Here's the problem - they never charged me for the groceries. It's been two days since I picked them up, and not even a pending charge. Do I call them and tell them their mistake, or leave it be and call it restitution for them being fuckwads?

Don't bother. Your grocery order is a literal drop in the bucket for them, and they have budgeted for that kind of mistake loss. What I do recommend, as a former employee of theirs, is to shop elsewhere. Their treatment of their employees is absolutely atrocious and it's not going to change as long as people are spending money there. They won't admit a need to change, instead they just take the insanely high turnover of workers and shrug it off, hiring literally everyone for a few months until they are ground into dust and quit for the sake of health and sanity, despite needing the money.

This one breaks my heart. America's Got Talent is utterly dumb, but this woman was astoundingly beautiful and full of the kind of Grace that is biblical in it's scope. I was really hoping she'd beat this thing, despite how dire her prognosis had been. Rest in Peace, Nightbirde. https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/21/entertainment/nightbirde-dead/index.html

Love the ability to do chargen via the web. It was simple and painless, even as someone new to FS3.

@Auspice A day where everything drives Schmidt absolutely nuts with his various quirks (like he tries to put on a fancy dinner party and everything blows up on him) and he has to be talked down by the only person who can do so...Martha Stewart.

@betternow I mean... they've basically overhauled the entire game WHILE continuing to release add-ons and dlc.

More basically, the open world multiplayer isn't garbage anymore.

Ah, nothing that would make me get it then. I didn't like the whole multiplayer aspect of it. I just like to be left the hell alone to enjoy a story myself 😄

@carma In Ares, I really wish there was more cultural acceptance of, "Joey filled in Susan on the events of <link to log>last night," instead of having to do direct dialogue.

The expectation of direct dialogue has been a thing since I started playing in the 1990s - it really has nothing to do with Ares.

That said - yeah, MU conversations are pretty absurd. That's partly why I can't do big scenes any more (even more than 3 people). Everyone is putting so much into their individual poses that by the time it comes round to me there are like 27 conversation threads to keep up with and my brain cries uncle.

No, I understand that. I'm not blaming Ares. I'm just saying that in an environment where most games have every meaningful scene logged and every log public, it should be more of a thing to just be able to condense a recap to a link to the relevant logs.

I tend to do that via mail on Ares, by making it an IC message sent, paper or phone or email. People seem to be cool with that as a recap rather than me having to spell it all out in poses.

    • RE: Plot session duration

I don't run much any more but when I did, I emailed all the signed up participants with any background/setup info AND the scene set so they could be ready when it began and have devised why they're there and how they're posing in, etc. That first round of entrances was often a stumbling block with people trying to rationalize how or why they'd gotten there.

When a player in the NFL does something someone doesn't like, a jersey gets burned, right?

And if you're a politician and you do something like this, you get elected president.

    • RE: GMs and Players

@ganymede said in GMs and Players:

Here's a "revolutionary" question that has helped guide me in my past decade of MUSHing: am I being fair to staff?

It's a good question, and the answer could be "yes" or "no". Another question is "Is this particular staffer the problem?" Again, it could be "yes" or "no". I mean how many game runners/staffers have been ranted about on here who seriously qualify as being the problem and worth warning others about (ala Spider)? There seems to be a pretty fair share of wrong on both sides of the equation. So how do you figure out which it actually is? Or (I know, revolutionary idea) Could BOTH player and staffer be the problem in the same equation? GASP!

    • RE: GMs and Players

@misadventure That is covered in "stakes". Sandbox and slice of life games are pretty much where players run the vast majority of plotlines and even staff-run ones have no consequences different from any other scene. See Keys for example. No equipment, no extra XP for being in a staff run scene, most scenes are player run, you gain no advantage by having staff's attention.

@lotherio I would be more inclined towards a Mandalorian/Book of Boba Fett era type one, small scale, just Tattooine (or other single planet), with factions of warlords or politically at odds cities or something working together to keep the Empire off their world. No Jedi.
