosophical in nature and with plenty of room for interpretation, and try to allow for them to be able to intersect within a Krewe, while leaving the Krewes to make their own Mythos just as much as they can in Geist 1e.
Frankly, this is one of the things that drew me to Geist in the first place. None of that hierarchical crap that poisons MU* communities by drawing a certain type of player to them; the lack of internal cohesion makes Sin-Eaters the nWoD chameleons; they fit literally anywhere they see fit, with no internal Masquerade, no burdening overreaching metaplot to haunt (heh!) them. Instead they are each free to do as they will and find common themes within individual Krewes if they so desire it.
While I agree with some of your points on mechanics I much like this one as-is for the game itself.

@VulgarKitten Being on your FB I think I've seen your mom on there. So she's, y'know, on it. That sounds like a mom-guilt trip, the kind they are very well versed at!

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Ganymede Ah, if we're going for inspirational slogans then this is my favorite.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
Robert A. Heinlein made a damn good argument there. It's one of my all-time pet peeves when I pick up zealotry, and it happens a lot; my sister's yoga instructor scoffs at any other discipline, gym-bros of course swear by how much iron they can move around exclusively, runners only run, cyclists only cycle and so on.
There's no reason for any of that crap. People should do whatever it is that gets them off the couch and that's it; for example I find treadmills dreadfully boring but I can walk or hike for hours just because it's how I'm wired. Some folks like the social aspect of taking classes and revel in pilates or the such but others want things to be more under their control (if I want to go to the gym at 6 am I can).
What matters in the end is being more content and in better health. I want to lift but I also want to run up and down a full basketball court without my lungs giving out. I want to be flexible and not feel like my hip hinge is made of rusty iron, and be confident I can pick a pencil from the floor without my lower back's nerves simultaneously exploding. And yes, I want to look good without a shirt on.
All of those things are important to me, not just one of them. But also any one of them is better than vegging out in front of the TV.

RE: RL things I love
Two-plate deadlifts for reps.
Now, that doesn't mean they won't still kill me at some point in the (near) future. Or that @Ganymede won't go "I TOLD YOU SO".
It does mean before I died I pulled two-plates for reps from the floor.

RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?
@RDC That's fine, but can we keep things vaguely on-topic in this thread please? There are better places to specifically discuss and criticize games.
