Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is 25% on Steam right now.

This is the game you need.

It's so good. I need to finish it.

A classic opening line, Auspice! I almost went with it, but I didn't feel I had anything strong enough to say. I really like the paragraph's first sentence in run-on breathless fashion, followed by the abruptness of the second sentence. They're lovely together.

Thank you. Figured while I was sitting and waiting to be seen at the clinic, I'd give it a shot. 🙂

      1. Shopping: Write about your shopping wishlist and how you like to spend money.

They say money doesn't bring happiness.

It may not bring happiness wrapped in sparkling paper topped in a neat bow or a gift bag bursting with zigzag-cut pieces of confetti and a neatly penned note card from a dear friend, but money brings other things. Money brings relief. Money brings an easement to worry and concern. Money brings another month of warmth and shelter. Money brings a late night surprise of food that leads to laughter and bonding. Money is the plastic card or crumpled slip of colored paper that passes hands before two bright faces pass into a dark auditorium to see their dreams upon a two-story screen only to talk about it for hours over cups of coffee gone cold.

Money doesn't bring happiness, but she is the fuel in the vehicle. She is the guiding hand at the wheel. Money is the lubrication in the gears.

Atlassian passed. They liked me, but as I was concerned about... my database knowledge was too rusty. So I'll keep an eye on any openings they may have that would be a better fit.

      Ah well.

I'm currently at urgent care for my hand. At least it's not pulling a car at the shop and is at least in a fair bit of pain today (don't you hate when that happens? You finally go to the doctor for something and it feels better that day so you feel like a dolt?).

In going over my Humble Bundle stuff (from back when I had more money and could actually buy bundles / subscribe to the monthly), I've got a few duplicate keys (or so it seems) if anyone wants:

      World of Goo
      Type:Rider
      The Swapper
      DiRT Rally
      Bastion
      A Virus Named TOM

PM me if you want one. I'll cross 'em off as they're claimed.

I'm guessing it was one of you (it didn't list a name!) who sent me the bundle. ❤ thank you.

I'm collecting things so that once I finish this degree, I can sit down and begin the programming venture and Python is where I've decided to begin. My Ideas re: MU*ing are just the toys I've decided to begin with to keep my ADD brain focused and engaged. 🙂

But it's a fantastic price for having reference material on hand.

I'm just a little dubious on the value of that reference material. It's highly specific stuff ... Learning Robotics. Raspberry Pi. Data Analysis. Networking. These are not general-purpose topics that are going to come up in most projects.

If it's right for you it's right for you. You would know that better! I was just making a general comment about the contents of the package as it relates to game programming.

Well, game programming would be a start. Raspberry Pi is something else I've want to toy with, down the road.

And I have a few friends who have been pushing at me to join them in the land of developing as a career. So if Python works well for me; game programming is a sort of 'entry' as in 'hey this interests me and it'll keep me hooked in from the start,' but the rest may keep me going to get me the leg up I'd need to polish it into something stronger.

EDIT: What I was always told is the best way to learn is to find something that interests you and focus on it for a while. So that's where I'm beginning.

Humble Bundle has a Python Bundle

Aww, shit. The deal goes away right before I get paid again. Sonuva.

Those are not "Python for beginners" books. I'd give it a hard pass if your goal is to learn Python for Evennia or the like.

Codeschool has a level 1 course for free, and you can probably get through the other levels in one month ($30). I've done a number of their courses and they're awesome. They also have Ruby for folks wanting to learn that for Ares.

There's also the free official tutorial. No bells and whistles but it'll get you what you need.

CodeAcademy is also free. Haven't used it.

Udemy is having a crazy New Year's sale ($10 for 100 lectures and lots of video) but I can't vouch for the quality.

      I'm sure there are others.

Well! I'd want them on hand. I have https://www.amazon.com/Learn-Python-Visually-Ivelin-Demirov/dp/1507727070 (I backed his Kickstarter). I also have this collection of books, some of which are general 'learn to program,' some of which are other languages (there's at least one Python book in there). I do have a beginner's course on Udemy, also.

So it'd be more 'for down the road.' Like, I'm not looking at that Bundle for 'this is where I want to begin.' I already have those! But it's a fantastic price for having reference material on hand.

@auspice That sucks. If I wasn't locked out of my job still awaiting a password change, I would gift it to you.

      BOOO @time!

Yeah, based on their clock, the deal would expire about 2-3 hours before the window my paycheck usually hits my bank account.

Like, I'm almost tempted to email them and be like, 'Hey, can y'all add just like, 5 hours to that deal? Please?' 😄

Haven't watched it yet. A friend is raving about it, and I like the Runaways comics.

You should. It's not the same as the comics and at first I was a bit antsy about that. But... I'm a lot more okay with it now (and the Stan Lee cameo made me giggle). Sit down and watch it. I like the comics, too.

I was a bit hesitant about Hulu getting a Marvel show (I mean, Netflix has been the hard hitter on Marvel stuff, y'know?), esp. my favorite Marvel imprint... But it's good, so far.

You really need to do a lot of adjustments if you want to use KB/M. But you are better off getting a dual flight stick set up and mix that with your KB/M usage. And as Auspice pointed out there are voice command options that you can get, which make things a lot easier and quite a bit of fun.

I'm looking for a new backpack - duffel bags are nice, but my new gym is a 45 minute walk away, and I do like to occasionally walk there when the weather isn't fucking freezing as it is now, but diagonally straps are annoying over somewhat longer distances.

Does anyone have any recommendations? It needs to be spacious since it'd need to fit my shoes and belt, and I'd rather not pay triple digits for a freakin' bag.

I will go on to say that a month into the Under Armor bag I got on Faraday and Ghosts suggestions which would probably fit your needs, it's been good. I carry my laptop (15" Macbook), lunch, sometimes a hoodie, and various other things. I could do a "what's in Auspice's bag" photo if you'd like. I think it was about $45 when I got it off Amazon. I walk about 2-3 miles + bus with it 5 days a week.
