@Coin That's the exception that confirms the rule. That woman by the way is really stupid - what she did was actually illegal on top of everything else. How insecure do you need to be to do that?

      Overheard locker room gym chat.

"I don't get why people don't come work out 'cause they think they're gonna be judged. Unless you're a hot girl, lift a ton of weight or smell bad no one knows you exist."

It's true! Most folks around me are mentally classified as 'person currently using the squat rack' or 'person waiting for the squat rack'. The rest are background noise. Sometimes I exchange manly nods with guys whose faces I kinda recognize but whose names I of course neither know nor care to.

@Insomnia Apparently before a server reboot (I was at work and didn't experience it) people could transmog their weapons into shoulder pieces (!) and the such.

Then again having seen the size of those shoulders, I'd think they'd make for some excellent bludgeon weaponry - some of them can be pretty stabby, too.

I just don't see the problem with saying 'no' politely. Cashiers over here routinely ask if I'd like to donate money to $corporateCause which is just there to give the company a better tax break and I automatically decline. It's not a big deal at all, it's not like the person behind the counter cares... they are just obligated to ask.

@dontpanda I suppose it's because both are important, but we can do more about smaller - but still important - things around us than much more critical things halfway across the globe.

For example when I first moved to Canada the concerns here over how animals are treated seemed less warranted than in southern Europe; sure, people don't always spay their pets so that many end up having to be euthanized in shelters to make room for others but compared to having thousands of strays around with literally no one looking after them, often starving to death or getting hit by cars it's a lesser problem, right? ... but not so to that little mutt in the shelter right now. The one I can go adopt right now and whose life literally save - I can't do anything about thousands of others across the ocean but I can rescue this one.

The same thing applies to all kinds of human rights violations. Obviously in the western world things are better but they weren't always better; people had to struggle, fight and not give up to bring them to the point they are now. It's not like because we generally treat each other better than throwing them off roofs it's time to say 'mission accomplished' and sit back - we're still shitty people and we'll do shitty things if left to our own devices or stop being outraged by the fact.

The scale might change but the shit still smells the same, you know what I mean?

@Arkandel @ThatGuyThere Agreed with Ark. Lying to strangers instead of saying 'no' is strange.

But, ahem, I have no illusions of privacy. Someone's tracking me. I trust Nintendo more than the US Government!

I don't always mind being tracked, it's just that I want the tradeoff to be substantial.

For instance I am well aware that for Google I'm the product. I know the nature of the business - they get some of my private data which they can use to make money, but in exchange I get Gmail and Maps and Docs. Those products are not free; I pay for them by being tracked.

When I go to Sears and the cashier is required to ask for my address I basically get nothing. At best it'll be a tiny discount from my next purchase (which I'll never remember to use) once. It's not enough, if you know what I mean.

Oh, and there were apparently some glitches here and there. Minor things no one would notice, such as this:

For example I have lied for decades to the check out people at various stores when they ask for an e-mail address. (My answer always is I don't have one, when I actually do but that is the most polite way to dodge giving it to them.)

      Why is 'no' impolite?

The minimum wage cashier doesn't care whether they get your e-mail address or not. I see the shortcut, but it's good to send the correct message ('it's none of your corporation's business to be able to contact me outside of this routine transaction') than the wrong one ('it's just that not everyone has an e-mail address').

Yesterday was a mixed bag for me.

On one hand.. the awesomeness of global transmogs! I spent like an hour retooling my characters a bit (with way more of the same to come, I might actually go out and farm more old raids now) just because I could. I'm also quite fond of the reduced toolsets per spec, some classes were getting noticeably heavier on the micromanagement side even with Weakauras to point out what had to be maintained.

On the other hand, where did my Mistweaver's mana go? 😞 I'm leveling a new one for da Horde (97-98 last night) and doing PUGs was a nightmare. Randoms do stupid things, they step in bad - monks aren't too bad at healing on the go but they aren't the best either - and then I had to burst-heal which just burned through my mana pool like no one's business... I went through 8-9 waters in one Skyreach which is insane, the day before I was doing the same instance without going under 60% mana once.

I'll try queuing as a Brewmaster tonight. Monk tanks are very skill based, speaking as a healer a good one is nearly impossible to kill but a bad one is basically a rogue trying to tank... and I don't wanna be the latter for some hapless person just trying to keep up with me. 🙂

Well. I met him through my cousin two weeks ago. We chatted about possibly going out on a date. He texted me 'hi' last week, to which I responded 'hey'. And then yesterday he sent me a clip of him masturbating.

And they say romance is dead.

@Misadventure Not to be the cynic here but almost everyone will claim they are super mature about this kind of thing until it actually happens. At least I've never actually met anyone who openly admitted they are a big baby when they stand to lose.

Suggestion: Make the Mentor/specialized Library merits mean something by allowing them to factor in for this.

Also, making it clear how it works for PC-to-PC teaching.

Since this is the Fallen World thread maybe we should wait and see how the MU* will specifically handle Rotes?

It doesn't really make me angry (I don't mind/care) but the two otherwise perfectly nice and polite ladies at my gym who come over and never do anything that requires, well, a gym. They bring their own elastic bands and do stretches, they use benches only to lean against while they do bodyweight exercises - a chair would do just fine in the exact same manner - and although they utilize the mirror a lot surely there are reflecting surfaces at their homes, too?

It just seems weird to pay $$ for the privilege. Oh, they warm up I guess on the cycles, that's something.
