It's been said that decorative lawn gnomes are actually redcaps employed by Home Owner's Associations. They go forth into the night, measuring the length of your grass by the centimeter and making certain that your hedges are perfectly clipped within regulations. Turn off your doorbell cameras at dusk and avoid their ire by painting your front door the appropriate shade of blue. They seek any opportunity to redden their caps and love to fill the coffers of their masters with estate sale riches.

Clearly the same HOA as described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/comments/bmqi90/my_new_house_has_really_strange_home_owners/

I already know I will regret asking, but...

      Homie Bear Slices?

Well, apparently only hours before I met her, she was trying to think of a name for fans of her stream. Someone suggested Homie G Slices, and someone explained that the G was for gangster.

She thought it sounded too violent and scary, so she decided against what I can assume was literally everyone's better judgment, that her fans are now called Homie Bear Slices, because she likes bears.

That is... not as terrifying as I feared, but still pretty terrifying.

I mean, I'd be out just because of the algebra aspect.

      Why even.

That said...... I'm someone who actually prefers the dice rolling and combat of D&D. MUing I prefer rp but put dice in my hands and I wanna use them as much as possible. (I also get very anxious trying to role play in person).....but I would usually try to be flexible with games that didn't meet my personal preference so long as I enjoyed the company.

    • RE: Most active scifi games right now?

Honestly, space simulator is what made me interested in Evennia in the first place. I knew HSpace very well (I know the guide I wrote for Serenity MUSH pre-wikis was passed around long after I stopped playing, even). I love space systems on MU*s.

I began (before I got super busy with school when I began hitting 300/400 level classes) learning python... to perhaps help build space stuff for Evennia. So, uh, I'd be all about helping break shit for such a project. >.>

But there's a reason I've been obsessing over Elite Dangerous as of late.

@Auspice Yanno what holiday I like? Boxing Day.

The holiday where everyone who fucking worked on Christmas gets a day because we needed them on Xmas.

America should have a "Labor Day Two" for those people.

They'd just turn it into another sale day and make people work anyway.

I'm glad to hear Carnival Row doesn't lean hard into the steampunk stuff. I'm not at all a steampunk fan, but the rest of the concept sounds really cool.

I think this is why I love the Old Republic era. While there's "big heroes", there's a lot of room for original characters.

I love the Old Republic era for so many reasons.

It was just goddamn epic and glorious.

      I'm reading.

And oh, I feel the part about task organization (page 10). At work they want me to give a timeline for completion on something. They want to know what parts will be done when and......... how? how am I supposed to do that? I don't have elements I need from other people/departments. I'm not working on it in a linear fashion. I work on piece f until I'm drifting so I work on piece q until it reminds me of piece c until....

how do I give a timeline for that?

    • RE: Star Wars?

I would play the hell out of an Old Republic era game.

People wanna play Force Users. Period. Full stop.

The issue with most SW games that have ever been is the whole 'hurr hurr only Staff / Staff BFFs / people who pass the ridiculously high bar get to be Force Users'

no seriously just let people play Force Users.
just like Pern games had to learn that PEOPLE WANT TO RIDE DARGONS LET THEM RIDE DARGONS*

I mean sure some of us will play other things too (I had an amazing pilot of a smuggling ship on an SW game back in the day and we got embroiled in the thick of a plot between light and dark side and it was kind of great), but still.

Let us be all fwooosh-fwoosh with our sabers and throw things with our brains.

and let me play my Miraluka gray 😞 😞 😞 I barely scratched the surface with a story with her HI @KDraygo I SEE YOU LURKING TODAY

How fun and supportive the ladies I'm doing this stitchalong with are is my favorite thing right now.

They encouraged me to go out this evening to plan our big group project for one of the challenges and we had about twelve of us there.

After spending nearly two years barely socializing with anyone (as in maybe once a month I'd go out....if that), it's been really rewarding.

I'm also in the boat where Grey Harbor just wasn't my 'thing'. Which is a shame since I think the people working on it are doing a great job!

But I will say that Stargate is still on our planned timeline and will be open sooner than later. We've been on target. 🙂 So that will soon be an option for people as well.

    • RE: Map Making Skills

Long years ago I went down the rabbit hole of learning how to make maps, from scratch using the Saderan tutorial from the Cartographer's Guild forum.

      alt text

was as far as I got after hours of tweaking and fiddling and fussing around.
It can be obsessive work. 😉

But the Saderan tutorial is a lot of fun. It's on this page (along with a ton of others).

If anyone is interested I actually tracked each stage up to the above.

      Stage Two
      Stage Three
