It's been a mess. I had to give a 'I can't do this.' letter to the first girl I was hunting with. She was way too picky, needy, and lazy (refused to do any of the contacts or tours herself).
The new person has been GREAT. I wish this place wasn't $50 over my 'max monthly,' but I'm telling myself I'd be paying more for a gym membership w/pool ANYWAY.
I almost have an apartment secure. I've done my app. I've paid the deposit. Just waiting on the new roomie to do her app.
They called and said so far, solo, my app isn't approved. But they sounded confident that once hers is in, it'll be fine. I THINK it's because they want the occupants' combined income to be 2.4 times the monthly rent. Mine is roughly $1500 shy.
But it's a great location. Very nicely sized apartments. INDOOR POOL.
Just antsy for the roomie to get her app in (which she will in a couple hours when she's off work).
The utter hatred and vitriol towards game developers just gets me these days.
No Man's Sky is an example. Apparently, Hello Games should be ashamed of itself and APOLOGIZE because the game doesn't exactly match the VERY FIRST TRAILER they showed a few years ago.
Not, 'This was a trailer of what their intended goal with the game is' (which has been common for freaking ever), but 'They should be ashamed and refund everyone because THEY LIED'
No Man's Sky never, ever made itself out to be an MMO, except because the multiplayer stuff isn't 100% totally implemented and totally like EVE... 'they failed.' There's people insisting that it would take 'one programmer just a week' to implement full multiplayer ability.
...if it was just kids (like, the under-18 crowd) doing this, that'd be one thing. But I know people who were entirely around for the Daikatana bullshit whining the same refrain.

to give him some credit, it does seem to be more over the PC than the player. As I'm FAIRLY sure he knew one PC (who was married to my PC, which is why I'd get kinda miffed at the 'on channel' attempts to 'claim' her) had a male player.

It's the only bra I've ever worn that I'd consider comfortable.

Since I was mostly active on my male PC at the time he was around, I didn't deal with it terribly much. But the trying to 'claim' female PCs on pubchan on his Staff bit was just over the top for me.

The only guys I've ever seen make a big deal out female parts or processes were...well...really super duper assholes who were just taking another opportunity to show how big of an asshole they were. And I grew up with pretty much conservative, complementarian gender role believing men.
I will say that the men I've known in my life outside of family have been pretty cool about feminine needs.
Family-wise, however, well. My father managed to spread a 'fear' of feminine products to my brothers. And I'm going to call it a fear because damn if he didn't try to make me feel bad for the 'shame' and 'embarrassment' of being emotional in the first few years of puberty.
There are guys who could totally use a proper education, but I think they're (at least in the US) becoming more rare, thankfully.

And one of the new staffers... I know he made me and a few others feel uncomfortable. He would try to heap special attention & plot on female PCs he liked. I try to tell myself that he just meant well and was being friendly, buuuuuut... I dunno. I tried to stick around, but there just weren't many people left and he was making me feel really uncomfortable. Orion re-opened and I just ended up focusing my attention there.
Haven't read much of the thread. Just got NMS on Tuesday.
Wish I was playing instead of working... and then after work I gotta look at apartments.

I think today I just decided I had to give up. 26 years of my life have been spent trying to be a good older sister to him. Obviously I wasn't always the best, but no one is when they're younger. I tried to encourage him in extracurriculars. I've tried to help encourage him in jobs. I even, a few years back, helped him get a job at a fast food place a friend of mine managed.
A friend who went above and beyond, himself. He would hang out with my brother. Encourage him. Try to give him the easiest tasks to do. Vouched for him when he would piss off his coworkers.
But I just can't anymore. I can't handle having someone put themselves through the wringer (fucking up jobs because he'd rather sit at home and play games, taking whatever he can get his hands on just for the hopes of a high, etc) and then blame it on me over and over again. He's family, but I've got to acknowledge that there's even a limit to that.

This is absolutely not petty. I have friends I love but will not loan money to anymore, because it's a never-ending cycle.
I'll echo this. You've done plenty for them. It's OK to step back and say 'I need to do this for me.'
When I moved last year (October), I had literally just stepped into the door at the end of a cross-country (South Carolina to Seattle) drive to a phone call from my parents. The day I had left, my brother began acting very strangely. Manic. Then violent. Had admitted to mixing drugs for a 'high.' They were calling to let me know he was under psychiatric care and was, supposedly, blaming me for it. (He was blaming me, not them)
This past Spring, he mixed various drugs again, went manic, and was arrested following harassing neighbors in his underwear. He was compliant with the cops, neighbors didn't want to press charges, so he just went into psych again.
Today, he's sending me the strange messages on FB that have preceded previous situations. I checked with my parents and they said he was manic this morning, but 'seemed normal' since. I've had to block him because the messages are either entirely nonsensical, or things like:
"I want to be me, but you took that, refused to let me be and made sure I would never amount to anything."
He is 26.
I have not been 'a part' of his life other than distantly in over a decade. This because of a few times in my teens in which he was violent towards me, made threats to kill me, etc. I have tried. I have really, really tried, because I'm jealous of those who are close to their siblings. I had thought that maybe once he was an adult... but no. I can't do this any more.

I'm actually the reason he left Deimos. I played Kingsley.
He had a huge butthurt fit that I picked a different parajumper char over his for a mission. The reason I picked the other chick? Her PC was from the world the mission was on. Thus she was a PJ AND knowledgeable local. This was explained to the guy. Repeatedly.
And he still tried to bitch at me. Then he went to someone else and had a crying fit over how I was being mean to him. She attempted to mediate and asked me what was up. I explained it. I explained WHY I chose the other PC. She went 'Oh, that makes total sense!'
...and because she didn't side with him, he did a 'OMG I'M QUITTING EVERYONE HERE IS TERRIBLE.'
I got a loooooooot of grateful pages that night. >.>
(BTW, for those not in the know, Orion is back up and running under Dropkick. Old chars can come back (if they didn't like, die on camera obvs), new chars can be made, and Retrograde has approved transfers from Deimos. I've got dumps of everyone's +sheets from Deimos, FYI: http://www.bsorion.com)
I know some people (I've cleared it up with the important ones, like Dropkick) thought I might be involved in the stealing of Orion's DB. I wasn't.
Ares approached me on Orion (when Aria was running it) and said he was making his own BSG game. As I was utterly unable to get involved in Orion after Dropkick had left and was definitely on the 'outside' of Aria's clique, I said sure. I was initially just a player on Pegasus and later made staff. Once I was made staff, I began to discover shit. Like how he stole Orion's DB. That he puts in tools to spy, to read +mails, and even coded backdoors (there was one lingering on Orion when it was rebooted).
I tried to make the best of it, since the game had active players, but I was only set Royal (so I couldn't fully strip out anything that was Orion's) and he just up and abandoned the game because he began doing photography IRL.
The guy likes to lie.
He likes to convince games to let him become a coder, then creates 'back doors' for himself while stealing code, DBs, etc.
He'll start new games and then abandon them.
He'll read players +mails, become possessive over female players and use what he finds in +mail against them.
etc etc.
Lotherio is so very much not this guy.
