@Arkandel Since the 13 year old doesn't have a phone right now, he has no account with which to play Pokemon. Hence the threat to give it to him.

@Auspice Look at my post, hun. Second sentence. Both boys are teenagers, and thus do not require parental controlled accounts. 😉

      It's been a long week. 😉

      I've gotten a couple Squirtles.
One Charmander (in the wild, another in an egg, and then my Starter).

Never seen a Bulbasaur or Pikachu tho.

@Miss-Demeanor Although I commend the strategy, don't they have separate accounts with their own Pokemon on each? 🙂

Well, considering that PTC (versus Google) accounts, which are required for under-13 are controlled by a parental account?

It belongs to who she says it belongs to. 😉

    • RE: No Man's Sky Thread

In my first 'play' of the game (I restarted because I screwed some things up), I left my starter planet asap... because I had the ill luck of being on an extreme planet.

On my second play, the starter planet was just so bereft of minerals and shit that I left. But the 2nd planet? I'm staying there for a while. SO MUCH GOLD AND PLUTONIUM.

@Auspice Abra was weird for me. For some reason every time it'd escape and poof after the first catch - I never got a second shot at it.

Then I caught it once, followed by like five more catches within a couple of weeks.

That's emulating the fact that in the Pokemon games, you get one shot at Abra before it runs. In most games, the only way to catch one is to put it to sleep turn 1 and then catch it.

    • RE: Mostly Mage, Partially Descent Mux

My primary experience with Mages on multi-sphere games are either:
'Let me come in and rule the plot and look how amazing I am.' / (if Staff) 'I am going to flood this +request with so many different ways that I am trying to bend/break the rules and hoping you don't notice so I can solve this plot thing in one fell swoop LIKE A GOD'

      or

      'IT'S NOT FAIR THAT I CAN'T <insert thing that's rightfully unique to another splat>'

Sure, I've known good Mage players. But so many are just outright dicks that I just don't like it multi-sphere. Tabletop, yeah. Mage-only MU*? Sure. But on multi-sphere... sorry, annoying assholes have ruined it for me.

So I kept skipping this thread because 'I don't collect anything'

... but as I'm packing to move, I came across my box with 70+ decks of cards and then remembered the others strewn about.

      Oops.

So, yeah. I collect playing cards.

I must confess with my new monster rig , I am intrigued. It sounds like a souped version of Elite.

      Is it on steam?

      It is on Steam.

And as someone who has Elite and got angry at trying to play it without a HOTAS... I really like 'piloting' in No Man's Sky.

    • RE: Mostly Mage, Partially Descent Mux

Well, the other big issue of Mage on MU*s and why they're able to be so 'overpowered'... I have yet to see a multi-sphere place that even takes Paradox into consideration. Or enforces it if they claim to.

So their biggest drawback, on many games, just doesn't even exist.

But NMS, at its core, advertised as a single-person exploration game. I think a lot of these people saw it as a "replacement" for Star Citizen or EVE. Because for all the people who don't like it (and claim Hello Games lied), I know just as many people like me who got exactly what they wanted.

NMS is exactly what I expected, and exactly what I wanted.

I am very happy I don't have to put up with 13-year-old mongs. Or any other fucking idiots I've bumped into while playing games on the Internet.

I mean, you guys not included. Honest.

(Not all of you, at least.)

      Right?
Now, an instanced/server multiplayer, where I could control who I play with? That'd be cool.

But I enjoy that I get to play this massive space game and not constantly be dealing with griefers.

I'm intrigued by the setting... but I have no desire to play Vampire, Werewolf, or Mage right now. 😕

(And I'll admit to being kinda special snowflake in that playing only Mortal PCs bores me to tears)

I am fairly sure there are some comedy specials by women comedians addressing just that topic. Perhaps your teen friend should do some research.

Funny enough (knowing the situation in question), that's what set the whole discussion off. One such video that was done in a tongue-in-cheek fashion (female comedians making the types of comments made about them re: men instead, like 'Can you imagine a male-led comedy?!').

    • RE: Fanbase entitlement

I've followed NMS for a while. Since that first 'trailer,' which I took for what it was: 'Here's what we want to pull off.'

      Everyone does it.
I mean, Apple is pulling the 'iPhone 7 Pro' because they couldn't make it what they wanted, so there's just gonna be the 7 and the 7Plus.

How often does a movie trailer match the movie precisely? I mean, I get wanting what the original trailers imply. I remember being somewhat let down by Black & White (I still enjoyed it, mind) because even their 'gameplay' trailers didn't match what there was later.

But NMS, at its core, advertised as a single-person exploration game. I think a lot of these people saw it as a "replacement" for Star Citizen or EVE. Because for all the people who don't like it (and claim Hello Games lied), I know just as many people like me who got exactly what they wanted.

I just amused myself for about 15 minutes by plotting out how I'd use FS3 for a Pern game.

And I had giggles over the vehicle code being 'dragons' instead.

      A quick Google search...

Only reference to Star Citizen in there was someone asking why the backlash on NMS when there'd been no updates to SC for a while.

Still not a death threat. More of a 'Why are people so broken up about a 1 month delay on No Man's Sky when Star Citizen has languished for so long?'

      Oh wait. There's this: http://mmofallout.com/derek-smart-indie-devs-and-death-threats/
A guy who criticized Star Citizen received a death threat for speaking out against the game/dev.
