The following are on Hulu:
Stargate (the 1994 film, which is where our game branches off)
Stargate SG-1
Stargate Atlantis
Stargate Universe
So for anyone unfamiliar (or needing a refresher course!) with the setting, you can binge your heart out.
@RDC
...can I get a tl;dr for the tl;dr?
@Seamus said in What's your monitor setup?:
I have 6 monitors at home and 3 at work. So I use my bottom middle monitor as my primary.
My vampeer is also approved now. I'll get my WoD legs back slowly.
VampChurch is mandatory. Except for those weird Crones.
Two times a year, roughly, my ADHD goes into a sort of hyperdrive.
I lose all function as a human being.
I sometimes struggle to process entire paragraphs because I lose the thread halfway through. I pause a 5 minute youtube video to go watch a 3 minute youtube video to go watch a twitch stream to mute it to go back to the minute to pause it to read a news article to go watch Netflix to tune it out to open Hulu to realize, five seconds later, that both are running at once on two separate monitors.
I read texts and never reply.
Sounds, flashing notifications, all upset me and irk me.
I forget I'm in a scene two poses in.
I make to-do lists with reminders, but the instant I see the reminder... I forget.
I can go twelve hours without eating because every time I go to the kitchen, I get distracted on the way and do something else.
The only upside to it all is that my need to keep my house and living areas at least somewhat clean and organized go into hibernation because the only thing, literally the only thing I can manage, is to take care of my cats. They are fed. They are watered. Their litter box is clean.
I've had a sandwich today.
I've had water.
I ate some chips and salsa tonight.
I never managed to figure out dinner.
Maybe tomorrow will be better.
Maybe tomorrow my brain will stop firing on every cylinder all the time nonstop and I can get something of consequence done and feel normal.
The Network is an episodic multi-themed game with an underlying meta plot set in an alternate universe modern day world where The Network, a massive multimedia conglomerate provides only the finest quality programming to audiences around the globe and beyond.
You do not know who you were before you signed your contract with The Network. All you know is that you signed over your past life, your memories, the experiences that made you who you are for a set period of time during which you have agreed to perform as an actor in whichever programs The Network deems a best fit for you. You have been relocated to a closed, secure community, where you reside with other actors all going through the same shared experience. You are given everything you need for a comfortable life within the dome and are guaranteed a very generous sum of money for your tenure as an employee of The Network. Of course, you were not entirely informed of what that entails, exactly.
Characters on The Network create an actor who lives within this secure community who, each new season, is completely and wholly immersed in the life and personality of a character within that season's show. One season, they may find themselves in Valhalla fighting to prevent Ragnarök. Another season, they may find themselves as a conservationist working in an undersea laboratory. Each season is a new story (or a return to a popular season if the players vote to bring one back for another round) with new goals and new adventures.
Only on returning to the dome after each season, do they regain the cumulative memory of themselves as an actor, and each season that they experienced. There, they try to make sense of the ever-growing number of lives that they accumulate.
The Network is now in Open Beta and we welcome new players to join us.

b) reliant
c) portable
The last one I bought was A and C, but not B.
ETA) Shit all you want on me in the other thread for HAVING an iPad, but it was a gift and hey, free things are awesome.

I think the types I'm kinda referring to are the 'I'm so pretty. My powers revolve around how pretty and charismatic I am. I have fifteen boyfriends and girlfriends. My template is very obnoxious. Also I'm very random! Insert GIF here!' I hope that gives you a better example.
Oh. Yeah, that happens. Fallcoast's house rules specifically make it cheaper to be The Sexiest One Of Them All, so it's a little more pronounced here than a lot of places. I have too much sympathy to judge; it's hard to not wish you were one of the beautiful people.

I had the audacity to take a few days off of work this week! One of my customers took this less well than I hoped and so upon returning to the office I was treated to an ANGRY EMAIL. I will provide an excerpt!
"I'll leave you with this. I hope your partner drops dead and while you attend their funeral, I hope your house catches fire and everything in it is razed to the ground so scum like you can know what it feels like to be in a state of unending turmoil and distress because bastards like you deserve it."
So yeah, that eased me nicely back into the swing of things.
oof.
My sister apparently, while putting air in her tire, had a guy approach her.
'Hey, need help?'
Sister: 'Nope, I'm good.'
Guy kept approaching, telling her how to put air in, insisting he could do it.
Sister: 'Please stay back. I'm fine. I'm not comfortable right now, go away.' (esp. because this was AT NIGHT.)
Guy: 'FINE. I hope your tire fucking EXPLODES on you and you WISH you'd let me help!'
people are fucking fucked up.
I just wanted to note (since I know some folks have been missing Space Gamez) that the space system is now in place on the game.
First session with new therapist today. We discussed poss. triggers for these major ADHD episodes where my function breaks down.
She asked if I had them before the trauma event (surgery) for my PTSD. I... did not. And I'd never even considered if that could've been a, y'know, thing.
But apparently, sometimes, ADHD can be tied to that kind of thing as part of that uh, flight/anxiety mode? so I guess it's time for 'let's delve into fixing Auspice's trauma'

I think I know the game you're talking about. I've known people involved and I know a lot of them wanted it to work (I was currently Not-MUSHing when it was going on).Yeah, it certainly wasn't for lack of trying. Very much the wrong time, but I've come to the conclusion it probably wasn't a workable theme for a public game long-term anyway. At least, not in the way I'd like that theme to exist. There are compromises you could make with how the pairs function to make it more workable but, meh.
It's really along the same lines as to why something like Sense8, Orphan Black, and other settings that are very focused on core people don't work. It's basically either play a pairing (and hope your partner doesn't disappear on you) or just be 'supporter #1939.' Playing support chars is good, but everyone should also have a chance to have a 'hero' char, too.
Echoing others... I know for a fact what Roz said above. Heck, I left a game once because female players of gay male characters were harassing me for playing a straight male character (I'm female and bi, IRL).
If the place allowed female chars, I'd potentially check it out. But yeah, the whole of it just feels like it's meant to fetishize, not be a haven.
I just learned that the Colombian national sport involves throwing metal disks at gunpower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqKzt0XbWQk
........I'm just waiting for this to make its way to the US. I want it now.
"Whenever you explode them, you just yell and drink."
Perfect.
My personal issue was the fact that the game felt, from the initial post, as if it was being put out there as 'a haven for the LGBT community.' Based on wording, that was the message that got across.
And it's not. It's a haven for a particular portion of the LGBT community, but it's not a haven for the community. And I think that's where a lot of us felt slighted.
Especially when people go on to say 'Well, games used to not treat you well if you played a normally-straight character as bi or gay, so this place got made!' No, it got made for that particular portion of the LGBT community, not those who felt ostracized or out of place on the whole. It's basically a safe room where the advertisements go 'We know you all feel out of place! We know you want somewhere safe to go!' and then you get to the door and it's a checklist and 'Oh, oops, you don't meet the requirements for our safe room.'
I get what the aim of the game is. I'm fine with it. I'm not fine with people claiming it as an LGBT haven or as an 'answer' to feeling uncomfortable playing gay/bi characters on other superhero games since it cuts out half of those characters.
